I swear to god whenever I leave this damned site for 1hr something new happens and it's really stressful you guyyyysss -
i have another suggestion for improvement... How about we actually introduce her favorite color into the lyrics as she mentions it so obsessively? (Also, just noticed, there's a lot of summers and summer rains...) All the lights in Miami begin to gleam, ruby, blue and green, neon too Everything looks better from above, my king, like aquamarine, ocean's blue All the lights are sparkling for you, it seems, on the downtown scenes, shady blue Beatboxing and rapping in the summer rain like a boss he sang jazz and blues

Yeah, I hear "gleam" too now! - And I am 100% sure now it's happily as there is no "v"-sound when she sings it. She sings it weird tho haha It's so weird how that works haha

Thank you so so much!! Best quality so far! :worship: -
I hear "shady blue" instead of "baby/city blue". Also I'm pretty sure she says "soft ice creams", plural, in the chorus.

Oooh okay, I didn't realize this was a proverb as I'm not a native-speaker! I thought it was about poker chips as well... So there we have it then, thanks! And I think it's "where they may" too.

On a different note... There was this theory going when HM, TLY and MTWBT were out that each song has something to do with "observing" or has some kind of Hollywood/Musical inspiration behind it, like TLY with Bowie etc. Now that we know the other songs and their lyrics, can this theory be continued? Any ideas or thoughts? -
Makes more sense than that weird sleigh or day's haha Any ideas about those chips? I don't understand what that means? Like what chips??

I hear that two now! And I do think it makes sense @@MotelHoney I've added some of your lyrics to my version, but I'm still quite unsure about some parts. This is the reason why I'm longing for a lyrics booklet... Hmpf.

Alright, yeah you're right. Nevertheless, I think that's kind of lazy. :/ Also I feel like the snippets from the lyrics are too short. Like I would've loved to see them stylized as poetry, but not even that. -

Sure, but to me that's like... There's something missing then. Like why purchase the CD then when the booklet doesn't even have the full lyrics... Guess I'm just old school. -

Concerning the HM booklet... We are 100% sure that it won't have the full lyrics but only snippets of each song??? :( -
I found the interview! It's Kulturspiegel. Very interesting, I'll PM in a minute!

Bless your beautiful soul. x -
Yeah I see, I would've described her as a spiritual person herself, but not just in the "catholic God" kind of way. Thank you so much! Could you please post the link to the Spiegel interview again? This one doesn't work for me. It doesn't need to be a translation either, I speak German I would love to hear / read more about this! Please feel free to show me these interviews To me, these kind of opulent, yet naive Catholic phrases and imagery she uses in her songs always appealed strongly to me, I love Lana especially for that! And I am an Atheist

I have somehow come to terms with the "Soft Ice Cream" thing. Like it is SO American. I also love how naive and playful it sounds... And I think it is very random and unique how she connects this Italian lover boy / gangster with this food imagery, like she sings of Cacciatore and ice cream in the Chorus and then she's being theatrical again with "dying by the hand of a foreign man" and then again "Salvatore can wait, now it's time to eat soft ice cream" Hahah I love it! To me, this is the cleverest song on the album, lyric- and music-wise.

For me, the "God knows I tried" means that she tried to be good. Like, "good" in the way how it is defined by society. But not so sure on that. I think "happy" makes sense, too! But on another note... Is Lana religious? Like REALLY religious? Because that song obviously sounds like this. I know she's had lyrics like "Jesus is my bestest friend" or "All that's real to me is Marilyn and Jesus" or "Mary prays the Rosary", but to me that always seemed like this opulent naive Lolita imagery. She also said that she studied Philosphy because it "bridged the gap between God and science... I was interested in God and how technology could bring us closer to finding out where we came from and why." However, to me that sounds not like a believer, more like someone who would want to study all these different existential ideas to try to understand, and that obviously involves the theories of religion, astrophyics and philosphy. So, she never seemed like a truly believing person to me, more like someone who is fascinated by the glamour and abyss that is Christianity and the Catholic church. But, I guess I was just wrong?
