SarcasticBeauty Posted March 9 Posted March 9 4 hours ago, triangles19 said: I never enjoyed Lady Gaga's music (except Artpop - which is a little better than the rest of her discography for me), and I think Mayhem is as unlistenable as Born this Way, so I guess her fans are loving it. I really liked the Antidote version of Disease and the main version is OK, but all the other tracks are so loud and noisy, it hurts. From my -european- perspective, her music (the popstar version of Lady Gaga I mean) is so very unbearably american : gross, indelicate, loud and oppressive. But I'm really happy fans are liking it, 2025 definitely needs fierce and unapologetic queers and if this album fuels them, then let it be ! .......the casual xenophobia... is.... Anyway!!! I can't wait to hear an acoustic of How Bad Do U Want Me. It's gonna eatttt. 6 Quote
Mer Posted March 9 Posted March 9 Album is fantastic and gets better with every listen. To me, it’s even more cohesive and well planned out than BTW. I’m really glad she kept this to a 13-14 track album and didn’t let it bloat. Still no reason to have DWAS on it but whatever get those streams girl. IIRC, she hates deluxe versions (which is why BTW’s “deluxe” was marketed as a “Special Edition”), so I’m interested to see how/if she creates an expanded version of this album. 2 Quote ⊹ (:̲̅:̲̅:̲̅[̲̅:♡:]̲̅:̲̅:̲̅:̲̅) ⊹ ? Cherry Blossom Posted March 9 Posted March 9 I think the album is great. It’s way stronger than Chromatica. However, The Fame -> ARTPOP are honestly just such untouchable classics I don’t think she will ever come close to topping them again (for me). So I have to listen to all music post ARTPOP knowing it won’t come close to that because she doesn’t work like that anymore. Which is fine, she’s grown and her goals have changed etc. Zombieboy, Killah, Garden of Eden are incredible. Shadow of a Man is a vibe and How Bad Do U Want Me has me hooked cuz of the Taylor vibes. I’m obsessed with the performances / photoshoots / promo this era too. Feels such classic Gaga. Really happy to see her back in good form and really dedicated to what she’s putting out. My current ranking of albums is probably this: 1. Born This Way 2. The Fame Monster 3. ARTPOP 4. The Fame 5. Joanne 6. Mayhem 7. Chromatica Mayhem will probably climb to #5 when I’m more familiar with the deep cuts. I’m stuck on Zombieboy / Garden of Eden / Killah atm 0 Quote
DeadSeaOfMercury Posted March 10 Posted March 10 Spoiler So it’s kinda funny. I think calling celebrities Mother is weird, But this picture looks just like an old photo of mine “Mama Mercury” And she happens to be blind in one eye. So when I see this photo, The word Mother comes to mind - It’s an odd phenomenon… 0 Quote

Veinsineon Posted March 10 Posted March 10 Kill For Love would’ve been a perfect lead with Can’t Stop The High following it would’ve layed out expectations for the album so much better. 0 Quote
Make me your Dream Life Posted March 10 Posted March 10 so her first album was The Fame. go to ARTPOP, and now w this album, I can't help but feel this album's in a way a kind of celebration of famous pop music. Vanish Into You gives me ABBA Killah gives Bowie Don't Call Tonight reheats her Alejandro nachos, but has that The Weeknd-esque bridge Shadow Of A Man reminds me a little bit of Michael Jackson Garden of Eden reminds me a bit of some kind of Britney Pop Zombieboy's speak lyrics remind of Gwen Stefani's Hollaback Girl, but then she turns it Funk Blade of Grass gives me Viva La Vida but more Elton John How Bad Do You Want Me, gives Taylor Pop She ushered pop into a different kind of space, so it's kinda cool that she's playing and making music and forming it into her own kind of POP, it's very fun. 1 Quote

ultrablvd Posted March 10 Posted March 10 on digestion three songs really sounded like other songs to me: - - the beast sounds very much like who am i living for by katy perry - perfect celebrity is very avril lavinge - how bad do u want me is obviously taylor swift i fvcking love this album 0 Quote resident sweeter 24/7/17 - 9/7/23 - 10/7/23
Addison Rae Posted March 10 Posted March 10 i had to sit with the album to really digest it. i wasn’t expecting the album to have such a…mature, retro soundscape but im kinda not mad at it! you can tell every song has her signature musical references all over it which i felt she abandoned for a while. it feels authentically gaga in a positive way and feels like a summary of who she is right now, even if it isn’t exactly to my taste musically. definitely her best album since artpop imo! 1 Quote
