  1. Hey, it's me again hehe. What do you guys, girls and non-binary lads think about these ones:

    • 'West Coast'

Is it 'I'm feeling hotter than fire' or 'hot and on fire'?

    • 'God Bless America'

    a). Bridge option 1:

Even with you I've got no one to lose
So you'd better believe that nobody
    Can make me feel lonely
    Because I hear (Sweetest melodies)
Even when you talk that talk with the lights on
I still somehow know that I'll never feel
    Ever feel lonely
I have no fear (It's got me thinking, yeah).

    VS.

    b). Bridge option 2:

Even when I walk, I walk with the lord

So you better believe that nobody

    Can make me feel lonely

    Because I hear (sweetest melodies)

Even when I talk, I talk with the lord's by my side

So I know that I'll never feel, ever feel lonely

I have no fear, it's got me thinking (yeah

  2. Have y'all listened to the acapella of 'Born to Die'. It surprised me that the line was:

'I feel so alone on the Friday nights'

Instead of being 'on a Friday night'. I know she sings it that way live nowadays (and even 'every Friday night'), but listen to the acapella version and you'll hear what I'm talking about.

This thread is kinda blowing my mind. I hate her for not giving us official lyrics! "Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood" -- but this thread proves we're all misunderstanding her lol

I can't believe no one has mentioned Florida Kilos yet:

____ in my mouth & gold hoops ???? Sun in my mouth?

White lines, pretty daddy,  _____ ??? go ski it? Gold skin?

You snort it like a champ, like the _____ ??? Winter we're not in? Winner, winner...?

    THIS.

    • 'Florida Kilos'

We NEED to know what the hell is she even saying in the verse quoted by @strangeweather.

    • 'Sad Girl'

Do y'all think it is; 'creeping around on the side' or 'we've been around on the side'?

    • 'Ultraviolence'

I know we all agree that the lyrics from the bridge are; 'blessed is this union', but 'blessed' sounds weird to me, it sounds like 'blessed is this - this union"

    • 'God Bless America'

Also, have we already established what are the canon lyrics from the bridge from "God Bless America"?

    • 'Swan Song':

Is it 'Dive in, dive deep in dark blue my suede'? As a non-native English speaker, could somebody tell me if it does actually makes sense?

    • 'Is This Happiness"

I've got my DARE vs I've got my DAD?

    • 'Get Free'

"Gone is the burden... "from the Crowley way of being" VS "from the crowd, the way of being"

    • 'Venice Bitch'

"Life's dream, I'm sweet for you" VS "Livestream, I'm sweet for you"

    We need answers, Elizabeth Grant.

The lyrics are "with ribbons in knots" for the studio version and she adds 'my' live and makes it "with my ribbons in knots".

The lyrics goes "so i do what you want with ribbons in knots", her hands are tied up (she gestures live) and she does whatever this guy wants.

    :hair:

So the lyrics in 'Music to Watch Boys to' was NEVER "blue ribbons on ice"?!? I'm shocked.

Also, what do y'all think about the line:

"Playing their guitars, only one of my toys"

    being

"I play 'em like guitars, only one of my toys".

I remember buying a 'Honeymoon' songbook and it was written that way but idk.

  5. So, we can conclude that in 'Salvatore' the word is 'Calciatore', right? Thanks @Eclipse <3

Oh, how I wish we could have the chance to ask Lana what are the official lyrics to some of her songs. It irks me when in meet & greets fans waste the opportunity to ask her the real questions. 'Lana, what the fuck are you saying in the bridge of Cherry?', for instance.

I truly WISH she released a book of her lyrics (something like Florence's 'Useless Magic') — it's not like she's the one who's going to write them from scratch, she just has to proofread them and detect the mistakes and ask someone to edit them and call it a day. Smh.

A damn shame Lana's too lazy to have her lyrics printed in the album booklets. She only did it with Born to Die. It would be really helpful.

I thought it was money on the side too. lol

    I always thought it was;

    His Bonnie on the side
    Bonnie on the side

    And then
    His money on the side
    Money on the side

  7. Fellow Lana worshipers, I'm a soul in need. We all know Lana likes to adopt certain accents or ways of pronouncing words that make some of them hard to be understood clearly. Do you have problems understanding what Lana's trying to say in certain songs? Here is a list of mine, if you also have doubts about what the hell is she saying in some of her songs, and —just like me— would like to find out the real words, please add your lyrics so we could make them out clearly (or try to guess what sounds the most logical, at least).

    • 'Lust For Life'

-There's no need for us to:

    • come away

    • complain

    • come and lay

    -Too much fun tonight:

    • And A lust for life

    • And OUR lust for life

    • 'Sad Girl'

-His Bonnie on the side makes me:

    • sad, sad, girl

    • a sad, sad girl

    • so sad, girl

    • 'Shades of Cool'

    -I'm one of many:

    • Bonnies blue

    • One is blue

•'Fuck My Way Up to the Top'

    -Tell me something:

    • Like, I'm your favorite girl

    • Nice, 'bout your favorite girl

    • 'Fuck It I Love You'

-California dreamin' got my money on my mind:

    • jazz is in my veins

    • drugs is in my veins

    • chances in my veins

Imagine a Born To Die anniversary release with the bonus tracks and demos! I'd buy that.

