I agree. I don't like listening to music where the singer didn't write the lyrics. It's kinda understandable/forgivable for some big pop acts, but indie singers like Sky all kind of write their own lyrics - that is their brand if you will. Lana, Lorde, Halsey, you name them, all write their own lyrics. Sky not writing her own music is surprising and honestly disappointing. She does seem like a v intelligent and artistic person tho so I would like to assume that she does have a substantial amount of input.

Oh dear that's interesting indeed. I assumed that she - like all the other indie singer girlies - writes her own lyrics. So like, did she write anything for Guardian or Everything is Embarrassing? Like did she get the whole first album just served to her and she recorded vocals or does she actually do anything? Her Pitchfork story made it seem like she assembles every song hands on from the ground up and looks for musicians who can play the things she hears in her head etc. Is that all lies?

I’ve been listening to Sky for years, but I’m not really that clued into her creative process. Does she actually write songs? Like she’s credited as the main songwriter on all the songs of her first album, but someone has said on here that Tamaryn wrote all the songs on Masochism? Or did they mean that she wrote them with Sky? Because if Sky didn’t write a single song on Masochism, that changes a lot for me lmao.

I hope so. I’m not sure if they’re given exact dates etc. tho. I think Sky and the label just give them little nuggets here and there such as telling them that they’re filming a music video or that a release is coming soon, but I would be surprised if they just inboxed them telling them “Don’t Forget is coming XX/XX/2022” because the person running the account could just run and spill that info.

Let's not do this please. Addiction is a serious topic and this is just music. There is no need to speculate about her private life like that. At all. The comment made by visionary is honestly quite horrible so can we not bring that energy to this thread?

I'm not even a massive fan of hers, but the 9 year long rollout and the teaser from a few weeks ago have got me in a choke hold. The first thing I do every couple hours is check if she's announced it lmao. So her label succeeded with posting that teaser and running away again haha. I didn't want to listen to the leaks at first since I was expecting it to drop like last week, but now I am slowly getting impatient lmao. I will say tho: I am still pretty sure the album is coming this year. She sounded quite confident in her Pitchfork story from 2019 that it was taking shape and I have a feeling the additional delay was due to the pandemic. With the way she makes music, it was definitely very hard to assemble songs in a worldwide lockdown so I'm willing to give her the benefit of the doubt in that regard. All those festival bookings and her mixing stuff at the Capitol studios must mean something so I think we will see the record - whatever it ends up being called - this year.
