xNoirx 657 Posted July 4, 2013 idkkkkkkkkk obviously it's very different to the previous seasons as it should be. It was still rlly good i'm terribly glad they didn't completely drop the old effy and make her suddenly this high class business woman. something that rlly annoyed me though was (idk if you guys also noticed this) but her bracelet kept changing arms lmao like i'm 99% sure she always had a bracelet on b/c she'd have a massive scar from her suicide attempt in season 4 but at one point in the same scene the bracelet changed arms lmao it irked me but ya it's been good so far and i'm excited for part 2~~ 0 Quote ~ataraxia~

Sucker 7,912 Posted July 9, 2013 Oh my god, Effie's episodes were flawless. I got the chills when I saw her in the beginning of ep01.
Rafael 3,513 Posted July 10, 2013 I'm kinda bummed out about how it all ended. I thought I would get some answers after they left me confused by the finale of season 4, but now I'm even more lost Anyway, I'm looking forward seeing Cassie... ...AND SID AS WELL!? PLEASE PRETTY PLEASE. DON'T TORTURE US, E4.
ExoticFlower 892 Posted July 15, 2013 I hated fire part 1 and 2. They didn't even let the characters develop! Effy is still being fucked over because she falls too hard for a guy, and Em and Naomes were still in a destructive relationship with lies and secrets. I mean, why not toss them a bone and let them live happily and learn from their previous mistakes? I hated the secretive smile from the back of the car, and the big fucking cliffy with Em and Naomy. UGH. And please tell me where I can get Effy's necklaces, they were flawless. And when she walked in with that dress from Hervé Léger, I just about drooled. Her body... Her tits, her hips, argh! I wish my body could do that, why can't my body do that? I miss Cook, hope he has dragged himself out of his old ass misery.
Rafael 3,513 Posted July 16, 2013 OOOoooOooh. I really really like "Skins: PURE"! Hannah portraying Cassie is so effortless and breathtaking. Ugh, I just can't shake the feeling I get when I see her. She's such a relatable character for me. Being surrounded by all these people yet feeling so isolated at the same time, listening to music and feeling alive, you know? (It kinda reminds me of Scarlett Johansson in "Lost In Translation"). It all just suddenly reminded me of my favorite scene from Skins ever
Amadeus 11,334 Posted July 19, 2013 omg I totally missed Fire, and watched it now It was good but the end was just ??? why why is she going to prison, I mean we know the reason, but was it THAT necessary that Effy had to cheat? She looked flawless in those dresses though her body but I looked forward to see a more happy Effy and all I got is Effy going to jail, yaayy

Philomene 928 Posted August 8, 2013 OMG yesss! Mine too!!! Infinitely better than Effy & Freddie, they were so bland / annoying together ugh. I love you then Cook&Effy had a proper developpement, they had sex together a whole year basically and, feelings appeared after that. They spent time together and had fun, When everyone turned away from Effy after the Katie incident, he was the only one here for her. While Freddie always judged her and tried to change her into someone she's not; Cook accepted her the way she is. Maybe because they're so alike. They represented what Skins is about and are both 2 iconic characters. They had so many amazing moments together, the Bonnie&Clyde journey is one of them. Kaya and Jack had so much chemistry together, they dated IRL and Kaya said that if she wasn't so young at that time she would have married him. The scene under the pouring rain where Cook tells her he'd do everything again must have been so awkward to film. It breaks my heart tbh to think about CE, I shipped them so hard but the writers screwed up everything. Freffy, it felt from the very beginning that it was shoved down the throat with their ~love at first sight. S4 made it all worse with Effy's mental illness. When they isolated during Freddie's episode it felt like he was trying to keep her all for himself and they were very toxic together. Everybody kept repeating how much Cook was bad for Effy, but it was more the opposite. Lana's songs fit perfectly CE : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ifRq8GoL1SI

