I never realized how many people actually cared that Lana smokes  Cigarettes are one of the main things her aesthetic has been tied to for years in the public eye, and this is the same person who's IG bio was #VapeInfluencer. Regardless of opinion, I really don't think it's necessary to insult people and I think this goes a bit too far. I totally understand wanting to defend Lana and not agreeing with the way people feel about certain issues, but this doesn't feel productive at all. It's not worth it to get so worked up and hurl insults/name-call from across a computer screen over any of this. It also comes off as quite hypocritical to tell people that they sound bitter and to calm down, but then essentially go on a two page rant about the same thing while calling people names. That might just be me, though

Technically, we have a transcripted copy of the poem in here and there's the audio recording that she did of it, so this could still end up on the book unless that wasn't the whole thing 

Is it even worth listening to? Because if all Lana does is backup on the chorus and you can barely hear her, I'm not sure I'm gonna bother with it 

A lot of this discussion is why I found it so baffling when people were mad at Lana for putting unreleased songs on Blue Banisters. Those are songs that she had a right to use as she pleased, and it’s not her fault that you already heard them when they initially leaked. It wasn’t like they were old songs released years and years ago that were then put on an album, which is how I felt a lot of people were acting. I think that inclusion of those previously unreleased tracks also adds somewhat of a flaw in the “well, it’s so old and it’s never gonna get released anyways” way of thinking (that I’m not gonna act like I haven’t subscribed to) because we’ve seen that it’s not entirely impossible despite the unlikeliness. It’s a super complicated and messy topic to discuss because there’s so much nuance to it. I don’t think a good majority of Lana fans can 100% say they’re fully against leaks either without coming off as hypocritical in a sense because unreleased tracks have become a huge part of her fan communities across all different platforms

I feel so bad for Lana. There’s a clear distinction between an old demo from 10-15+ years ago resurfacing and stuff that’s actively planned on being released (and even the old stuff goes into a whole ethics discussion I simply don’t have the energy for). That goes for the book and all of her personal material not meant to be released at all as well. And it goes further than a leak issue, it’s an issue regarding the constant violations of Lana's privacy that’s been going on for the majority of her career. I just hope that she’s alright 

This is just a personal thing, but I feel like if all an artist is doing on a song is backing vocals, then they shouldn’t be listed/advertised as a featured artist because that kind of implies a larger role. That goes for any artist, not just Taylor. I honestly kind of feel the same about Playboi Carti on Summer Bummer because what is he doing besides backing stuff  That’s why I like that Party Monster wasn’t released as “Party Monster ft. Lana Del Rey” because that’s not as accurate as just having her as a credited backing vocalist

I've never listened to a Taylor album in full on my own, so I'm literally just gonna listen to Snow on the Beach and that's it 

I wonder if Taylor knows that Lana fans get our snippets through sketchy links or a video taken on an 8mm film app on an iPhone via Instagram. Maybe she's saving the SOTB snippet for something like that

That said, the general cultural shunning of Courtney that I was referring to makes no reference to this incident and instead positions her merely as Kurt’s overbearing and instigative wife who drove him to death——that is what warrants an apology to her, in my opinion. 

I feel the same. There's a lot that Courtney has said that I strongly disagree with and I do think there are valid criticisms to be made towards her (I've made them myself) however, a good portion of the people that hate her don't even know about that. It's purely based on a misogynistic way of thinking and their weird obsession with "defending the honor" of a man they never even met or something. The fact that a lot of people act like Kurt basically wrote Live Through This really bothers me too because no he didn't 

People take music way too seriously sometimes. Like, it's okay to just have fun  Not every song has to have profound, deeply emotional lyricism and intense, movie score level instrumentals
