The way y'all pay this cover dust so before the album released I used to listen to the original version of "For Free" since Lana performed it live at the concert I went to and ever since then I was skeptical as to how Lana would include it on the album (and she had turned it into a trio version from the Hollywood Ball). I used to listen to Joni's version religiously and after Chemtrails I didn't go back to the original until a few days ago and I must say: Lana outdid Joni. Dividing the verses to three singers makes so much sense and if anything it's a testament to her genius and how she always ALWAYS brings something new to her renditions of songs. Stop paying this song dust it's literally amazing I know Joni is proud of her.

im honestly curious about how this album is gonna go now but I agree about the Mike part I can't wait for him to bedazzle us with his synths

I've been listening to Love Drought a lot (a song produced by MIKE DEAN) and I'm pretty sure they're saving his godly production for the album after Blue Banisters - Lana probably told him about the direction she was looking for and he delivered so let's sit and wait babes

i don’t think we’d get a cover with this album tbh - if cherry blossom is on this album it would be the perfect closer - and if we do eventually get a cover i don’t think it’d be diamonds and rust i personally don’t think it would suit the album’s themes and as i mentioned before all the songs we know of so far make references to other songs so it’s probably just a nice reference to baez

the desperation in this thread just wanna say that i streamed the three singles again and they’re so godly i can’t wait to hear them in context with the album

imo it adds layers to the song and it vastly improves the storytelling in the song - one of her best songs absolutely chilling

anyways I wanna point out that BB will probably be a folk and jazz fusion - Joni did the same after releasing a folky album and as we know that Lana is like a huge Joni stan it wouldn't be surprising for her to emulate it and add her own spin to it (as seen on tracks Text Book and Wildflower Wildfire)
