    This is truly sublime. It would be at the top of the charts in 1986 for 14 weeks! Right there next to Take My Breath Away.

     

    It has that hopeful, romantic, dreamy feel of 80s ballads, yet is totally true to Lana's original recording. I love how it develops and deepens as it goes.

    I wrote something here before but later felt ick about it. I do think that it's healthy and valuable to be able to critique your fave, coming from a spirit of appreciation and respecting the work enough to take it seriously. But when you love them so much it can feel gross.

    Have to agree. If the piano and vocals were way up front in the mix it would make all the difference, instead of burying them in layers of soft rock.

     

    She needs to dictate the timing, pauses, breathing, and drama with her instrument and voice. That's her superpower.

    Imagining she reactivated in a moment of weakness and was immediately tackled by Rob, Charlie, Tex & Mex, 3 insiders, the pretty blond friend, a chicken, and Nikki Lane. 

     

    The amount of time the account was active was however long it took them to pry the phone out of her hand.
