What Lana is trying to say: I feel ostracized by a multitude of different vocal groups and I just want to feel like I'm accepted for who I am. That my art has a place somewhere. That I can gain the same notoriety and respect of my peers that I admire without feeling as if I'm working against an uphill battle. I feel lost without knowing my place in this industry and I've been struggling for years.

What Lana posts: Fragile women need a platform too. Why do all these women get praised for doing this but I get hated on? Fuck off if you don't understand me. (read with a pissed off NY accent)

There's people that understand what she wants to express and others that don't. I don't fault either. And I do empathise more with Lana after her video because it shows that she's speaking from an emotional place, whereas I previously thought it was due to defensiveness/arrogance. When you're in an emotional state it's difficult to properly formulate yourself in the "right" manner. So I think we (me) should go easier on her.

I'm skipping everything that touches this situation. I don't need this amount of negativity in my life.

She probably found out that a song produced by a rapist and performed by a homophobic and a pedophile supporter went to #1 and was like "Ok thats it I've had it"

Love her message, love her biting back at the media, love her making art and releasing it, love her fire coming out again.

But the way she phrased her post makes it too easy to misinterpret her.

To me, she’s asking if now that it’s normal and celebrated to make songs about sex, being sexual, taking agency over your body, etc, if she can go back to writing about more raunchier topics without being dragged by the critics. She is not saying women should be judged for writing about those things, she is just pointing out how her lyrics get put down as non feminist just because she’s being more submissive to men in her sexual scenarios, as opposed to being more dominant and in power. She’s wondering if feminism has a space for women like her, who love hard and fall hard and will do anything for her man.

She’s not dragging other women, She just wants the freedom to sing about what she wants without being seen as weak or like someone who is against women’s rights.

Wish she would have phrased it better but what can you do. She’s never been the best at explaining herself, i think that’s why she makes such good art. It’s the only way she knows how to get her words across.
