  1. I don't think he has offered her roles or something despite the source given.  He has probably talked about the gatsby soundtrack.

And I think she knows her place. We have all seen her acting in Tropico. The brief part where she was talking was  :toofunny:

Harvey had nothing to do with Gatsby. I'm guessing he offered her a role (not necessarily a lead role) and she turned it down because she was either not confident in her acting or wanted to focus on music or something like that. Why else would he have lunch with her? There's tons of pretty girls who want to get close to him.

  2. Lana Del Rey has allegedly been approached by Harvey Weinstein over a potential movie career.

The 'Born to Die' singer was tapped by the Miramax co-founder to star in a film project that he believes would be "perfect" for her, reports The Sun.

"Harvey thinks there's something about Lana. He knows all about her music but believes she's got what it takes to be a film star," a source said.

"She's got the looks and a stage presence which he thinks will transfer well to the big screen.

"Critics have even claimed that the star plays a part all the time as Lana."

this was in 2012 but people in film who are liked by harvey weinstein tend to do pretty well

  3. well, I remember her talking about doing a soundtrack for a movie about a man whose best friend passes away. and then another film set in the 20s. [poss sin city: a dame to kill for?] there's also Bond 24 which comes out in 2015 and Quentin Tarantino has a new project in development, that'd be cool to see her sing on the soundtrack for one or both of those films

that's cancelled bc the script leaked and he's rly mad

  4. Well dah, that just shows Lana doesn't care about success that much.

I mean, she hardly promoted Ride, and didn't have too many Tv appearances.

I hope Interscope will push her like crazy and put her on all those talk shows as part of the promotion campaign for Ultraviolencen she could go to Ellen, Conan O'Bryan show, Alan Carr, etc...but anyway, back then she didn't have radio support but now she does, so I'm sure the next era will be totally different.

If she does go on talk shows I want her to go on Craig Ferguson. He's like ultra-flirty and he's funny + he's Scottish so maybe she could talk about Barrie and her visiting Scotland. I really don't like Ellen and Conan but Alan Carr can be cool. And David Letterman would probably lust over her which would make her feel good.

  5. hopefully not :defeated:

honestly even tho National Anthem is a great song i find it's not a great closer and she's been closing so many performances with it :defeated:

I actually think it's a great closer and I love how the band plays it without her at the end and she takes photos and signs stuff for fans at the end.

  6. She's just going to sing the same songs as on the Paradise tour so

    1. Cola
    2. Body Electric
    3. Blue Jeans
    4. Born to Die
    5. Carmen
    6. Blue Velvet
    7. Young & Beautiful
    8. American
    9. Without You
    10. Knockin' on Heaven's Door
    11. Ride
    12. Summertime Sadness
    13. Burning Desire
    14. Video Games
    15. National Anthem

This is what she sang at the concert I went to. Idk how long Coachella sets are so maybe she'll do fewer songs.

  7. I don't think a US tour is so far out of reach as you seem to say. I remember reading somewhere that Lana was gonna tour the US in 2012 during the summer but canceled because of the SNL backlash and I think part of that decision was from Interscope. They realized that America wasn't too keen on her and decided to focus on Europe where the people loved her. Now she's had a song in the top 10 (even if it's a remix, it's putting her name out there), she's nominated for two (or three depending on if you count the SS remix, but I personally don't) Grammys, she's performing at Cochella, and it looked like there was a pretty good turn out for the Tropico premiere. Lana is in demand in the US and you can really tell by the excitement for Ultraviolence. So I think that Interscope would really want her to tour America with this album to help keep her in the public eye and show those critics that bashed her that she really is a talented artist.

I want to go back to something you said earlier. You acknowledged that you didn’t have a great welcoming into the American public eye, but now, a year and half after Born to Die came out, you’re connecting with a new audience via the “Summertime Sadness” remix at Top 40 radio.

Lana: It just reinforces the fact that… not that nothing really matters, but that other people’s opinions don’t really matter because it can change on a dime. And if people are so ready to change, maybe they don’t have the strongest character. I’m not as interested in flip-floppers. I kind of feel blessed the more I go along. I have a young brother and sister, and it’s gotten really basic for me and become about the family. How are we all going to live together if I’m on the road? Are they going to come with me? Will I ever go home again? Probably not.

My new product manager, whom I’d never met before, brought me a SoundScan to show me that “Summertime Sadness” was being spun, a lot of times in L.A. and in New York. It kind of just doesn’t feel like it’s mine, ‘cause I’ve had such a hand up to my face for so long.

I'm not against Lana playing in the US at all, I think it'd be great if she did but I don't think people should get her hopes up because we've expected American dates a few times now and she only played only played one big festival last year, and one this year.

  8. Yeah, that's why I expect some collaborations.  It's a classic big label move to prop up anything with another successful artist.  I fully expect a large US tour at medium-sized venues (she's not going to be doing the Staples Center but Madison Square Garden is a possibility).

I honestly wouldn't be surprised with some EDM-influenced tracks.  I only have anecdotal evidence, but a lot of people seem to say "she's okay, her electronic stuff is cool" which basically means the remixes.  It'd be interesting how Black Beauty plays into that, but honestly I like Black Beauty more than the EDM stuff.  For non-fans but casual people who know who she is -- it falls into two camps:  people who like "Video Games" and "Blue Jeans" ("Black Beauty" plays to this sensibility) and then "Summertime Sadness" and the remixes.  The slow songs by nature just aren't good for radio, especially sad ones like Lana writes unfortunately.  I don't expect something like "Black Beauty" or AFFA to be a single or anything, but they'll have a place on the album.

I hate analyzing this merely as business because I'm sure there's some creative leeway Lana has.  If anything, there will be more unreleased stuff at least whatever the label decides to do.  But you're absolutely right, airplay is the name of the game and Interscope is going to try very hard to push it.

I think you're overestimating Interscope's influence on Lana's music. With a lot of musicians, the labels do have a lot of influence and tend to push their opinion but Lana seems to be pretty good at getting her way with them. She said they didn't like Paradise but she managed to release that, barely any singles, she got them to finance Tropico which probably isn't making them a lot of money (I mean the tickets were free and I doubt too many people are buying songs we already have) and she has never toured the US properly. I actually think it's quite impressive how much power Lana seems to have, she just does whatever she wants and I think she'll do the same with Ultraviolence. And I really wouldn't expect a US tour, I mean it would be cool if she does it and she may surprise everyone but if you expect it you'll just be let down.

  9. Does anyone here know what the meaning behind 108 is? Like, I read it was about her being exploited and it was also inspired by a Swedish film and Laurie Anderson but what's 108?

  10. I was reading through the TV in B&W tag on Tumblr and I saw two separate people saying they heard it playing in a store.

Now I have no proof it was actually that song, or that it actually happened, just thought I should share.

But if it's true, do you think it could be on UV?

A lot of Lana's unreleased songs have randomly played on the radio and in stores in stuff, doesn't mean it'll be on the new album.
