  1. Yeah like I'm sure the band totally enjoys playing the same fucking setlist since 2012. Blames the band to substitute for her own laziness. & will we ever get rid of the security blanket that is Alex and Ashley? They're useless up there and that dead fish "choreography" Lana does just contributes to her shortcomings. Like I get that they were introduced when she was trying to morph into a format similar to Amy Winehouse/her backup singers Ade & Zalon but now it's just overkill and ridiculous + the positioning makes no sense, why is Lana frequently in the background lmao everything regarding her live act nowadays is a fucking mess.
  2. She's a total rubbish performer these days with a few short glimpses of what she used to be. It's sad, because she has potential due to how naturally charismatic she is as an artist. Obviously she was not a perfect live act before, but she was invested and took the time to cultivate that and her live renditions were overall enjoyable and interesting to watch and listen to. Now she looks like she feels she's too ~kewl~ to be there and keeps excusing the lack of new/never performed songs saying "the band doesn't know that one yet" followed by a boring 30 second acapella no one wanted. Well get them to f*cking rehearse it, that is a huge part of their job after all. If she insists on performing certain BTD songs, she could easily get her band to switch up the sound of them to keep it fresh, as they've slightly altered other songs in the past, but she clearly cannot be bothered with that either.
  3. What's the point of churning out album after album year by year saying how much you ~luv your new songs~ while rambling about how much you ~luv touring with my road dogz~ when the majority of your setlist is made up of shit from your first major label debut album.
  4. She can stop releasing music if it's gonna sound anything like what we've gotten thus far anyway
  5. The fact that she has not uttered a word regarding her management's behavior towards fans who simply want to know what the fuck is going on is truly something else Trust that she has all the time in the world to DM Spin Magazine to go fuck themselves in 2017 cause they said she's boring in interviews
  6. Has Lana even told fans which shows she's planning on axing yet
  7. It's weird cause I feel like she's more of a caricature now than ever before. The whole baddie shit for starters, I mean her image in general. Though I do prefer her being more laidback than the whole "I feel like only me and Barrie understand music on a deep level" spiel she went on a few years ago during an interview. Then, lyrics like "shaking my azzzz" "two cats in da yard" "it's me ya little venice bitch, ice cweam, ice queen" which are just laughable to say the least. Simplicity can be nice in some cases but Lana literally admitted she is too lazy to simply reshoot NFR's album cover. That isn't simplistic that's just being a sloth & since she is so "indulged" in politics you'd think she'd take note of just how privileged that type of laziness is
  8. If u like it then that doesn't make u any less or any more "educated" on a particular genre than someone else Funnily @@bummersummer or whatever their name is tried that card with me, assuming I hate psychedelic music just because I think Venice Pig sucks, but that wasn't pointed out.
  9. She doesn't seem to understand that u can be political without sounding like a concerned mom who has a monthly subscription to buzzfeed The Future (song not album) by Leonard Cohen would be a good starting point for her regarding human condition since she seems to like drawing from him so often It is so strange that someone who has Nina Simone, a very political artist in her heyday, tattooed on her chest but seems to have no idea how to depict her own political thoughts into a song. That just tells me that it is too unnatural for her and she is not well versed on things she preaches regarding that in general
  10. Thank God a Melanie fan told me and not someone who listens to something that is actually worthwhile
  11. Roachella was Lana roleplaying that "won't somebody please think of the children" bitch from The Simpsons I don't remember anyone hoping it would be acoustic but I do remember people hoping it would be psychedelic (and not the boring type like Venice Pig) I haven't seen anyone bashing another person regarding Venice Bitch today. It's all been pretty tame discussions. Where are u seeing people bashing one another?
  12. Screaming Imagine she released it without Jack Antonoff's amateur outro It'd receive the same feedback as the other songs from this era. Boring & uninspired So since everyone ignores Venice's verses (with good reason) I guess those who accredit Lana for Venice Pig's outro should really kiss Jack's toes for that lame "psYcHeDELic experiEncE" since Lana struggles to play even Yayo on the guitar
  13. White Mustank is Lana on autopilot. She truly ran out of shit to write about at that point
  14. Just bc psychedelia has many discordant chords doesnt mean it isnt "composed". Syd composed majority of Interstellar Drive and there is an improvisation segue which is then cooled down by a riff Peter Jenner came up with prior to recording the song (aka not improvised and instead planned) What exactly is interesting and compelling about Jack Antonoff's amateur guitar solo
  15. Ffs what does she even do during soundchecks Her setlists need a serious reboot. Hopefully the next time she tours she switches it up drastically
  16. Another overrated song. That hook really has no business being so repetitive
  17. Typical of Lana to remember Pawn Shop Blue's lyrics in order to sing it for those random fans but not Cherry's bridge
  18. Is she ever gonna reveal what the bg vocals are during Cherry's bridge I'm sick of the "looking at me like a magazine" shit people keep claiming she says
  19. And no I don't like Echoes Saucerful of Secrets is their best in terms of psychedelia & White Rabbit is shit
  20. What psychedelia lacks in lyricism can be more than made up for when the composition is excellent (which Venice lacks) Venice is nothing more than Lana whispering over a simple guitar with goofy lyrics to boot. Seems very reminiscent of May Jailer to me I enjoy psychedelic jazz like Sextant the most and psychedelic funk like Maggot Brain. Stomu Yamashta is also good. What's that gotta do with anything tho
  21. Perceived correctly because she was inauthentic. She literally lied saying she was too poor to get lip fillers when the results are written on her face and would get furious when questioned I agree that her image should have no impact when reviewing the actual music, but it did, however it was not the main attraction to the hate. Lana sounded awful on Shakira Night Live which did not help the authenticity cause (and is a direct link to their perception of her talent so it will inevitably be on reviewers minds as it was one week before the album's official release) True its success is celebrated nowadays & its impact is obviously prevalent. When does that equate to critical acclaim though? May I remind u that public recognition/the resurgence is not the same as critical acclaim. Yes some reviewers praise BTD when its anniversary comes around, but let's not act like it is NOW renowned as a "critics darling" type of record because it still isn't. That's what Honeymoon & LFL are for (both received well in their PRESENT time and not just upon retrospection due to "cultural impact"). BTD is more culturally effective (which in my opinion holds more merit than a critics opinion, but your initial comment was the opposite - u hold critics views to a higher regard) than critically effective. Plus, there's many classic albums out there that were not recognized as such until a later time (like Black Sabbath's self titled album & Paranoid) so no shame in that. BTD is miles better than LFL anyway But you're placing value upon critics opinions when you know that their response to Lana's first 3 efforts (+including Paradise) was not a positive experience for her. As I mentioned before, Lana told Pitchfork in 2017 that she decided to strip things back due to the criticism she received for BTD's production So critics hailed Lust For Life her second best album instantaneously (with no need for any "retrospection") but Born To Die didn't quite cut it for them until years later & u think that's due to the quality of the album in their minds, rather than its subsequent booming success? I just don't see how u can hold critic's opinion to a higher regard when BTD is her lowest on metacritic's scale and LFL is her second highest (again, 1 score below Honeymoon). Unless u agree with them?
  22. I love long and/or psychedelic songs I don't loves snoozefests with shit lyrics I like how me disliking Venice suddenly means I hate the entire psychedelia genre consisting of thousands of songs U speak of logic but are u flaunting it?
