hotshot2am Posted March 29, 2022 Posted March 29, 2022 That's what is says in the GEMA database. Does not seem like Peter Ibsen is the sole rightsholder, at least here. 13 Quote

SlowGinFizzzz Posted March 29, 2022 Posted March 29, 2022 I mean, he's a professional producer and songwriter and – according to his Instagram – a music manager himself, so I doubt he'd be dumb enough to upload stuff he doesn't own. One explanation could be that Lana/Interscope for whichever reason no longer hold the rights to those two songs; it's been over ten years and they never got officially released, after all. 19 Quote
Dark Angel Posted March 29, 2022 Posted March 29, 2022 wow all of these complications & details about these songs & their copyright/legality & we can just listen to the songs through our itunes for free whenever we want 13 Quote

takeitdoen Posted March 29, 2022 Posted March 29, 2022 We only request that you don't post files that are about to be released and commercially available officially by Lana del Rey. There's no indication that she intends to release these and there is no upcoming release announced. I am sceptical they will remain on streaming but as the files have been circling the internet for like a decade now, I have no issue with people posting higher-quality versions. This is the same treatment we gave to Living Legend, Cherry Blossom and other files when they were included on Blue Banisters. It's not like you posting the higher quality version of these songs are going to magically erase the 32 million listens the song already has on YouTube. Also @the ocean (and anyone else who has concerns about their account when tracks leak) it would have been better for you to private message someone on the mod team to explain your situation instead of publicly guessing if you were going to be banned. 12 Quote
Dark Angel Posted March 29, 2022 Posted March 29, 2022 why does the paradise cover have serial killer lyrics? @bigspender maybe you weren’t so far off after all 7 Quote

Especially cause Lana is more than just a "writer" of the songs, she is THE performer. But if what PPL says is true (that Ibsen is the sole rightsholder to the two songs) then these might end up being ... legit ? Vocalists don't always have to be credited, though. I'm not sure what the exact rules are, but there are a lot of (usually rather unknown) artists that provided vocals for big hits without being credited as featured artists. Noonie Bao would be a great example, she co-wrote and performed I Could Be The One, yet it was released as an Avicii & Nicky Romero song, with her name nowhere to be found. The exact same thing happened with How Deep Is Your Love, that one only mentions Calvin Harris and Disciples, whereas the actual vocalist – Ina Wroldsen – was not credited as a featured artist. 8 Quote
