Jack has won producer of the year, two years in a row. I can tell you as a person who knows quite a bit about music production, that he is a very good producer, and pays attention to details that most producers don't.

Yet still almost everything he did with Lana after NFR are non-committing, muddy sounding songs that sound like Solar Power

I still think she wrote Heroin as a potential submission for Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. That movie had been in development for many years.

I think she knew about that before the announcement and was in contact with Tarantino for the possibility of writing a theme song. Tarantino is very picky about the music though, so he probably said no to her after hearing an early version of the track.

Didn't he scrap all music submissions to the soundtrack as he only wanted "authentic" music in the movie?

He replied to my post (or, rather, series of posts), dissing it. It's my opinion and I have a right to feel a certain way about my favorite musician, but he criticized it as invalid somehow.

What I said was that I have a right to my opinion, and the yawn was directed at anyone who feels like they can invalidate a person's personal view on a public forum. I hope that clarifies it for you.

I mean - they did not though?

You feeling adressed by posts does not mean they are directed personally towards you

OR, we can all just have our own opinions, needs and expectations?

There's absolutely nothing wrong in expecting a pop start to make a conventional pop song.

If you don't agree with it, you don't have to engage.

Which is what you just did with their post though?

Lana was never doing "conventional pop songs" if we leave out leaked unreleased stuff. Even BtD was not conventional nack im 2012.

  5. I'd like an album that is a bit more "polished" again. Not necessarily pop-production/ BtD style, but a sound like HM would be great.

Also, it would be cool to have her songs be a bit more "focussed" again. The experimental, artistic stuff is nice and everything, but the all-over-the-place-ness of tracks like Peppers, Black Bathing Suit, Margaret or Taco Truck X VB is ... not something I personally long for.

I think an album with big orchestral sound would be great. Specifically thinking of large string arrangements.

Imagine ballads like DYKTTATUOB, IYLDWM or Arcadia but with major orchestral elements, some extra instrumental bridges, ...:flutter:

Something along the lines of Ane Brun's "Last Breath", Angel Olsens "Chance" or "You Won't Forget Me" by Melody Gardot

Tbh I think the beats are in the rear-view mirror for the moment- the version of VB on DYKTTATUOB is allegedly the original demo (from like 2018) and Jimmy is also from the NFR sessions- these pieces are 4-5 years old and are closer to the first half of Lust for Life than where she is now sonically imo

Oooh where did thst interesting info came from?

  7. I hope we can get an album that's a bit less cringy when it comes to lyrics. I like her music but her always going 100% narcissist and never coming off her high horse is so annoying.

The woman literally published a song called "Hold No Grudge" and sings about people "talking shit about old friends" with contempt when at least 80% of the tracks on Solar Power are her singing about how she is better and wiser and braver and more aware than anyone else and how everyone should basically be ashamed of not being as gorg as she is.

Fingertips legit became one of my favorite songs of all time and I'm starving for more songs like it. Sally's Song from TNBC soundtrack sounds very similar. I'm looking for slow orchestral mainly tracks with not too low pitched vocals, ethereal operatic quality and also that feel a little loose in structure. Anything, I'm dying to hear more like this.

Weyes Blood "God Turn Me Into A Flower".

Also check out Wendy McNeill's record "First There Were Feathers" or "Floating Into The Night" by Julee Cruise

umm okay...  I merely don't want her to see stupid mean shit in her comment section. Apart from it being awful for her to read, I also don't want anything to potentially make her deactivate again.

We're just angry that there are people who actually have time to write such mean selfish shit. Some people like that guy who commented forget that she's actually a fucking human with fucking feelings.

I mean yeah it's rude and unnecessary, but its just one random post in an instagram feed with 16 comments. There are always haters and I do not think Lana really cares. Especially not for comments like that particular one

  10. Would be nice to have an album which has a tracklist of full songs as opposed to every second or third track being some sort of experimental 2.01min interlude

  11. I really do not want Jack as the main producer for LDR 10.

I LOVE NFR and I think his impact on this great album can't be denied. However, I feel like the reason for this is that that album thrives on the newly discovered chemistry between Jack and Lana, they inspired each other a lot and therefore created something exciting and new (similar to what habend with Dan Auerbach for UV).

This spark is however missing from a lot of the stuff they did afterwards. You can still hear it on standout tracks like White Dress or A&W - but both of these were tracks Lana and Jack singled out as exciting collaborations themselves.

For most of the rest of their work together, it feels more like Lana had hin since she likes him and feels comfortable working with him. But that also meant he gave the "standard Antonoff treatment" to her demos and - at least in my opinion - that leads to a rather bleak and unexciting output.

When Lana worked with  Rick as her "comfort zone producer", it still felt like he was giving the songs a much more unique, Lana-specific sound. Jack on the other hand has a temdency of making everything sound alike, with a kinda vague and non-committing quality.
