Agree! As much as I wanted her to win just for the sake of it, I much prefer her NOT being internalised by the industry… they’ve committed so many sins against her, they cannot sanitise their reputation by awarding her AOTY once. She can continue to live on the outskirts, challenging the industry instead of doing her best to remain in its graces (like so many other artists do). They’ll never get her

It’s a bit disappointing to read things like Taylor bringing Lana up on stage and acknowledging her out of pity because I really don’t think that’s true. I get we’re upset that Lana didn’t win AOTY but I don’t believe that warrants putting the two of them up against each other or seeing them as higher vs lesser. We already covered this theme earlier in the night too — this constant need for fans to put two independent artists at contentious odds, creating drama out of nothing, etc. To me it’s clear Taylor wanted to share the spotlight with someone she felt deserved it. She didn’t need to drag Lana up there and some might argue shouldn’t have bc she wasn’t feeling it skdndjf but that’s another topic I just think it’s more than fair to give her the benefit of the doubt when she’s shown never ending support for Lana over the years
