Yeah, the dancing is pretty dope (funny you bring up Pina Bausch, I really love her work) but the whole "living on a beach" visual is pretty boring and has been done so many times already. And as much as I want to like SP - I love myself a slow summer album to vibe to and I'd love to have some more mature Lorde music - so far the music seems extremely unerwhelming and uninspired. I mean - Stoned At The Nail Salon for example is a super vanilly ballad, something she has done x-1000 times before and then it ALSO recycles a Lana Del Rey melody. Nothing about the production or the lyrics is very new or exciting. And THAT is the song she choses to release as a single? I feel both Jack and Lorde stayed within their comfort zone far too much (probably encouraging each other to do so in the process) and that may result in a mediocre album. It's similar to what happened on CoCC imo but with the difference that SP is supposed to be Lorde's "comeback"

I can't hear a lot of effort or vision in SATNS, California or Solar Power. They all lack energy. Mood Ring is nice but it's not nice enough to actually shake anytging up. So far SP seems pretty unibspired imo.

I really thought she'd get praise for it just for the sake of being Lorde (like Adele will get praised even if her next project will just be another rehash of 21). It's nice to see critics are not sugarcoating her lazyness
-
They only announced that Chromatics disbanded, but Ruth talked about "future projects". Kind of sad they did not drop Dear Thommy as a parting gift
-
They released multiple singles, EPs and an album within the timespan of scrapping DT and breaking up though ...

Nah that's just wrong. Eclipse teased BAR prior to L4L so we all thought it was going to be the album title. It leaked prior to L4L, somewhat after Love I think. Architecture was probably the working title cause YT registered it that way in case someone uploaded the leak on the platform. Noone ever though NFR would be titled BAR, that was never a thing -

Unpopular opinion but I prefer Blue Banisters as an album title over Arcadia. -
It's not a diss when the singles proof her wrong so loudly lol

Sorry but after reading all of this I still don't get why her not saying that the date she announced will not happen (she does not have to say anything more than this one sentence) is too much to ask. It's rude and unprofessional but - as I said - it's not emotional abuse or whatever. -

What else would you call it? It is unprofessional and the fact she does not care enough to post 2 - 3 lines to create clarity is everything but polite. -

Can we just agree that Lanas habit to announce bogus-dates and not speaking up when they lead into dead ends is unprofessional and rude without a) writing essays about how she does not owe anyone anything and how it adds up to her artistic quality and b) comparing it to emotional abuse and trauma? -
Yeah they technically could but they usually just do a social media campaign and call it a day. It's obvious Lorde wouldnt do something like that
-
I think you can hardly make an artist do that with a contract.
-
It's not. Social Media campaign can be quite expensive

I'd rather not ... -
It's less exciting than the BB prerelease tbh

Our annual LB staging of "Much Ado About Nothing" -
I don't like Responsibility. I mean - the message is good and everything, but I'm so over this "whispering lines heavy with meaning over an instrumental". That concept is SO worn out at this point and the only effect it has on me is cringe. Plus, as much as I like Billie Bossa Nova I can't with all these Billie stans brabbling about "Billie doing bossa nova", when the only BN-song they ever heard is the elevator-music version of "The Girl From Ipanema" This is as bad as Lana fans talking about how she' a trip hop artist because she used some beats on BtD

I really like this album, it turned out much more coherent than I expected it to be. It's really chill and there are some nice melodic moments. NIt does not have as much "OOMPH" as Where Do We Go, but I feel like it will age much better. The first 6 tracks flow extremely good, however I think the second half of the album is a bit bumpy. Having Everybody Dies and Your Power back to back just to drop NDA/ Therefore I Am afterwards feels like a missed chance to mix things up. Male Fantasy is nice but it feels a bit like a bonus track. It's weaker than the other ballads and the title song would have been a much better closer IMO
-
The title track is really REALLY good and Halley's Comet's quite nice too. Don't really think we needed an album with both Male Fantasy and Your Power though. I actually hoped the songs would have a more "easy-vibing" sound like Lost Cause, my future and everything I wanted. But it seems like it will be an incohesive mixed bag ...
-
Chemtrails should have been an EP. She could have just cut off Not All Who Wander Are Lost, For Free and Breaking Up Slowly. That way it would not fade out into a wave of bleakness during the second half AND it would not have taken such major space within her release schedule so that Blue Banisters could be released more quickly afterwards
-
It features the brass band from DTWD and Ol'McDonald will return to contribute some shots from his gun, a rise back to glory after his monumental performance on GBA-AATBWII
