I haven't seen anyone say it on here but ik a lot of people think she shouldn't have changed the lyrics for her version of Jolene and their reasoning is that it makes her a "pick me" or what ever but she clearly already addressed that side of the situation with Lemonade so she didn't need to do it again. Duh.

I have been thinking a lot about if I like the lyrics change or not but I think it was a good move. I think Jolene is one of the saddest, most desparate songs ever written and no cover comes close to Dolly's version. By changing the lyrics, Beyonce really made it her own and suitable to her image as a self confident woman, so I think that approach is 100% justified. The song develops an own life by her rework.

all the vinyl variants and cds on beyonce's store are labelled as "Cowboy Carter Limited Edition Exclusive Cover" so i'm wondering if it's going to differ from the standard version (with the digital cover im guessing) that will be sent out to other stores at a later date?

According to my research and to discogs black retailer and store exclusive black are the same, and all CDs just as well. Although the store exclusive vinyl might be translucent black and the retailer version not, but that's just from a discogs comment.

All vinyls seem to have 22 tracks only and Ya Ya is not included 🙄

I don't think it's a "standard" version tbh - I think she added some songs/interludes last minute - I also think she changed the name of the album and the cover art from "Beyincé" to "Cowboy Carter" last minute as well - since the vinyls/CDs don't actually have Cowboy Carter printed anywhere on them (aside from the hype sticker)

But what standard version were you talking about then in the post by you I've quoted?

So apparently both CD and vinyl release of the album are missing songs from the digital ver tracklist? Hopefully the standard version with the horse cover will include everything 💀

Never seen this standard version so far anywhere. Have you?

It makes no sense to compare Lana and Beyoncé when they are completely different artists. Shut up and just enjoy the music. :keyboard:

I totally agree, they don't really compete as they are too different.

No way! I bought the black as I preferred the back cover! If I knew it was just standard I would’ve waited, paid £7.50 shipping and it’s not even here on the day haha

The one on amazon seems to be the black exclusive from the shop. Unless Amazon has the wrong Pic...

And all 4 CDs are available everywhere

  7. Love it, glad I got the vinyl. Especially as I got the blue and not black vinyl. Looks like these website exclusive vinyls have no exclusive cover indeed and the backside of the black exclusive version is just the standard version as available everywhere, just that one pays 15 euro more for it when purchasing from her site 😔 and obviously it's not possible to buy it as mp3.

Quality wise she hasn’t had good merch since LFL. The tour t shirt I bought at my show survived like 4 washes before looking ROUGH

Actually I experienced the opposite, I have been wearing her Chemtrails and BB and born to die anniversary tees and hoodies kind of daily. They have been washed so often you cannot imagine. And the tees are still soft and thick/heavy. Also the prints are still fine! Only the BB Eyes design now shows signs of wearing, but that's after 40 washes or so.

(Her mug prints didn't even survive a hand-wash though! But tees and hoodies...)

Really surprised that the blue shirt with the swan on it is almost sold out. The average person wouldn’t even be able to tell that it’s Lana merch.

That's how I love merch most. It is the kind of stuff you can wear at work and only other fans will recognize it. Didn't get this only because it's cropped, lol. Love the bow, but I might just buy a similar looking one for 5 EUR and write LDR on it with nail lacquer or so. Just want it for my LDR decoration, not wanting to pay 24 EUR for it incl shipping plus probably 9 EUR extra VAT. 33 EUR is surely too much.

I mean i understand that she liked it because I did too I bought the shirt on LDRVILLAGE before the site was taken down and I loved it so much

Loved it as well. Had ordered the towel with the rear view design but then they told me they won't get it so I got my money back...

I only see the Low Rider print being used for this merch drop

    IMG-9529.jpg

That was the one I meant. And she wore that hoodie pretty proudly. And if she made one of these, I guess the others could be hers, too.

Everything about this drop is killing me...like, why are there so many bows? That was never a thing before, even for OB merch where she was wearing a bow on the cover, but now its randomly on every single piece of merch? Plus there's like 3 other artists I can think of that also have bows as their aesthetic and merch.. it's like they're trying to capitalise on the trend but too aggressively

I think in the SKIMS campaign they had some bows too, didn't they?

Thanks, doesn't work for me though as it just leads to page one and I cannot find a post with that information there. I think I read most of this thread but must have missed that somehow. Was there a screen shot or anything?

