Wow my current obsession meets my 12 year strong obsession. We love it here. I am going to see FDC in 2 weeks - thrilled. Romance, their album, is my AOTY. And yes, In The Modern World is so Lana-coded, designed to eventually have her join them onstage on vocals. I hope it happens! And I hope she sees this.

Hi guys, Love the song, avoiding the mess hahaha. Wondering how this year is gonna go. Just wanted to say that Lana is eligible for more RIAA certifications: Platinum for UV, and Gold for Honeymoon and LFL. Also BTD is at like 3.5m, so really might almost qualify for Quadruple Platinum which is wild! I hope she cares enough to collect these.

Haven't been on here in ages. But love the new tracks and so happy to see our girl free. I really don't think she cares at all anymore about charting, commercial expectations, relevancy. She's just going to do what she needs to do and she trusts she has a hardcore fanbase who will follow her. And we will.

Or Shirley Manson. Shirley would absolutely do it, and there's no question that Garbage has impacted Lana's music. I'd like to see that come together in a formal way.

It’s hella early, and the landscape could shift decisively in one of several directions, but right now Interscope’s Lana Del Rey, Columbia’s Tyler, the Creator and Atlantic’s Meek Mill all look to be competitive. Lana quickly became one of the coolest acts in the pop world upon her arrival, earning major mystique and blockbuster sales in 2012 for major-label bow Born to Die; she earned a Grammy nod for a remix of "Summertime Sadness." Her 2014 set, Ultraviolence, hit #1, and 2015's Honeymoon was on track for a similar bow but was kept from a #1 debut by the Drake-Future mixtape. She continues to enjoy a huge, active social following (10m Instagram followers, 6.6m Twitter) and big streams. Tyler, a co-founder of the Odd Future crew, emerged with a raw, confrontational hip-hop style around 2011 and scored Top 3 bows with 2013's Wolf and 2015's Cherry Bomb. With his substantial streaming presence, network of affiliated artists, knack for cultivating controversy and formidable online following (4.1m on Twitter, 3.5m Instagram), he continues to be dangerous. Hip-hop veteran Meek Mill remains a vital presence, with substantial streaming stats (including 7.5m monthly listeners on Spotify), though rumors continue to swirl about his inner circle of career advisers. Meanwhile, another possible competitor could conceivably make this a four-way race. I thought there was already a thread here, but maybe not. Any fans? They seem like an obvious if unspoken influence on Lana. Their new album, Strange Little Birds, is out next Friday (June 10), and is already streaming on Apple Music. It's fantastic. "Night Drive Loneliness" is pure proto-Lana shot through the lens of an industrial noir thriller. "If I Lost You" veers close to moody mid-90s Madonna with a heavy trip-hop melancholy added. Lead single is "Empty": "Even Though Our Love Is Doomed": (Described as the heart of the album) It's hard to beat their first two immaculate albums, but this new one is sitting pretty well with me. Excited to see them on the road this summer.

After absorbing, admiring and being astonished by Art Angels, I can't help but wonder what would happen if Lana had a perspective on creativity, work ethic, evolution, and inspiration a bit more like Grimes... So much respect. She's truly proving that all challenges can be accepted and exceeded with hard work and a devoted vision to carry out.
