  1. Hm. maybe if we weren’t living in a world where you’re more likely to get expelled for plagiarizing a paper than you are raping a girl in your dorm…. where rape is one of the hardest things to prove & rarely EVER persecuted…. where ideas about victims somehow being inherently guilty of something are not perpetuated...where rapists are not constantly being defended and excused…. yeah maybe if all that wasn’t going on, depicting rape in some eli roth styled trash wouldn’t be harmful. but in this day and age, do you really think it's good to be depicting rape as something sexy, with goofy slow mo shots of her hair whipping back like she's a model, nails digging into his arm (which could be a clip of any standard softcore porn), shit like that? its glamorization and hyper sexualization of a crime that is centered around control and degradation. a rape scene shouldn't be hot.
  2. hey bud, if the general reaction to a rape scene is “well this is kind of hot” ….. something is wrong. Not about being "sensitive pussies" as you so eloquently put it. you really think that of all the ways to depict rape, the “let’s get her looking stunning and sexy and glimmering in cute little panties” route is the best one?
  3. uhhh.. that's exactly my point. the show is not concerned with hyper-realistic portrayals of the times & if you wanted to get into it, there are SO MANY inaccuracies throughout the show's past seasons, so why would a tiny anachronism matter? one hiccup among several. it'd be weird if a show like carnivale, that was a real period show & worked each detail down to the magazines the characters would flip through to represent the dustbowl era correctly had an anachronism. but something fun and surreal like AHS..? i just don't see the dilemma here.
  4. a show like american horror story, which always has supernatural elements & is not at all realistic, and you guys are getting worked up over the potential of a tiny anachronism in a song?

Are you kidding me? I was (and am) totally honored you created it.
  7. both are great but i like flipside the most. i really wish it had taken the place of guns and roses honestly - i'm still trying to figure out why that was put on ultraviolence anyways flipside flipside flipside
  8. still laughing about this part of the guardian's review: "It takes 50 seconds of Ultraviolence for the first bad-boy boyfriend to turn up – "you got your gun and you like to party" – and 80 before our old friend the red dress hoves into view." our old friend the red dress
  9. money power glory is my favorite guns and roses is probably my least favorite, feels like a filler track.
  10. is this in one of the songs? i was praying it had connection to ultraviolence
  11. lanashadesofcool just put it on dropbox for anyone having trouble
  12. no, it's a zip! i'm on a mac, click the link at the top and wait, it takes a minute to go, probably because so many people are grabbing it.
  13. still most in love with money power glory at this point but that isn't to say all of these songs are breathtaking
  14. ugh was praying for cruel world but they reached their audio limit NEVERMIND WOW IT'S THERE
  15. i don't think so, they said "Someone else will leak Ultraviolence. I don’t want to be the one with blood on my hands."
  16. hmm google doesn't say which things specifically were removed, but it appears a few torrents for ultraviolence went up that were taken down under the US digital millennium copyright act. so it could be possible that someone/some people have leaked it but her team is really REALLY on it?
  17. I did a really messy live take of Lana's "Cola" (sorry to link some random girl's tumblr, but I deleted it off my own so the original post is gone) http://dizzytails.tumblr.com/post/82199136389/
  18. are you really trying to compare a loaded fucking word like "whore" - which is used to humiliate, dehumanize, shame ETC ETC ETC women for having sex/doing anything in sexual nature to ...calling a dude a wanker? which means what exactly? i have never heard anyone call a dude a wanker before in my life. know how many times i've heard men call women whores - for doing pretty much anything, from wearing short dresses to flirting at a party to having consentual sex? give me a break.