Edit: never mind, clicked on the wrong link

yeah it's clearly meant to resemble old-fashioned paintings of white folks in imperial poses riding horses in, like, the reneissance.

but even those were more realistic.

The standard cover reminds me of 2 paintings, one is "la Liberté guidant le peuple" by Delacroix, which also inspired the sculpture for Miss Liberty, if I remember right. Somehow both artworks were related.  So standard and alternate cover really form a unit. Besides I recognize a Napoleon painting. And the vinyl colors are US/French national flag colors combined with Black. Lots of messages, lol.

Alternate cover giving Statue of Liberty!!

It's like mixing Miss Liberty with Botticelli's Venus. Love it. (I feel like she's copying me, lol. I am a photographer and have done a lot of these Black people as ancient paintings photo shoots. 😂

That might have been what they were talking about but good to know, thank you!

Also I had a similar thought recently. Maybe instead of referring to a specific era, it’s about her own life story as well as her family and their past?

These lines in kintsugi reminded me of that-

They sang folk songs from the '40s
Even the fourteen-year old knew, "Froggie Came A-Courtin'"
How do my blood relatives know all of these songs?
I don't know anyone left to know songs that I sing

Kinda goes along with her relation to her family and their past.

Deff no expert but just some of my thoughts :)

This might be true. I have some feeling that if it's retro it's more 1920-1940 - would be supported by your theory and the Candy Necklace video), while the photos look more 1950-1970 😅🙈

does anyone know if the lighters are refillable? I heard someone say they weren't, but I can't find anything saying otherwise

They actually come without filling, so if you couldn't (re-) fill them, they'd be totally useless.

Btw, took me quite a while 🙈😅, but yesterday I started to wonder about the cover photos of OB. So far, her album covers have always reflected the music and style of the album imo, but this retro style of the OB album covers don't really match the music!? Or is anyone (especially of the people with more knowledge about music than me) able to identify a clear retro style in the album sound? It sounds pretty modern and clear to me, cannot really hear the vintage vibes the album covers might make you expect from the album.

I was hoping she'd use more of the black cowboy hat visual, I wonder if she's going to do a deluxe cover..

I like the cover a lot, it reminds me of like the typically faded insides of a gas station

I'm really curious if the 4 special editions on her webstore will have different covers.

I love the idea behind this photo, big message, but the way it's done is not perfectly executed I think.

Mi Reflejo is her second album but it's... kinda not since she had a few tracks from her debut reworked into spanish versions and just covers, there's no particular clear direction for this album that differs it from the debut as well (it's still that same teen-pop flavour) so i dont know as her fans or herself, do people really count those albums.

I know what you mean, as I have been a fan since 2000, but I think I saw people looking out for Xtina10 in fan groups. Never been very active online on her, though.

any xtina fnas here? I just want to know how do you count her album as?

She has 9 albums but there's a christmas and a spanish album (which doesnt even have fully original content, mostly cover songs) so does it mean that she only has 7 albums/eras?

Do you mean Mi Reflejo? I think it's usually considered as her official 2nd album.

No idea about her Xmas album, but I think it's usually taken into account, although most artists don't.

    Christina Aguilera (1999)

    Mi Reflejo (2000)

My Kind of Christmas (2000) (?)

    Stripped (2002)

    Back to Basics (2006)

    Bionic (2010)

    Lotus (2012)

    Liberation (2018)

    Aguilera (2022)

she did same thing w Renaissance pre orders, sales tactic to get people to buy multiples

True, and I still hate that tactic 🙄 I chose the blue one as this was the back cover I like the most, but I'll be pretty angry if I find out this has the ugliest front cover 🙄🙈😅 at least we have a clue what genre the album will be and two singles, unlike Taylor who does kind of the opposite...

Beyonce going country was a must have for me. I skipped Renaissance, as it's not my genre. Already loved Lemonade as some songs had some country touch to them, or at least were screaming south states, lol.

It would be kind of iconic if she collaborated on the album with Dolly and Mason Ramsay, one of country music's oldest and youngest stars.

Manifesting a Dolly Parton collab so much !!!

Would love this. However, that she was to Dolly's house could also mean a collab for a Dolly record. Maybe she plans a Rockstar deluxe release 😅🙈
