Blue Banisters - Pre-Pre-Release Thread

No matter what that video was for or ends up being for if it's released, I still think it looks like it'd be a really nice one. And I feel like she probably did film it around the same time she did Jimmy Fallon, so I'm wondering if this video is gonna be an Ultraviolence and Freak situation where she takes a video filmed for the last album and uses it for the new one -

I think the three singles would be perfect for a triple video like NFR/Bartender/HIAB or even Body Electric/Gods and Monsters/Bel Air to an extent. They all have a similar vibe and could kind of show the progression of her feelings towards herself and a situation. In terms of the lyric thing, I'm super excited now - honestly, a lot of the songs reminded me of something that could've passed for poems, but I like it. I think her writing going to be really poetic and beautiful on this album -
People typing in "Lana Del Rey type song fan made" into youtube, downloading it as an mp3 and then uploading it to dbree under the name "LANA DEL REY REAL ROCK CANDY SWEET LOVED YOU THEN AND NOW BLUE BANISTERS SNIPPET" (I know this isn't exactly what happened today, but it happens all the time and I thought it was funny so )

Honestly, if she just didn't edit it and put text on the regular selfie, I'd be totally fine with that -

I don't think the album cover is gonna be the same one she used for the single cover for the simple fact that it literally never is. I can see it being really pretty, but also quite lowkey. Like, midwestern subtlety but in a hot way. I think this would be a good era to bring the car theme back for the cover, maybe with her near a black truck and hair like the clip she posted from the Blue Banisters video. In reality though, I'm sure it's going to be much less extravagant than what I have in mind -

I honestly don't blame Lana for not wanting to post about the songs. I'm not a fan of the single covers, but I imagine it can be tough to have all your comments bombarded with "Change your album cover!" "WHAT ARE YOU DOING OMG' and things like that. I've somewhat mentioned this before, but these singles were really intriguing to me. They could either be telling everything about what the album is going to sound like or nothing. With her working with producers like Mike and Zach, I know there's a lot of ground production wise there that she could cover, and I'm really hoping that she does. Lyrics wise, I'm hoping for more songs like WW -

The Blue Banisters album cover being the picture she keeps using would become the dictionary definition of "so not camp that it's camp" -

This is gonna sound weird, but why does it actually look pretty decent as a header?? Like, in that format it's really not that bad -

I feel like out of the three songs we got yesterday, WW was a real taste of what the rest of the album will delve into lyrically. The "here's the deal cause I know you wanna talk about it" part is so interesting, especially in coloration with the second verse and what people have been constantly saying about her romanticizing unhealthy relationships. There's definitely a lot more where WW came from, and I'm look forward to hearing it. -

At the end of the day, Lana can choose to write about whatever she wants. If some topics don't feel relevant to her anymore for her to write about and she wants to explore other areas, then that's fine. If not and she wants to continue to explore topics similar to ones she did in the BTD/UV eras, that's fine too. Personally, I relate more to the lyrics she's been writing more recently (in the past 5 or 6 years), but I do have an appreciation for the beauty of her past ones as they were super relatable to my life just two or three years ago. I think that this album will be somewhat of a combination. It was written around the chaos of last spring and summer, so it's clear that certain things in the realm will be touched on in BB, I just don't think those are the songs she chose to make singles right away (although I do see a lot of her frustration from that time period in WW) -

Mike is literally just Lana if she was a male producer But anyways, finding out that Zach Dawes helped produce Text Book is giving me so much hope for Dealer. Out of all of the songs she's teased for albums so far, I think this is the one I've ever wanted the most - the (limited) description of it makes it seem so cool -
So yesterday, I found myself on a drive while it was raining and listening to these songs, and when I tell you it changed my whole perspective.....It felt like I was in the moment the music was made for in a sense. Then after Text Book ended, Five String Serenade by Mazzy Star came on shuffle - it was literally perfect.

I'm excited to see what's coming next. Honestly, the singles feel like exactly what they were described as - buzz singles. There's obviously so much more where those came from and I feel like the best is still yet to come -
Speculations on Lana's relationship with her mother
Super Movie replied to Whoopiedoo's topic in Lana Thoughts
We don't know the whole story and probably never will (and that's perfectly fine - it's Lana's story to tell if she chooses), but based on what she said in WW, I relate heavily to her relationship with her mother. I remember last year when people got so angry with Lana for not posting about her mom on mothers day and instead choosing to talk more about chosen family - honestly, it hurt me, which is stupid, but to see people have such a harsh reaction to that really struck a chord with me. A flat chord, at that. Not everyone has a loving, perfect relationship with their mom. And that shouldn't always be expected. All in all, I don't want to say what exactly I think did or didn't happen with Lana and her mom because that's such a personal thing, and it's hers to share if she feels like doing so. But I do want to say that it's clear the relationship is strained, and I can relate wholeheartedly to the lyrics in the second verse, as most of my siblings would if I were to play them the song.- 252 replies

I think what's so rich about these songs is how mature they are. Throughout my four years with Lana, it really feels as though her music as matured alongside with me as I've grown up and changed, and these songs really showcase that for me. I don't know - I know a lot of people are hating everything about this release including the songs themselves, but these songs have come at the perfect point in my life and I think that I'm going to grow the cherish them deeply

This is probably gonna sound strange, but I don't think I'll be able to listen to BB itself very much. Not because I don't like it, I adore the song, but it makes me feel really melancholic. Somewhat of a "longing for a life you never lived" thing. I'm not one to get overemotional because of songs or anything like that, but this one really did it for me

The verses of Text Book remind me of film noir
