That's also how I interpreted it.

Didn't they break up?
Kintsugi was recorded in April 2022, they were together during that time.

SpoilerThese lyrics appear to be from a song that discusses a complex and emotionally challenging romantic relationship. The lyrics feature vivid imagery, metaphors, and repetition to convey the singer's feelings and experiences. The main theme of the song revolves around the idea that the partner wants the singer to be "sadder." This could be interpreted as the partner desiring vulnerability or emotional instability in the singer, possibly to maintain control or to make themselves feel more needed.
The chorus repeats the line "Don't you dare say that you'll braid my hair babe," which may symbolize a promise of emotional support and intimacy that the partner doesn't truly intend to fulfill. The singer repeatedly asks their partner not to make these promises if they don't actually care.
Throughout the song, the singer reflects on past moments and memories, such as swinging in a nightgown under an old oak tree or sunning in the LA river bed. These images evoke feelings of nostalgia and longing for a simpler time in the relationship when things were less complicated.
There's also an interesting juxtaposition between the black and white palm trees and the singer's technicolor view, suggesting a contrast between the partner's monochromatic outlook and the singer's more vivid perspective. The line "Maybe I’ll take my glasses off so I stop painting red flags green" suggests that the singer might be realizing they have been overlooking or rationalizing negative aspects of the relationship.
Overall, the song's lyrics convey a sense of emotional struggle, vulnerability, and longing for a more genuine connection within a romantic relationship. The vivid imagery and poetic language add depth to the emotions expressed and encourage listeners to engage with the themes and emotions presented.

SpoilerThe strings in Candy Necklace at 3:30 sound so good and dark, can't wait to hear it in HQ.

That's what I hear, that would also add up with the "but i have good intentions", implying she has made mistakes.

Red flags (I hear the L sound), their black dice (I feel like he’s definitely saying black here, not certain about dice though lol), their black eyes, their blue eyes (I don’t hear the L sound so I think it’s eyes)
I also hear
better run, better run run run run like your head’s on fire
I’m hoping that once the album comes out it will be easier to figure out!! This song and Jon Batiste I want to figure out so bad! Lol
SpoilerThis is so weird because I definitely hear white as the second color

They are unmastered based on their lengths but I don't know if the final version will sound noticeable different. We will see on Friday.

SpoilerWords on my friends
With their red fires, their white ice, their black eyes, and their blue lies
If you're asking yourself, “how do you know?”
Then that's your answer, the answer is no
Run around, run around like your head is on fire, run away like your head is on fire
-
SpoilerWords are my friends
But they're red flags, they're white guys, they’re black eyes, and they're blue lies
Does anyone know if these lyrics are correct? Especially the parts I've marked bold.

Sold on LDRVillage, seems to be a pop-up exclusive? The second one is the one Lana showed on TikTok.

SpoilerCause I’m good in spirit, warm-bodied
a fallible deity wrapped up in white
I’m folk, I’m jazz, I’m blue, I’m green
Regrettably also a white woman
The white woman line makes more sense with her saying she is fallible in the previous line.

1 minute ago, DCooper said:Do you think the songs will actually sound any different?
I don't know at what point of the album process the songs were stolen, but I don't expect any major differences. Maybe the studio chatter at the end will be cut from some songs and the final files will sound slightly better.

Just now, sjatib said:How do we know they are unmastered?
Compare the duration of the leaked files with the ones on streaming / CD.

SpoilerI actually like Jack's part in Margaret, the way he mumbles is fun, I keep trying to decipher what he is saying

so in my opinion, this description actually checks out (for once)
It seems I looked at the song more from the lyric perspective, that's why I didn't make the connection.

13 minutes ago, Fingertips said:SpoilerInteresting, I have interpreted it as a song about her and her boyfriend at the time who was struggling with addiction. I guess I can see it with the dancing and Rockefeller lines and the strings in the instrumentals, but it's not what came into my memory when listening to it.

1 minute ago, margaret soty said:the five different versions of Candy Necklace are a fact.
I guess the Rockefeller mention is all they remembered so they thought this is a song about high society.

OctoberSeptember 2022.Candy Necklace is likely from August 2022 based on when Lana shared the snippet from the studio.
Fingertips and Ocean Blvd were the first two tracks, so around September 2021 if I had to guess.
