  1. I think that the world would be a much better place if we had the studio version of this song - oddly enough, it's one of my favorite unreleased songs in terms of lyrics. They're so tragically beautiful
  2. Happy birthday, Ultraviolence An album that always has and always will hold a special place in my heart. It really introduced me to a genre of music I'd never had much interest in that is now one of my favorites. UV is one of those rare albums that don't have any skips, in my opinion. It's a cohesive, beautiful body of work and I'm immensely grateful for it. My favorites will always be Black Beauty, Old Money, Shades of Cool, West Coast and Pretty When You Cry.
  3. Honestly, I think an 80s aesthetic could be really cool if it was done right. It would make sense too seeing that that's one of the few decades we haven't seen her tap into sonically or visually. But I'm not sure it would really match the music we've gotten from this album so far. I don't think I could even give an exact answer to what this eras aesthetic will be at the moment. I was sort of thinking the settled down, country, midwestern aesthetic was gonna be it for this era, but she hasn't really been into that as of late (just based off of her few instagram posts and those paparazzi pictures, this is all just guessing lol). Looking forward to seeing what's to come
  4. I had a bunch of errands that came up today, so I wasn't able to make it to the concert, but I'm hoping to see some videos soon! From what I'm hearing, it was really good
  5. Honestly, I think the main reason she looks different is because, at least to me, she looks so much happier than she did at this time last year. The last thing I want to do is speculate since it's none of mine or anyone else's business, but she seems to be doing well and I think it shows in her face (I do think she's started doing her makeup differently too, particularly her eyebrows, but it looks fantastic and I'm waiting for the tutorial lol)

  8. She looks stunning I love the glasses, and her hair color is gorgeous, I literally thought these were from 2015 when I saw them on Twitter this morning. She also looks like she's feeling good, which is exactly what she deserves
  9. So we're assuming that that picture is the album cover...because she updated her website with it to promote the singles?? I really don't think this is a super big deal or something to worry about at the moment - if it does end up being the album cover, then honestly, I'm not gonna act like I love it and I do think people have a right to not be happy with that. But right now, all we know 100% is that the picture was used for the single covers. Am I in denial or just optimistic? Scientists may never know
  10. After listening to the album in full, I think that I can safely say this is my favorite album of 2021 so far. Choosing Ancient Dreams as the title track was a perfect choice, and I think that the transition between the social/political themes and the love themes are done really smoothly. My favorite is definitely Venus Fly Trap, with Pandora's Box and ILYBILMM following closely behind. I do think that Flowers is gonna be top three, or maybe even my favorite, after spending a few more days with it though. The production on this album has some of my favorite production ever from Marina - there's a perfect blend of strings, piano, guitar, drums and synths. Although I did like Love + Fear and it spawned some Marina gems for me (particularly End of the Earth), I think that this album feels more like the follow-up to Froot. I'm in love
  11. At the end of the day, if none of these artists liked Jack's production style, they wouldn't work with him. And his style obviously isn't for everyone, but the general public really likes it (as we've seen with the response to NFR, Folklore, etc). I'm someone who actually does enjoy Jack's production, the man produced Venice Bitch so I can never say his production is objectively bad, but I also think it can be good for an artist to switch it up. That's part of why I'm still looking forward to BB despite the messiness of the release dates. I don't think that the three singles were a clear representation of what the album is/will sound like, and even if they are, I still listen to the singles regularly so I wouldn't mind. Side note - there seriously just needs to be a Jack exclusive thread considering how almost every other thread turns into discussion about him

I really like Solar Power right now, but I think it'll definitely be a grower for me - it's perfect for leading into the summer though
  13. The way she says "I did it my way, baby" in Venus Fly Trap is so satisfying for some reason. It's been on loop and it only gets better each time, it's definitely high on the list of my favorite Marina songs ever. I can see this song getting really popular too - she's really outdone herself
  14. By far my favorite Marina music video since Blue The song is incredible and the video is too, and I'm obsessed with the concept - every single for this era has been better than the last
  15. This whole thread is just the same discourse and back-and-forth every few days with silence in between Nothing about it feels like it's to talk about the album, just rehashing what's already been said since the Chemtrails prerelease thread. At the end of the day, people can have their opinions, but I feel like I've heard everyone's a thousand times now (including my own)
  16. I still wish that we'd gotten something similar to her Interview Magazine video/shoot from September of last year for last era or this era. Everything about that was a 10/10 for me, and it matched up so well with the pictures/videos of her wearing pearls and reading Violet (and the birds Instagram story post). Part of me still thinks it could make a comeback for this era, but I really don't know what to expect from BB anymore lol. Weirdly enough, it doesn't feel like the three singles were the start to the era for me, but more so a precursor to it
  17. I had a feeling that the blonde wig was for VFT and knowing that it is has me so excited The song (yes, I've listened, but it's the only one I took a sneak peak of) and the video snippet feel like a modernized TFJ which I love. I feel like once she figured out the aesthetic for this era, it's been coming together really nicely

I'm so hyped for Solar Power In general, I have such a good feeling about this album/era - it's gonna be so good
  19. Someone tell Marina that Hermit The Frog is viral on TikTok because I need her to do it live (I know she won't because she doesn't sing most of TFJ anymore, but her energy during that song live was always insane). In other news, I caved and bought tickets to the concert - really looking forward to it! She's someone who I love to watch on stage, so I think it'll be fantastic
  20. I think people are kind of starting to get the idea that Lana owes us constant interaction and social media presence, which isn't true at all. There are multiple celebrities who aren't even on social media at all and still do well/have a good relationship with their fans. If she wants to be less active on Instagram and Twitter for this era, that's totally fine with me, especially with everything that's gone on in the past year or so. Just seeing her comment section on the triple single post she made (and has since deleted) kind of made me understand why she would not be active if she's doing it intentionally. I could go on and on about the parasocial relationship thing and how it relates to Lana/her fans, but for now, I'm just going to say that I hope she's doing well mentally and taking care of herself. I've also been spending a lot more time with the singles since summer started for me and I'm loving them even more than I did before. Text Book has grown on me a lot.
  21. So I just got into the thread fully today and I want to share some thoughts on the whole June 1st thing. Sorry if I'm beating a dead horse lol. Honestly, the release date thing doesn't phase me anymore - if she releases, she releases and if she doesn't, she doesn't. She just put out three new songs a few weeks ago + an entire album, so I'm really content. The fact that she even planned to release another album this year at all is giving us a lot more than expected. While it's true that she has a tendency to not stick to release dates, you can't deny the fact that we get things from Lana pretty frequently. It's not like we're starving for music or anything (though I do understand that quite a few users here didn't like Chemtrails or the singles). I also understand being disappointed over the fact that nothing happened yesterday. That's fine. But to go as far as to claim emotional abuse over an artist not releasing something on a date they mentioned on Instagram a few months ago? That's too far. Anyways, BB maybe on July 4th, coming to outsell Independence Day And again, sorry for re-bringing the topic up, I just had a lot of thoughts in my head and felt like sharing
  22. I know a lot of people consider this song to be overhyped, but I really think it's worth the hype - it is genuinely an astonishing song. The production itself is enough to make it incredible, but then you take into account the lyrical storytelling + the way Lana delivers her vocals on this song (which yes, baby voice, but I think it was somewhat in an intentional way because of what the song is about). It's a genius song and I will die on the hill that it deserved a video
  23. Her hair looks so good, I love it - just generally, it seems like she's looking and, more importantly, feeling good Living her best life