They would definitely do that for the 10th year anniversary! Maybe including some outtakes fully mastered and produced.

    Something like this:

    CD1 — Standard Edition + 3 Bonus Tracks

CD2 — Outtakes (Kinda Outta Luck, You Can Be the Boss, Damn You, Driving in Cars With Boys, and such).

  9. I said it once, and I'll say it again – I have no idea what is it that Lana finds so groundbreaking about Jack Antonoff's production skills. She has described him as being prodigious with his choice of chords, and that when she first heard the chord progression of 'Love Song' she realized he was a musical genius, the second coming of Mozart and what-not.

    Sure!

I just remember reading a couple of articles/reviews of 'West Coast' (or in certain cases 'Ultraviolence') back in April of 2014 (and subsequently June of 2014) drawing comparisons between Lana's song and Stevie's; the "ooh baby, ooh baby" 1, 2, there was also a French Canadian article (in 'La Presse') that mentioned that comparison as well, but I can't seem to find it. Also mentioning that the guitar riff sounded similar to the one at the beginning the Beatles' song 'And I Love Her'. Or that the siren that comes in during the last part of the song sounded similar to the one found in both 'Kill Bill' movies soundtracks. Not sure if all of those were intentional on Lana and Dan's part, but I like to think they were. I find that they add even more layers to the song. 'West Coast' is a masterpiece of a song!

Random fact, but that siren-like sound at the end is known as the 'G-Funk' West Coast synth sound; prominent in the late 80's and early 90's hip hop movement (songs like "Gin and Juice" by Snoop Dogg, "Nothing But A G Thang" by Dr. Dre, among several other hip hop songs). It was a big thing back in the day. I'm pretty sure it was added as a nod/homage to that.

  11. Hey, I was wondering if any caritative soul could help me to find her version of "Du Är Den Ende" in mp3/m4a. I've tried to buy it but I can't seem to find where to do so!

  12. "In the Flats of Melrose"

(From the book Violet Bent Backwards Over the Grass).

    Spoiler

What will it take for me not to feel like the train will

run away with me bound up like the sad heroine tied to the last car

What will it take for me not to need you

so I can just have you for fun

and for who you really are

    Not you as the savior

    not me as Ophelia

not us putting our faith in the public's dark art

    Topanga on Sunday?

    two cats in the yard

    NPR rumbling quietly

    a fire in the hearth

me with a knowingness deep in my heart

    that nothing could stop me

    no valley too far

to walk through in darkness to keep us apart.

And that we don't need fighting to find resolution

that not every marriage ends in the dissolution

    that I don't need you

    but I want you

    because you're so cool

    and I'm not that damaged

and ur not hell-bent on being some indie director

or whatever pipe dream you and your friends are smoking

That it's enough just for us

to be sitting in the flats of Melrose

    my heart on fire

    a tallboy cracked open

    I love you Josiah

    I'm sorry I'm still broken

but I could still make you happy.

    Let's pour one out

    to knowing

    not hoping.

I know I'm complaining about the lack of info this era but like... It's no wonder Norman felt kinda dead on arrival for me. I guess there's some element of mystery (maybe a little too much haha) when it comes to the Chemtrails release.

    1. Norman Fucking Rockwell (a snippet was released officially ahead of album - as part of album trailer)
    2. Mariners Apartment Complex (released officially ahead of album)
    3. Venice Bitch (released officially ahead of album)
    4. Fuck It, I Love You (released officially ahead of album)
    5. Doin' Time (released officially ahead of album)
    6. Love Song (a snippet was teased via Instagram ahead of album)
    7. Cinnamon Girl (multiple snippets were teased via Instagram ahead of album)
    8. How To Disappear (a snippet was teased via Instagram and the song performed live, in full, ahead of album)
    9. California (a snippet was teased via Instagram ahead of album)
    10. The Next Best American Record (demo leaked in full ahead of album)
    11. The Greatest (released officially ahead of album)
    12. Bartender
    13. Happiness Is A Butterfly (multiple snippets were teased via Instagram ahead of album)
    14. hope is a dangerous thing for a woman like me to have (released officially ahead of album)

I get where you're coming from, having some element of mystery adds up to the hype and satisfaction of listening to a record for the first time ever. With Ultraviolence we had half the first record out (sans Cruel World). Honeymoon was a good example of secrecy; I'll never forget the leak recorded through a potato, thanks to some random store playing it.

NFR! was just a mess. No anticipation! I hope it's all a release surprise, with no snippets at all, except the single(s).

Does anyone feel sad and pathetic that you get so damn excited about an artist releasing music?  Starting to feel like I don’t have enough in my life or something is wrong with me.  I feel like my whole end of summer is centred around COCC. It’s sort of depressing.

Hey, cheer up! Try to look at it from this perspective; living in the midst of such an awful year and chaotic world, we're just holding onto something that brings us joy and excitement. Something to look forward to. It's not sad nor pathetic <3
