This is disappointing as fuck to read, especially from you. Rape can bring on a paralyzing fear. You can keep saying no while your body is unresponsive towards your attempts to move. Even if her body was responsive, there's still a fear of what could happen if she did fight. When you're raped, you can go into a completely different mental state as a coping mechanism. You can be fully aware of what's going in and decided to just sit through it in hopes that it'll be over soon or in hopes that it doesn't get worse. There's no one size fits all response or action that needs to be taken to a rape to real or valid.

A random person with no real connections to either of them outside of claiming to know a friend puts up a comment to try to call a rape victim a liar... K.

Also, wishing rape on someone isn't okay, ever. I know people can feel a lot of anger in situations like this, but we can't support victims while wishing something that horrible on others. Wish for them to lose their hair or their Hot Pockets are always too cold... but don't take our pain and wish it unto others. It trivializes it. It makes a joke out of it. It contributes to the thought that our lived experiences are a joke, a comeback, something that can quickly be used to attack others.

Even if they go to court and Melanie isn't charged, it doesn't mean she's innocent. I was raped, took it to court, and nothing happened to my rapist because he is wealthy and I didn't have " enough proof"

How do we not manage to blame Christianity for the majority of terrorist attacks in the US? There's been double the terrorist attacks from right-winged Christian extremist and up until last night, more deaths from Christians. Why do we not hold their religion accountable? Because religious and racial bigotry has programmed us to blame people people who don't look or think like us. Americans view the actions of white male Christian extremist as isolated instances over and over and over again, but expect the entire religion of Islam to be held accountable for the actions of a few. @@comeintomybedroom
