Anyway, let me stay on topic... I think trpws will be something completely different from what we've heard so far. And it doesn't bother me at all that we know almost nothing about this album. I'm looking forward to the surprise. It's Lana fuckin Del Rey - it's going to be great as always

 

I understand your feelings about the album, and in my more positive, objective moments, agree. We know almost nothing about TRPWS--look how different OB was from BB in terms of tone and mood--they are at least to me. Or how different Norman was from LFL. 

 

TRPWS might be fantastic, and while it seems it will be a mellow, slow, 'serious' album of countrified piano and acoustic guitar songs that are't too lyrically deep, as Hope and WFWF were, we also know LDR isn't always very accurate when describing her forthcoming music. Clearly, she and her team don't want to give much away. 

 

My hopes are not high, but that's just me.

If LDR released an album of Old School upbeat songs like Making Out and Meet Me in the Pale Moonlight I'd be thrilled. I know TRPWS, however, will not be that.

I mean- yes!  How different albums are BTD from NFR or OB...her music is evolving and it makes sense. My expectations are always lower with these things, so I'm pleasantly surprised.

I'm wondering if the label is a part of why Lana's album is still unfinished. No insiders know exactly what songs will end up on the record and all they've heard have been very slow and acoustic. The label might not have liked such a mellow sound and so they gave her a time window to add (or replace) some songs. This happened already and more than once in Lana's case: High By The Beach was written under pressure from the label to make at least one "commercial" song, the whole NFR! was delayed until Lana recorded some "hit" songs (Doin Time, FIILY).

Lana is much more successful now than she was in 2015-2019 and I'm sure the label's expectations have changed on her. Whereas in 2021 they "accepted" her declining popularity and let her release anything, now they want to make an album strategy and capitalize on it a lot.

She finished Ocean Blvd in September of 2022, right? Think of all the gems she’s recorded since then 😍😍😍 She must have experimented with a wide variety of sounds and styles in the last 2 years therefore she probably has some bops in the vault  all I’m asking for is one - just one - to be included on TRPWS, Lana
