She has songs called "I Can Fly", "Fucked My Way Up To The Top" and "Diet Mountain Dew".
Two of her best songs are called "Blue Jeans" and "Video Games".
People want ongs to be released because they are called "Fine China", "Trans Am" or "Roses".
So why the hell would you judge songs by their names?

Everyone being so afraid of Life Is Beautiful. You all haven't even heard it in full.
Apart from this, it could be the Old Mones or Bel Air of Honeymoon.

The Style music video was directed by the same guy who directed SS and I think it's a really nice video and has some lovely ideas in it. I really liked 1989 and can't really see how Lana directly influenced her (aside from Wildest Dreams).

and all of Taylor's previous country albums went to #1 anyways

Ok, I just....Ok,...lemme try one more time. Of course it is not important to you in terms of your own pleasure. When the music sucks, it sucks. Promo doesn't make it better. Nobody is denying it.
However, when the music is great, you would want to hear more music from this artist in the future that is on the same level, right? Therefor this music needs exposure, so that further releases don't fall short, because it needs to sell well.
Besides, you would certainly enjoy this artist performing these songs live, because you love the music and you get excited seeing it performed, right? There is just a positive feeling seeing your fave on the screen singing. Or playerd on the radio when you drive to your workplace? You'd also love to see great visuals that the song deserves because it's sad when the visuals of a great song suck, right? Because it doesn't do it justice. And guess what, great visuals need money. It also isn't a bad thing to see other people reacting in a positive way towards it, because we are human after all. We love being part of something that gets recieved well and to say to ourselves: ha, ma girl. i was rooting for her from the start.

We shall all root for Lana and hope to see as much as possible from her, cause she is our favourite artist.

Because if we don't, I haven't seen a stranger fanbase than this one. Not wanting to see their fave often, performing, being liked and do commercially well as a reward for the hard work they put into the work.

and when you watch her perform songs like Shades Of Cool, Brooklyn Baby and Ultraviolence, they get a breeze of new life all of a sudden, right? Cause you see her up there, performing and having a good time with it.

I dont care about others, i care about what she can do with her music apart from releasing the album. I dont care if she charts, i care if she performs because i like to see if she does the songs justice live and the performances give the songs better longevity for me to keep enjoying the era for more time.drag lmaoooo

I think we need to remember that Lana apparently was sick during the UV era. It's possible that she would've done more promo if she hadn't been sick. Also I think she used UV as way of coping with her depression and stuff and that might explain why she moved away from it so quickly.

Anyways I really hope she'll do more promo this era, I don't expect her to do Taylor Swift level promotion, but the promotion she did during the Paradise era was enough for me. A few radio- and television performances and interviews and some really great music videos is all I'm asking for. If people don't think being a Lana fan was more exciting during the BTD/paradise era they are lying!

And the people who are calling television performances 'whoring out' need to stop. Even Tom Waits did television- and radio performances for his last album! If you want people to buy your album you need to do promo, simple as that.

That being said I have trust in Lana. She seems happier than I've seen her for a long time and this tour have been amazing so far! She's never done a bad album and I'm sure HM will be great too! Don't Le Me Be Misunderstood is one of my favorite songs of all time and I think that MTWBT sounds like a really interesting concept! I think that Life Is Beautiful sounds really beautiful and I hope it'll be on the album since it fits the theme of the HM lyrics. I'm also really excited for Mark Ronson as a producer.

Well, we never agree on these things, like EVER.

Behind promo, people always assume some Gaga or Katy kind of promo. Lana didn't even do that for BTD, but when she tries, it works.

I will never understand these people that simply fail to realise that you can not sustain as a recording artist without catering for the masses. The days where people bought music from an artist no matter what are long, long gone.
And just like it was previously stated: Lana is not a one woman show. She relies on co-writers and producers to make her music shine. Therefor, promo is a nessecary evil.

Well, if you are all fine with the situation we had with Ultraviolence because it makes you feel indy or like you would listen to "more serious music", you can have your way.
I'd prefer HQ performances on the radio and TV and some musicvideos with high quality (and I'm not talking about big budget, but about videos which aren't superlazy wannabe-deep videos like the Ultraviolence one)

They should revive MTV Unplugged just for her though    Like a 90s rock style set

She needs to get her ass up and promote all around the world. People in Europe almost forgot about Lana Del Rey. It's simple as that: if you don't promote, you don't earn much recognition from the music buying public and you are forgotten.
So ironic, since Lana doesn't want her work to be forgotten, but is not willing to work hard for it with interviews and live performances. I hope it changes. If she promotes in Germany, France and the UK, she is unstoppable. She better tours in Europe and Australia next year, otherwise she is completly erased from these markets.

And she can also leave her Instagram filtered videos for herself. Nobody wanna see that anymore.

This is a smart assessment of the point in which Lana is right now.
HM is her crucial album in my opinion too. UV was different from BTD, it was less viable commercially but what was lost in that area it was compensated with critical acclaim. I see Lana as a borderline mainstream artist (she had a few hits WG, SS, YB) but her lack of exposure in the mainstream media, for about more than 2 years now, is a problem for her because she became overly dependent commercially on her fans (UV was very successful for 2-3 weeks, when her fan base snatched up the album, but after that dropped like a rock in sales). She has some unique strengths: unique voice, ear for melodies, the ability to conjure a specific mood, looks. But she has weaknesses: sub par live performances, repetitive lyrical content. So, at this time she has a solid fan base but this is not granted forever to her. Let's not forget that some of her fans are rooting for her for 4 years now and this is a long time for any relationship. She has a fairly varied fan base but the bulk of her fans are young people who are evolving and who will expect soon some variation in her lyrical themes to remain interested. I think that HM will be a watershed for her fan base. If she will disappoint musically and she'll show the same "I don't care" attitude like in the UV era she'll lose a lot of quality fans.

The crux of her new era will be her attitude: she needs to shred the overly shy, uncertain singer image. After 3 years of touring there is no reason for her to feel crippled on stage, she absolutely can sing but she has to take seriously her performances (from what I saw in this tour she improved in all areas of her show).

I have to say that I don't like the leaked HM lyrics. In my opinion, as far as lyrics goes, they aren't viable commercially and they aren't good from a critical point of view. It's the bad middle-point that I fear for the HM era. I think that there is time for her to make adjustments and she needs to pay attention to the few critics who made valid points about her work.

One of the most exciting things about Lana is that no two albums sound alike. That's pretty rare in popular music these days.

There needs to be a version of Godwin's law, but with Katy. "As time goes on, the probability of a pop music stan condescendingly telling someone to listen to Katy Perry approaches one." Not liking Ride doesn't make you unsophisticated. Art isn't two opposite poles of Lana and Katy. Accusing someone of liking Katy is cheap and pointless. People can like music for different purposes. Katy is a feel good artist, not an auteur, and I'm fine with that. If I want musical sophistication, I'll listen to classical, and if I want poetic sophistication, I'll read an actual poem. Let's also not pretend like Lana is the purest form of art or anything. She's a great artist, but she is so not perfect or even close.
