2025 Los Angeles Wildfires

Recommended Posts

Been in touch with family over there and lucky they’re all fine, I happened to be in LA during the 2019 wildfires and it was very surreal to see the sky change colour and watch flames just engulfing homes as coming from the UK it’s just unimaginable. From what I’ve seen these fires seem so much worse

The amount of misinformation/fear-mongering about this is driving me insane. But what do you expect on the internet. :smokes3:

Don’t get me wrong, this is horrible for everyone, but at least it seems to have affected mostly affluent areas? The implication being that I would imagine that most of those affected have other homes and/or can afford to rebuild

Again - I’m not trying to downplay anyone’s suffering or any shit - this is awful whether you are a normie or Paris Hilton. But in less affluent areas, I feel like more people wouldn’t have the means to rebuild (and may even stay to try to save their homes, resulting in a greater loss of life)

I’m sure there ARE people affected who don’t have other homes or the means to rebuild, and hopefully those more fortunate pull together to help.

ur legit gonna look the same stop buying oil of Olay face cream

this maybe has already been mentioned but i thought i would share with LB just in case someone finds it helpful <3

donating to a mutual aid fund is a great way to directly help affected communities, especially with an immediate crisis, or to GET help if you're in the LA area — mutual aid LA network (https://www.instagram.com/p/DEjhEgiRE9y/?igsh=bzMwcm1ldnVzMW45) connects people with a bunch of smaller organizations.

you can donate directly to them to help keep their work going or go through this spreadsheet (http://tiny.cc/malan-fire) and find a shelter, community center, animal shelter, etc. open to donations (i.e., venmo, etc. but also if you're in the area, physical items)

Yeah, the destruction is going to be in the billions of dollars. Rich area or not, many people’s lives will be forever changed. Some drastically for quite some time. Some insurance companies recently dropped coverage for this type of disaster too. It’s heartbreaking.

The areas are mostly affluent but what scares me more is the economic effect this will likely have on the city, as well as the next one (which will probably be bigger/worse as the climate worsens). Coupled with the earthquake risk, I’d be very anxious if I was still living in LA. Palisades Fire is the closest I’ve seen a major  fire get to the San Fernando Valley in my life, and that area is notably less affluent/more middle class compared to Malibu, etc

The people's stories I've read today about the wildfire and what it has caused shatters my heart :ohno: It's truly awful, it reminds me of the Australian wildfires from 2020, thinking how many losses it caused. Global warming is a serious thing. So many people, also many children, are affected from this, the nature and animals also have suffered from this a lot. My thoughts are with them. I truly hope that Lipsters from Los Angeles are safe and sound.

I read this article, it shows the different organizations where you can help and donate:

It also drives up the cost of insurance and leads many companies to reduce or cut coverage entirely. The climate change aspect is scary. Extreme events seem to be the new norm. Hopefully there isn’t complacency. I think these fires hitting such a large area with significant population will help lead to awareness.

Florida was in a false sense of safety after the 2010s saw less hurricane landfalls, but coastal storms have gotten really bad in recent years too.

New fire by west hills/hidden hills called the Kenneth fire. It started about three hours ago. Already about 800 acres and moving fast

pack up a go bag just in case is always a good idea. not to fear monger, but even if it's far away, you never know if it will spread or spark new fires. always better safe than sorry

girl tell them to LEAVE :takeitdoen: I hope you and your family stay safe and nothing happens though. sending prayers <3
