  1. Hm, no too impressed with the Wildflower-snippets. Of course I'm excited we'll get some new tunes, but so far it seemslike it will just be CoCC reloaded. I'm hoping for the same energy the "Summertime- The Gershwin Version" had, but the production and vocal style do not really seem like a stray away from her Jack-Antonoff-comfort-zone. Happy to be proven wrong though.
  2. That would actually be hillarious - which means Lana won't do it. Probably just a different Instafilter
  3. Talking like an answering machine is such a great title though. I can think of so many great lyrics/ tropes that this coud refer to - being emotionally detached, being hurt inside but acting politely on the outside or it could refer to a person who's fake, boring, pretentious ... [seeing what Lana did with titles like "Chemtrails Over The Country Club" or "Let Me Love You Like A Woman", the lyrics would probably not live up to the title]
  4. I am not my body Or my mind Or my brain HAAAAAAAAAAAaa
  5. She hates promo so much that she just drops all 3 singles at onceand then goes into hiding for the rest of the pre-release (which will last until August 2022 )
  6. You'd think we learned from the CoCC era, yet here you gus are, setting urselves up for disappointment
  7. "Why be a wallflower when you can be a venus fly trap?" - I'm already loving it! Based on Eclipse's review, that album sounds very promising! I love how she seems to go full-risk again, his description of the title track made me even more excited for the single to drop tomorrow.
  8. I revisited the album again because I really WANT to like it. But I think the main problemfor me is, that the album is so short. And I'm not talking about the amount of tracks. The standard editions of BtD has 12 songs, the standard edition of UV has 11. Yet both albums feel like they've come "full circle" once they end. Chemtrails on the other hand completely loses this "album"-feeling after Dark But Just A Game. Up until that point, it feels like a body of work with a cohesive direction, multiple layers etc. But from track 7 on it's just bleak, bland and almost feels unfinished. It loses it's momentum and just drags on and even though everything happens within a shared sonical universe, the songs still kind of seem to be thrown together. There is no arc of suspense anymore, if that makes sense. That's not to say I don't like the songs on this second half - Yosemite is great and DTWD is a nice tune. But the combination of those tracks really sucks the life from them.
  9. Oh ok. Well that's a pity. I never really cared for PC but HL sounded very promising.
  10. "I Love You But I Love Me More" could potentially be a renamed Happy Loner, I also read some rumours that it's now "Flowers" but I could not find any source for it.
  11. The longer the pre-pre-release, the dumber the hottakes ...
  12. That cover ... ew. But whatever, the snippet sounded dope so I'm here for it!
  13. All of those have different sounds but they all rely on pretty straightforward, simple structures and production without much depth.
  14. Wow, that snippet of the title track sounds great. I figured it would be some sort of ballad but that preview slaps This album really IS her comeback!
  15. Haven't listened to CoCC in full since release-week. I always stop after Dark But Just A Game, cause the second half is such a bleak and bland drag. I love Yosemite, but not enough to listen through No All Who Wanders Are Lost, which really sucks all of the life out of the album's vibe. It's not that the songs are slow, but they kind of lack interesting dynamics.
  16. Didn't Marina share this on her Insta story?
  17. I mean - they are. Just as gay rights and BLM are politically charged. That does not mean they should be a subject to discussion, but in reality they ARE so ... yeah.
  18. Compilation albums that get uploaded to YouTube
  19. Intros: Cola - the string arrangement is GODLY. It feels like some angel coming down from heaven to proclaim the happy message "mah pussey tastes liketh pepsey colah!" Born To Die - The dramatic strings followed by the percussion is just GODLY National Anthem - basically for the same reason as BtD, except this one has even more drama with the fireworks and the contrast between the strings and the dark "drop" afterwards is much more effective Honeymoon - Horror movie x vintage romance vibes! High By The Beach - The helicopter siund followed by her looped & reversed vocals is such a badass moment. Honorable mentions: Gods & Monsters, West Coast, Shades of Cool, God Knows I Tried, Money Power Glory Outros Money Power Glory - Her singing this high note over the bold beat ... Beautiful! White Dress - Raw and dreamy at the same time Shades Of Cool- feels like a cool-down after that climatic bridge Honeymoon - Those jazzy vocals ... MTWBT - The sinister man-eater-esque vocals give the whole song a kind of different meaning within its last seconds
  20. Nah. It's a valid way to talk about music that a lot of people employ outside the stan culture. Of course songs DO age since a lot of them are created within a certain era of production and songwriting. And that means that the opionion people have on it when listening to it outside of it's original context may change aswell. That does not mean everybody has to dislike it or that you can't like old music/ still feel their vibe. Denying that music does exist in a context that's subject to time and change actually showcases a LACK of critical thinking skills
  21. I see what you're trying to do here but this is just not true. Of course stan culture tends to be overdramatic and unreasonably swings between "this is the best thing ever" and "this is pure shit". But talking about how an album "aged", whether it's timeless or music that does not really go beyond a "trend" in music history is a pretty legit thing to do. Of course that's always a subjective impression and the very fact that something reflects a certain music-era of the past can actually be seen as a huge quality. I'm all for a more differenciated discussion about music bit can we not negate completely reasonably ways to talk about music pls?
  22. First of all - YAS STAN ALEXANDRA SAVIOR! Second - I'd LOVE Lana to go into the direction of songs like But You or Crying All The Time, but I kind of doubt that will happen at his point. I think she left this kind of sound with NFR and I don't really see her going back to this Lynchian/ fully-produced kind of vintage-pop anytime soon
