i believe it is time for another mixtape. i know people consider n1a/pop2 to be albums but i think that the context and format of the "mixtapes" allowed for some experimentation and i would like to see charlize push the envelope again. she's already confirmed she's working on the next album already so this is wishful thinking

i mean look at her original contemporaries charli and grimes; both are extremely successful now and sky arguably had the leg up due to her industry connections. if she had released 2 or 3 albums by this point she would have cemented herself as a gen z fiona apple/hope sandoval/courtney love and could have occupied a niche similar to what halsey currently fills. 2010s tumblr culture has been hugely influential in art/music/fashion in the 2020s, and if sky had grown her career over the years i feel like she could have 100% been a main indie pop gerl

i admit i was optimistic back in the spring because it seemed like there was a lot being set up in order for her to succeed but like... the single was delayed, the video was scrapped, nothing came of the publishing deal, the press tour was just filled with contradictions and empty promises, she was late to every single festival performance. i'm not even sure i care enough anymore to be disappointed or annoyed or anything other than just entertained by the pure spectacle of it all. i understand that sometimes things don't go as planned but the constant false starts are starting to get hilarious, 9 years and this woman still hasn't learned to keep her cards closer to her chest

if the album is allegedly almost finished then she doesn’t need the funding to make it so what reason could capitol possibly have for not wanting to see it be put out. how does not releasing an album that is apparently almost ready to be released serve them in in any way. what is she implying with this label interference narrative, that they‘re not interested in making money off of her and would rather torment her for sport? i’m sorry like she could say they won’t provide her the financial means to record/produce/mix/master it, this would at least make some sense especially considering they didn’t fund her first album either but saying this would mean she’d have to admit that she lied and that the album is not really done. they’re not preventing her from performing because she booked a bunch of festival dates and was late to every one. they’re not neglecting to do promo because she booked a whole ass press tour regardless of the fact that there’s nothing to promote. she’s explained nothing as to what exactly capitol is doing to prohibit her from releasing anything and why they would stand to gain literally anything from doing so
