For the ladies on this forum please get birth control if you can.

A federal abortion ban - HB78 - has been introduced into the House. I will be watching this bill to see what happens with it. (Thank god I refilled Nexplanon in my arm 2 months ago. I’ll be good on my birth control for Trump’s - hopefully - last term.)

drier than ben shapiro's wife in here -
Yep he probably made a bet with his buddies because he’s only surrounded by yes men on his payroll, not real friends. There is no way the richest man on earth hasn’t been through media training to know NOT TO DO A SALUTE

When are tickets!!! -
this is the richest man on earth btw.
-
yep this is the take. because he is a 53 year old man, he’s not a child. he knows what he did and if he was normal he would immediately come out and address it, but he didn’t. with the added context of him reposting outwardly anti-Semitic posts on X, he is most likely just a straight up nazi, at least, someone who aligns ideologically with fascism
-
this is what I was also thinking. he is so incredibly awkward. edit: no excuses. a normal person would come out and apologize if it was a legitimate unintentional act.
-
I briefly mentioned this earlier in the thread - I’m glad mainstream media is picking up on it because I was worried it was going to get buried. that gesture has no place in a civilized society and coming from the world’s richest man is genuinely appalling. he needs to address it ASAP

As a cis person it’s so easy for me to say “just ignore these freaks” but the reality is it’s already stigmatized enough to be a trans person and now there’s the added burden laws designed to hurt trans people. At this point it’s literally an act of defiance just simply existing as a trans person. Hopefully Lanaboards can be a safe place for you guys since it’s gonna be tough for the next however many years

Trump is doing isolationism (pulling us out of the Paris climate accord, the World Health Organization - I suspect NATO in the future?) while simultaneously threatening to annex Canada, Greenland, and the Panama Canal. It’s giving imperialism

in a separate thread I recall your pushback against universal healthcare in America, now your negative comments against WHO — think it’s pretty obvious your right-wing slant in this forum lol

I’ll change the subject remember when Lana attempted whatever this is
-
Mer this was a perfectly succinct way of what I was trying to express. Thank you.

I enjoy Lana’s flirting with dark themes in her music. UV is my favorite album of hers for this reason. I do not think she condones domestic violence, nor glorifies it. My own personal belief is that she tends to surround herself with strange people - i.e. Jack’s bizarre instagram posts, this bodyguard who is being accused of pretty heinous behavior, and her husband - I’ll be respectful and give him the benefit of the doubt because they’re married, and he seems like he has a kind heart - but he outwardly posted violent things on his Facebook. You misinterpreted my (admittedly badly-worded) indictment of the Smarty lyric as a sign that she’s okay with domestic abuse. I am moreso speaking to her tendency to align herself with morally dubious men, and her reluctance to distance herself from them.
-
We’re also out of the Paris climate accord… AGAIN
-
Yeah and I think it’s important to recognize there are victims of abuse who have criticized UV and other dubious lyrics she’s written.

Man I am terrified for these undocumented immigrants it’s so heartbreaking to know that these people are going to be potentially punished for seeking a better life only to get sucked up by America’s failed immigration and documentation system. We need a path to citizenship and it has been broken for decades. Now trump is going to ruin peoples lives through hideous anti-immigration policies and say he’s saving us from “invaders.” As if we’re not all descendants of immigrants.

That’s what I like about her. I really enjoy art that touches on dark topics if it’s done well. I don’t necessarily think ultraviolence was particularly “responsible” songwriting, but it’s not always the narrator’s place to be responsible In the case of this bodyguard, if the allegations are true she should make the right decision and get rid of him. My overall point is that I think she’s done plenty of fucked up shit and that makes its way into her art but also her personal decisions. I like her regardless, honestly. @fl0r1dakil0s just read my comment on her Smarty lyric in bad faith. That’s all. Edit: would like to clarify I do not think Elizabeth grant is an immoral person. Lol
-
Who tf do you think wrote these lyrics?
-
Lana seems like a lovely, fucked up weirdo who makes great music and bad personal decisions. This became clear to me when she shit on feminism in 2014 and then dated a cop Nothing about this situation is surprising to me personally ”Beat me and tell me that no one will love me better than you do” are lyrics that come out of someone who is really not quite morally all there And yet she’s been my fave for over a decade. It is what it is

Okay so Elon just did the N*zi salute. Chat we are cooked
-
Why did I think those dogs belonged to that ex boyfriend of hers?
-
still waiting on this declaration of national emergency he said he was going to “deliver on day one”
-
the way this wouldn’t even be a story. domestic violence is unfortunately so common. the only way it would make news is if the girl was held up in a basement or something
