reclusive? Do you know the meaning of the words you use? She is not a reclusive at all lol. Not being under the spotlight ≠ being a reclusive literally her first song “my friends and I we’ve cracked the code we count our dollars on the train to the PARTY” “The drink you spilt all over me” at a party… ribs as a whole we know was written after she threw a party This entire article about melodrama: https://pitchfork.com/news/72821-lordes-new-album-tells-the-story-of-one-house-party/ I think you’re putting lorde in a box just because she doesn’t engage with her fame the way most singers do but she’s very from a reclusive, she clearly loves being with other people, having fun, etc and that includes partying

I do not know what you mean cause Lorde’s best work is clearly Melodrama which is neither indie nor artsy and it’s all about partying. Even pure heroine is mostly about hanging out with friends and partying. I don’t think solar power is where Lorde’s songwriting abilities shine the most

it’s not just one line in mood ring lol the whole 70s cult aesthetic, the “psychedelic” sound which she was aiming for, “leader of the new regime”, etc etc there was a larger, greatly unexplored theme of cults/wellness practices/etc… even down to the concept of a “solar power”. if you can’t see that and think that all solar power was was lorde writing poetry idk what to tell you

solar power was supposed to be a criticism/commentary on wellness culture and eastern practices being appropriated by the west for commodification purposes. It obviously also is about her life but I wouldn’t say she just writes poetry in flowers shops but also lorde has done so many things it’s clear she can’t be put in a box. For me the common thread in all of Lorde’s albums is that she’s always so deeply concerned with aging/getting old and she’s able to permeate with nostalgia every thing she does. To say she writes poetry in flowers shops is so reductive and frankly just wrong

ribs (aka her best song) is about the impending doom she felt about her adolescence ending while cleaning up the mess at the house part that SHE threw + melodrama in it’s entirety is about partying while going through a break up up dont know where this poetry and flower shop is coming from, she’s not a loser like Taylor swift

lorde backing down of the artistic growth she had reached during SP and going back to melodrama ALREADY is a red flag to me... i really hope shes not just chasing a trend
