"Loved You Then" was probably reworked for this album mark my words
also I lowkey want a mv for BB in the same vein as the "Obsessions" mv by MARINA - like imagine Lana, Jenny, and Nikki painting the blue banisters green and gray - I'll hope that's included in the actual mv tho
-
BB being the opener would be so bold it'd be her first album that doesn't open with a dramatic intro - but idk maybe "Loved You Then" could be the first track or some other track we don't know about - but other than that I'm down for BB being the opener
also I've been visualizing the album cover all day and just imagine the serve we'd get with Nadia Lee

I think Lana's true idea of revenge is forcing the critics to pay attention to the music with those revealing yet poetic lyrics - mark my words she's gonna top NFR! in terms of critical reception and lyrical content just look at how amazing the three songs are!
She's gonna blow us out of the water I just know it

Again, it's not inherently wrong to do so, but I just don't think they need to permeate every aspect of her work. I don't think it adds to her work to put them in everything, and I think their inclusion would be more meaningful if they were included less frequently.
That is all.
They're guilty of the same occasional namedrops as Lana - but if we're talking about visuals and all that then that's on her.
You're just complaining about an artist that deeply appreciates her friends and family and tbh that's not something we see artists do all the time.
I understand the frustration but I think it's something to appreciate especially with an artist of her caliber

The likes of Joni Mitchell, Janis Joplin, and St. Vincent just to name a few

Who cares if Chunk is baking a damn cake; that line (for example) adds nothing to the song and it's not exactly a showcase of spectacular lyricism.
Aside from making it personal and imo giving the songs a classic twang - I'd argue that the context of #that lyric paired with the rest of the things she mentions in that verse fit so perfectly. She basically mentions the good things that are happening around her: her "banisters" being painted green and grey that allude to her being in a lively but still neutral ascending state (hence the banisters metaphor), her dogs playing around, chuck baking a birthday cake and a baby on the way (all positive good happy whatever things) just goes to show how the people or things that you surround yourself with really affects you: and she ends that verse with the realization that her blue banisters are green and grey now. That's spectacular lyricism if you ask me...

I have no issue with the name dropping in songs it makes the songs classics - she's doing it in the vein of a singer/songwriter and it fits

the July 4th release date is just iconic - Lana being known as americana obsessed and making July 4th about her...
it just screams iconicry to me

bringing this back...
Spoilerso do we still think these are poems or possible songs from this record?

but seriously speaking I'm sure she'd have a great album cover to go along with those beautiful songs (and the rest of the album )

all the things I couldn’t want for him” is an oxymoron unless she meant she didn’t want discrimination for him or for him to have the same love as her -it does not make sense
the line could refer to her wanting to get her father's approval for the relationship and to show him that the dude is capable of fighting the same battles as her - and the lyric after it explains her screaming for the things that weren't possible to desire from the relationship
-
5 minutes ago, evalionisameme said:Why put it in the same chorus then?
it’s disjointed and badly worded, BLM shouldn’t be in the song as a throwaway lyric it just sounds disconnected like she threw two sets of lyrics together.
read through the lyrics the entire chorus makes sense

the godflower godfire slander stops now! it's amazing and there's still many opportunities with Mike I still have hope

Fine China too they resonate with the album's poetic undertones and sound

that lyric has nothing to do with the blm lyric it connects to "all the things I couldn't want for him"
