Henry is leaving, and while she’s not sitting on an sofa feeling suicidal she certainly isn’t happy ”I’ll still be nice to your mom, it’s not her fault you’re leaving” is so bitter/angry and then “you can’t chase a ghost when it’s gone” is very depressing In my humble opinion, it definitely is uplifting in the sense that the song portrays that very specific feeling when you've made peace with a situation. She's out on the town, sun kissing her skin and wind blowing her hair. She runs into his Mom and gives her a genuine smile and wave. But continues on her way. She's healed. THATS UPLIFTING. Cause although it may be hard for a long time, eventually the sun will rise. 7 Quote "And when you see my face on every billboard and TV screen, you'll regret the day you walked away"

It's the most importantly remind yourself that just because everybody else changes doesn't mean that you have to - at least not for the worse and not for attention. Change for the better. Try and get your message out, try and find what you love to do. If this is what's important to you then it'll be part of the path that leads you to something even more fun and meaningful down the line.” - LDR

I couldn't understand a word she's saying on the Henry chorus when I first heard the song, which never happened to me on NFR (the entire album). Also, whoever sound-engineered Henry wishes he could record Lana's vocals with the same clarity we got on NFR (the song). You know, without that fucking reverb switch-on noise (check 0.17 time stamp on Henry). What's with the Laura Sisk hate? Listen to fishtails and tell me it sounds good. It’s literally underwater 8 Quote

Thats why they call me Dita Posted Thursday at 08:03 PM Posted Thursday at 08:03 PM Ok I listened on TikTok and omg I can’t wait to give this my undivided attention tomorrow, yes to big production yet still maintaining the stripped back sound somehow 9 Quote like a dream, you glide on the water and like a star, I shine from the shore
The Missing Shade of Blue Posted Thursday at 08:04 PM Posted Thursday at 08:04 PM Spoiler No because you know what really gets to me? The first time you listen to this song and you hear "I heard God say you were born to be the one" right before a slight pause. And the pause is absolutely everything. Because it tricks you for a moment into thinking this is a romantic revelation, like "I was born to be the one for him", the ultimate soulmate narrative, right? And then boom, that next line shatters the illusion: “to hold the hand of the man who flies too close to the sun” Suddenly it’s not about being chosen for love, it’s about being chosen for sorrow. She isn’t the prize, she’s the witness. The supporter. The collateral beauty to someone else’s destruction. And the fact that this is coming from God, not her heart, nor from him, makes it inescapable. It's like she's been cosmically assigned this role of loving the doomed. She's not just unlucky in love, she was born to be it. That’s what makes it so devastating. Perhaps, it’s not even about the romance, it’s about the resignation. The mythology of being the woman who stays, even when she knows he'll leave and it’ll break her. And I guess that's why the right person will stay... 12 Quote
Normann Posted Thursday at 08:05 PM Posted Thursday at 08:05 PM OKAY, I feel like I NEED to talk about this song, So stay with my general review of the song, and obviously with spoilers. Spoiler I was already very uncertain and had no expectations for this sound, when I heard it I just wanted to sit down and cry, it's so... peaceful? It's like you accept things the way they are and letting go with a slight smile, feeling that tomorrow will be better... or just "Theres always another day, another tomorrow" (this is how I feel about this song). I loved how the lyrics referred to other unreleaseds, and it seems like the sound connects with some and has some kind of interpolation with other songs, and the ICARUS myth refference was on point, I really love it. The production is... PHENOMENAL, I might be exaggerating, but it surprised me that it's not just some guitar chords or piano ballads, but it's LUKE and DREW. They did Buddy Rendezvous and watercolor eyes, and half of OB, I don't know why I'm surprised, and we can shoot down the snoozefest allegations Overall, I feel like this album promises a lot, given that they said Henry is like the change of this album, so there must be more to it than that, and Henry delivered better material than I imagined, so I think trpws will be even better 9.5/10 . (There are some things in the vocal mixing that bothered me a little but I think it's just a matter of time before I get used to it) 7 Quote

It’s literally underwater the song is called FISHtail. On an album titled Tunnel under OCEAN boulevard. The lyrics are about skinny dipping in someone's mind. The mixing is done deliberately to sound like it's underwater. Duh. It's a trap song. They were fucking around with effects. It is in no way a reflection of Sisk's abilities. 6 Quote

Rorman Nockwell Posted Thursday at 08:21 PM Posted Thursday at 08:21 PM Spoiler It’s what I expected it to be If it wasn’t by Lana and came up in my Spotify discovery, it’d get skipped in five seconds flat Maybe I’m in the wrong mood to listen to it but it never really gets going She can obviously make whatever type of music she likes at this point in her career, but this doesn’t hold a candle to anything pre-2020 I feel like she needs to write 5 more poetry books and/or a lengthy novel + maybe host a podcast to get all of this shit off her chest, and them go back to making music that isn’t just her rambling on for 5 minutes about God and some guy over the top of an instrumental that sounds like it’s from a how-to-draw tutorial on YouTube 13 Quote ur legit gonna look the same stop buying oil of Olay face cream
