  1. Lol right I'm hoping the nuance on what they're saying got lost in google translation or is further elaborated on later in the review, because otherwise they call the album a masterpiece and reference David Lynch which are both very good things
  2. Die Presse: https://www.diepresse.com/6050543/lana-del-rey-lasziv-und-doch-melancholisch I don't speak German and it's behind a pay wall, but what I got from Google Translate: Lana Del Rey: Lascivious and yet melancholy With “Blue Banisters” the singer delivers her second masterpiece this year. A few weeks before the release of “Blue Banisters”, Lana Del Rey switched off her social media channels. She has obviously had enough of the abuse that her consistently anti-feminist attitude has provoked in our time, in which a mass neurosis called "wokeness" is rampant. Del Rey has a very differentiated image of men. She stays true to her preferred topics. And does it in a narrative style that is reminiscent of the cinematic language of David Lynch.
  3. I would say if you've lasted this long, wait until you can listen exactly how you envision with no distractions!
  4. Why do even the good reviews need to throw it all away with some stupid sentence at the end: "It’s so good that you can’t help wonder whether it would’ve had even more impact if Chemtrails never existed at all." Fuck off, Kevin.
  5. I really hope this isn't a sign of what's to come with these reviews I truly don't understand why someone would want to be a music critic if they aren't going to spend time with the album and try to understand it. If you still don't like it after that, then that's fine, but at least explain your critiques.
  6. Exactly! An actual review is meant to analyze the music, that should not be too much to ask. That review was rudely written and full of lazy takes and inaccurate details.
  7. Perhaps a popup swimsuit shop for the LA girls, black bathing suits only
  8. Omg Ed just posted "this beautiful album is out tomorrow, more stellar songwriting from Lana. If you're in LA tomorrow look out for something special"
  9. Manifesting that the next album will be the true surprise release that she said she wants to do And then we'll get the covers album before that with a proper announcement and pre-release so we still have somewhere to go for all our shenanigans
  10. The version of Beautiful that we have is much better than the strings version. The strings sound a bit messy to me and take away from her words a bit. Why on earth would we want piano added to NOTG? Its stark guitar is what makes it so special. Lowkey strings would have been nice on Cherry Blossom but it's still stunning. If You Lie Down With Me would be a great choice for a single! Black Bathing Suit may be the most important and vulnerable song of her career.
  11. @Shades omg that was so well put, exactly how I feel about the album
  12. I could be wrong but I remember her saying something like "it's just cool so what's not to like" which does not mean that it's safe. It is cool but it's also very complex, and Lana definitely seemed very proud of it. I don't get mainstream pop from NFR. But anyways this is the wrong thread for this topic. Blue Banisters is upon us
  13. I honestly don't think NFR is a safe album at all and I'll never understand why people think so. A slightly softer sound on the surface does not make it safe, it's a deeply complex project and absolutely as brilliant as people say. Anyways, Blue Banisters is also brilliantIt further explains her as an artist and a person and I really hope people take the time to absorb it fully
  14. Omg that caption is so truly beautiful
  15. Agreed! Or at least by critics who will really spend time with the album and try to understand it before phoning in a half-assed review. Lana contains multitudes and cannot be grasped in one or two listens I just wish Stereogum didn't ruin a decent review by calling her pandemic background music to charge your phone to, and by making the headline "a soundtrack for another slog." Both of those are a lot more negative than the review reads and I can't imagine she'll like those descriptions Anyways, I know reviews don't really matter but here we gooo!
  16. They also called Clay her fiancé in the review lol Like, do your research first, it's not that hard. Overall they did say a lot of really positive things about her and the album though
  17. Not a bad review, but that person clearly should have spent more time absorbing the album because some of those criticisms are just not it...
  18. I will collapse if Black Bathing Suit gets the big budget complex short film that it deserves
  19. This needs to be an emoji, it is the most flawless and definitive representation of disappointment
