    also random question but has Lana ever performed Wait for Life live? i listened to it again today and fell in love all over again!! (i know it's technically Emile's song but he's not doing anything with it soooo)

    I am almost positive she hasn't. But I was driving to it today and thinking about how underrated it is and how no one brings it up on here

    I live in Miami where a big percent of the population is black. I'm always joking with my african-american friends and calling them "monkeys"

     

    I can say that Playboi Carti looks like a monkey just like I can say that G-Eazy is a cocaine addict or that Lana's voice causes depression.

    two of those things are attributes about the individual one is an insult based on race. Calling black people monkeys is more than just likening their physical features to that of a monkeys (which is still bad), it's equating them to an animal, which is historically a way of making them subhuman to reinforce the idea that they are somehow inferior. Just because you do it and a particular group of people don't call you out that doesn't make it right. They do not decide whether everyone else is offended by it. Look into yourself and decide you're honestly okay with the ideas that slur propagates

    also i just had a thought, what if Yosemite was a non-mentioned lyrical title like Terrance Loves You or Cruel World, and she only named it that after having gone to the park and felt the same way the song gave vibes to; and then changed it to lyrics from the song but to her its still Yosemite.. like if Cruel World became Young Wild Free or somethin like that :hdu:

    that would be the worst case scenario cause then we would never know that was yosemite and everyone would be freaking out and thirsting for it to leak when we already had it

    Racists don't make jokes to be cool, it's a way of showing their black soul

    im talking about the people who kept making jokes after the initial racist comment. They aren't necessarily "racist" but they're making light of a real issue and it needs to stop. People here make light of issues that effect real people every day, like racism, sexism, homophobia, xenophobia, I could go on and it's not cute it's also not at all what lana is about

    okay, so i know no one on here notices me or like im not a major player or anything but just wanted to say Im happy to be spending the album cycle with you guys, even if you're messy and sometimes jump to dumb conclusions, it's nice to finally find people who care about lana like I do cause for awhile people were just like annoyed at me for being obsessed and now i have an outlet

     

     

    bye why am i the only one excited for positive lana. she would become a parody of herself if she just released sad/depressing songs for the rest of her career. especially if she isn't even sad.

    You aren't! I am. It's amazing that she's happy when she once was possibly suicidal we have to think about what the ramifications of wanting her to be sad actually are

    There could be many reasons for that.

     

    My main reason, other than not liking Playboi Carti's music, for disliking these collabs is that I don't want her to be like Miley Cyrus. I don't want her to use hip-hop/r&b (and ""urban"" culture) on this record only to go ahead and hypocritically shit on it once it's no longer profitable for her to use it (or once she wants to go back to the sound and image her fanbase expects from her).

    I agree with your sentiment, but I also think there is a difference between featuring an artist in your music and culturally appropriating. Miley (and other artists not calling her out specifically) borrowed from other cultures and used it themselves. To me, a feature is saying I enjoy the art you make and I want it to make art with you, but you can bring your background in I don't think I would be able to adequately represent that. cultural appropriation is stealing what others have built rather than giving them a platform for sharing it. Lana has culturally appropriated in the past (the ride video, some say tropico too) but I don't think this would be the same thing. It is a tough line to follow though because the worst thing you want to do is offend anyone or have her actions be harmful even if that's not intended

    TBH, and I hate saying this, but I doubt FJM would agree to a collab on this particular album. He just put out one of the strongest political/social critique records of the year, and I think Lana's just learning how to write music about politics. They both do it so differently. He calls people out she writes very vague lyrics in comparison. I could see them together on like any of the I love you honeybear tracks though, or even on honeymoon.

    which unless the us is super different from stores over here won't happen until one or two days (max) before the release.

    yeah, I mean it all depends. I ordered pure comedy and that came to my house 3 days early cause the shipping was so fast. It probably wont leak until a few days before but you never know. Maybe she will have another listening party

    Since the Summer Bummer single release ended up being fake, does anyone know if the track list that was on here about a week ago is real or also fake?

    summer bummer isn't fake, just the release date, so we aren't really sure about the tracklist. There are reasons it might be legit (it was the first to announce summer bummer as a title which was then confirmed, it was on reputable websites, etc.) and reasons it might not be (it's 16 tracks and some think the album will be 18, doesn't include yosemite, which is definitely on the record, and some titles were different from how they have been presented in magazines like V, like GBA and When the world was at war we just kept dancing). My guess is that it's not completely correct but that's just me