I'm convinced that the reason they were paired as the main ~romantic couple is simply that they were the most conventionally attractive of the bunch. Also the reason why they have so many shippers imo. Because lbr, they had no substance whatsoever. I liked Freddie & his own story, I thought he was a very relatable character; he ended up as my least fave character of that gen though, and only because of his relationship with Effy. It was incredibly contrived and made no sense; like, completely out of the blue these 2 people are suddendly madly in love with eachother?! Like you said, their relationship was never developed; they were just paired together & all of a sudden we were supposed to buy their mad, neverending love. I'll never forgive the writers for fucking up Effy/Cook the way they did. They had such great dynamic as a couple and, for instance, it would have been really interesting to see Effy deal with her mental health issues with someone like Cook by her side, imo. Idk, I just think their relationship had a lot of dramatic potential but that was completely disregarded for the sake of, what, a prettier pairing? NEVAH FORGET Especially a girl like Effy ... how could she fall in love like that ? People that ship Freffy do it because Freddie is presented as the nice handsome guy, that is perfect whereas Cook is the toxic manwhore. Fact is that Freddie tried to run away from her (just before he died) and wanted her just because she was the prettiest girl in town. And his death ... Gosh, some crazy fans wanted her to commit suicide so they could be together in heaven. One of the worst scenes ever was the sex scene in the woods, she was fucked on shrooms. They should have cut the scene with shots of Katie lying on the floor tbh. Cook is not "pretty" like Freddie or Tony, but he's smoking hot. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J3cbbBpsnZI CE wasn't about the destination, but we got an amazing journey. My favourite episodes evaah of Skins are 1x08 and 3x10 and Tony's in season 2. Don't you think the show was full of incest subtext ?
elllipsis 1,441 Posted August 8, 2013 @@Philomene Totally agree. I'd personally pick Cook over Freddie (or Tony, tbh) any day of the week. I like my boys bad, I guess. My favourite episodes evaah of Skins are 1x08 and 3x10 and Tony's in season 2. Don't you think the show was full of incest subtext ? Hmm, I don't know... I mean, there were those obvious references to it in 1x08 and it's true that Tony and Effy had a very close & kinda unique relationship, but it never felt creepy or weird to me tbh. But it's been a while since I last watched it, maybe I'm missing obvious allegories or something... Btw, are you referring to Tony & Effy only, or any other characters as well? My fave episodes are 3x10, 4x02 & also anything involving Cassie. And his death ... Gosh, some crazy fans wanted her to commit suicide so they could be together in heaven. Philomene 928 Posted August 8, 2013 @@elllipsis Yes I'm talking about Tony and Effy. There are so many subtext ... Like in Tony's episode in season 2, the girl is called Beth (->Elizabeth->Effy) and she wears the same underwear as Effy. This unseen is pretty clear imo : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KDEQSt0FPwQ They looked each other in a way siblings don't ... In the very first scene I though that Effy was his girlfriend ! (and I know a lot of people did) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QDE2zd-QiaQ I always felt there was something going on between them but I just couldn't put the finger on it. I wish Skins would have been brave enough to face it. Tony's episode was basically a huge dream and the solution to his erectile problem was not viagra. @@Philomene Totally agree. I wish Skins would have been brave enough to face it. Tony's episode was basically a huge dream and the solution to his erectile problem was not viagra. I see it tbh. And Skins writers would. The fanmade videos are more manipulative than anything, as they include completely unrelated and/or decontextualized stuff just because it fits the narrative, but the Beth/Effy thing is too obvious to not be intentional. I mean, she was literally the girl of his dreams, the one he picked to guide him out of his troubles and doubts and erectile disfunction, and she had the same name as his sister, looked and dressed similarly & even acted a fair bit like her. What was always obvious to me is that she was the only person in the world he considered his equal and truly respected, and the same happened with Effy re: Tony. So it's not hard to imagine (especially given the whole dream sequence episode) that, had she not been his sister, he would've easily fallen in love with her / wanted to be with her. I don't think it ever went beyond this though, it was never more than platonic imo. I kinda disagree with what you said about Skins not having been brave enough to face it though; I think they did (through his dream + her mental health issues). Maybe not in a super obvious, 'foolproof' way, but it could've easily become crass and distasteful had they done it any other way imo. I also think there wasn't much else to face or do with that theme; it was something that existed and would probably never completely disappear for as long as they lived, but each of them dealt with it in a more or less conscious way (dream + therapy) & tried to move on.
