Ultraviolence is a masterpiece, but tbh this album already topped it once Venice Bitch dropped.

I love this era tbh. It suits the themes of the music, especially the stunning mic drop that is The Greatest.

Omg just watched the video twice and finally heard Fuck It I Love You for the first time. Now it's going to be stuck in my head as I lie in bed trying to fall asleep.

I still can't believe there are people who think Hope is a bad song. It's devastating and gorgeous, and it's going to be a brilliant end to the album based on what we've heard so far. The Greatest really sealed the deal on that for me.

Exactly. Judging an album based on the era makes no sense, they are too separate things. You can feel annoyed with the artist all you want but that has nothing to do with the music. I can imagine how frustrating it is for someone like Lana who wants to do things her own way but society has changed to the point where people expect way too much on social media. She really does belong in a different era, artists didn't have to deal with these ridiculous expectations before and they really shouldn't have to. She's releasing a ton of stuff and it's all amazing. She told us in March she didn't know when the album was coming. That alone should have been enough, but alas here we are months later finally getting the album, and people are still bitching about the "era" ruining the work. Ridiculous. I haven't listened to the leak but from everything I've heard so far it's shaping up to be her best work yet. I also find the lyrics to The Greatest help explain a lot of her behaviour, and the reactions to the era only reinforce all the criticisms she has about today's culture. If it leaks in HQ I'll listen because I already bought it, and if it doesn't then it's coming super soon. I'll just keep listening to The Greatest on repeat until then.

Wow I really can't stop listening to The Greatest, it hurts my heart. I didn't think she would top Venice Bitch but The Greatest is spectacular in a different way. It's so culturally significant, I hope the critics and general public give it the credit it deserves. I really think it's too good to be ignored. This album is the game changer for Lana.

Honestly the messiness of this era is part of the ride and I wouldn't have it any other way at this point. The meltdowns people have about it only reinforce the statement she's making about our culture in The Greatest.

"The culture is lit and I had a ball" is a brilliant lyric. It's ironic and satirical and endearing in such a Lana way, and fits perfectly with the sad message of the song in our times.

How could anyone be complaining that we didn't get FIILY when we have The Greatest. And we don't even have to feel that badly for listening because we bought it legally on a major streaming platform. That's on Google, not us I am overwhelmed by the song. It's truly spectacular.

Holy shit it's brilliant and makes all the songs we know already and their placement in the track listing make perfect sense. This song sounds like the thesis of the album (if not her entire career) and makes knowing that Hope ends the album extremely powerful. The last minute just gutted me omg. Definitely her best album coming.

I'm kind of relieved the song isn't here, and hope they don't come out before the album (although I know they will, probably this weekend) I know I can choose not to listen, but that's not that realistic because spotify plays throughout the office every day at work, and my friends will certainly be playing her new songs when we're all hanging out this weekend, so I won't be able to avoid hearing if they do get released. And I definitely don't want my first listen to be in the background speakers at work lol.

I'm almost positive we'll also get "you did it alllllll for fame" in The Next Best American Record. She probably decided not to repeat the same lyrics and have the story build more.

I think religion is a really personal topic that means a lot of different things to different people. I am personally not religious, but my husband is and his family has always attended a church that does not accept gay marriage. Of course it bothers me but I also know he gets a lot of comfort from other things in the religion and rejects the things he doesn't agree with. We don't know what Lana gets from attending church services, and we don't know what her relationship is with religion. Maybe she goes to those churches because they're frequented by celebrities so she knows she can attend and be left alone. Who knows. All I do know is that there's nothing about her that seems homophobic to me. She has a massive gay following and has always seemed supportive in my opinion. I mean, she's in a lesbian relationship in the Summertime Sadness video after all. Regardless, Looking For America is gorgeous and thoughtful.

WOW these 2 new songs are fucking flawless and they're not even a part of the album. Oh how I wish she could quickly add them to the end and have them pressed onto the vinyls that we've already ordered lol.

Truth. She said it would be out top of the year, instead it's coming out a few months later. And now she's giving us a gorgeous album trailer, 2 awesome cover songs, a beautiful spontaneous song posted on insta, a feature on Charlie's Angels soundtrack, high budget music videos, etc. People are really entitled if they think she owes them an apology, and should probably spend a little bit more time offline and connecting with things that really matter.

Well you definitely seem to be in the minority here, so just because you don't feel the same way doesn't mean this album won't reach Ultraviolence heights for a lot of people. Let's wait until we hear it all to judge in either direction, but in general there seems to be a lot of positive hype for what we've heard. I strongly disagree with this, and anyone saying that it sounds like a bunch of random sentences thrown together is definitely missing the point and magic of the song. It's a hazy trip down memory lane and evokes a feel unlike anything I've heard before. It's Lana's best song in my opinion, and one of the best songs released by anyone in a long time. Saying it's bad writing just because the lyrics don't seem coherent to you is just wrong.

Finally caved and listening to the snippets. Only listening once, I deleted them, but everything sounds amazing. Except Next Best American Record, what on earth on those new lyrics? Hoping they make more sense in context of the full song, and we haven't fully lost the "you did it all for fame" part. Anyways, super excited, and I will listen to Looking For America on repeat until the album drops because it's painfully beautiful and I can't stop.

I desperately want to listen to the snippets but also desperately want to wait. Decisions.

If she didn't rework Best American Record at all, then I suspect revenge. Which, tbh, fair enough.

I feel like the over-the-top kitschiness is deliberate, especially now with the neon green vinyl. The fact that the album ends with a song as devastating as Hope, and the artwork/visuals are so over the top makes me even more intrigued tbh.
