i'm also very curious/will never know the answer to how much of crash is or is not about huck. presumably it was done before they broke up in the fall but there's really only a handful of songs that allude to a fulfilling relationship while the rest seem to have overhanging themes of self destruction and feeling held back. it's interesting because they allegedly broke up after she cheated on him at the grammy's in 2017 and were back together before she released self titled, then they were apparently on the rocks again before the pandemic but they became closer as a result of the lockdown right when she was making and releasing hifn... in some ways it almost feels like she used those albums as a medium to prove her love to him or something (thoughts, white mercedes, silver cross, official, february 2017, forever, claws, detonate, enemy) but i know that's entirely speculation lol. we also know she was working on crash prior to hifn so some of the songs on this album may have been written during a time when they weren't doing so well, but of course she's said this is her sellout era and these songs could all be about entirely hypothetical situations anyway she and george daniel look so cute

bitch you’re delusional all they said was that they didn’t like the music, publicly calling someone a cunt is an appropriate “clapback”now? how many artists get critiqued on the daily and manage to not namesearch and harrass fans 💀 like i’ve been a diehard fan of this woman for a decade and it would be frustrating to be in her position but she was immature and unprofessional today… the world will go on and there’s no need for fans to do mental gymnastics trying to justify her behaviour let’s all just say yikes and carry on streaming
-
the person she started attacking was not being rude or shady or mean they didn’t even tag her, all they said was the singles weren’t doing it for them… they even said charli is still a supreme and you people are trying to justify charli calling them a cunt i’m sorry you’re all being fucking insane

good ones was a very strong start to the era but i mean… new shapes, beg for you, and baby all clearly struggled in the budget department. i honestly don’t think control has anything to do with it, she’s been very clear about her vision and her choices for this era. she’s just not a radio darling in the way that dua/doja/ariana are and atlantic isn’t willing to invest in her like they should because they’re afraid they won’t see that money back. i’ve said this before but it ties into why she was doing that NFT thing, she’s said she funds a lot of her work herself and the label is obviously not willing to step up. but then when she does what she needs to do in order to deliver an era she is proud of her own fans try to get her cancelled over some dumb shit. the fact that the songs are short is the most obvious issue but i do think there are other areas some of them fall flat. like others have said, they’re a little lacking in the funk department. the production is not quite as punchy as i would like. but it’s really not that big of a deal so i’ve kept my mouth shut about this, other people have done different

there’s being mean and there’s sharing an opinion, i don’t think the two should be automatically conflated. i understand why she’d be feeling defensive because she’s clearly worked extremely hard on this album and the reception has been mixed. no one cares that her PC era is over, her new sexy 80s vibe is a very natural progression of her sound and is cohesive with her discography thus far; from what i’ve seen everyone is on board with it. i think the main issue people are having is that the execution is not necessarily living up to the concept. it’s a very luxurious and ambitious era overall so when there are budget issues for the videos it is apparent. the songs are short and designed to make you want to play them again so i understand why some people would find them underwhelming. the visuals have been absolutely gorgeous and i personally enjoy everything she’s released but the singles are rarely my favourites off her albums anyways, i hope once people hear crash in its entirety it will click. i’ve shared this opinion here before and gotten dragged for it but i think some of her fans are just disappointed in some untapped potential

neaux oh my god i was so excited for the video …. sloppy choreo and not one outfit change… at least the song fucks
-
who else was scared… me too i was really really scared you guys

singles should have been good ones, used to know me, and baby

people on here are just reinforcing the tweets she’s been receiving so the sentiment is the exact same. we don’t want her to “promote” or “endorse” NFTs but not promoting them is apparently also the wrong move… okay. we want a big budget era but she’s not allowed to acquire the money to fund said budget… okay. if she’s being offered business opportunities i don’t really see why anyone would argue that she’s in the position to reject them. she has made it clear she finances a lot of her work herself. cars and phones, luxury goods and services etc are really not essential to anything other than participating in a consumerist culture. this understanding of capitalism is entirely based on life in western imperialist nations, the vast majority of people in the world live life without an iphone. it’s not a false equivalency, there is no ethical consumption under capitalism. let’s not cherrypick
-
you people are literally insane what good do you think yelling at her about this is going to do... yes NFTs are bad for the environment so is literally everything else about capitalist culture. nobody attacks you for driving a car or using a phone. charli didn't like invent NFTs, she's not some major investor, she didn't even announce this promotional performance as far as i'm aware it was obviously being kept on the low. is harassing her off of social media during her album campaign really the hill you all want to die on? this hostility is so misplaced, if you're that mad about it go protest a pipeline or read some lenin or something. her fans say they want her to succeed then try to cancel her over dumb shit like this
-
i just find it all very contradictory tbh... like one minute she's talking about the artistry that goes into pop music and how she wants to make a more "pure pop" album then the next minute apparently she's just trolling. everyone has been making a fuss about the lack of promo and budget from atlantic for her releases and she has voiced her frustration in not having the support or trust in her vision from her label, yet when she books promo gigs she puts so little effort into trying to come across as likeable. obviously members of her niche fanbase know she's incredibly smart and hilarious and charming and i can completely understand how reacting to corny covers for example may not feel like a productive use of her time but to me it just feels like a squandered opportunity. sometimes the interviewers or whoever just don't really respect her legendarity and do their research or give her much to work with but she's got an incredible personality and i'll never understand why she doesn't try harder to share that with wider audiences, especially within the context of her "main pop girl era." when i first heard that term used before crash was underway i was so pumped for her to maybe have the commercial success that we know she is capable of (see boom clap, fancy, i love it), and let's not kid ourselves and say she doesn't care about charting or sales/streams at all because good ones was sent to radio, she's booking late night tv peformances, she's doing these glamour/vogue youtube videos and the pandora contract, she's utilized her industry connections (as per her crack interview) for album production and she's given us cunt music videos with choreo and visuals; like she is putting in work and we can't assume it's all for nothing. atlantic is obviously optimistic about some level of success for the record otherwise they wouldn't be pouring money into it. i think it's smart for her not to get her hopes up too high for any commercial success so if and when it does come then it's a pleasant surprise, otherwise she may be setting herself and/or others up for disappointment and if she doesn't end up charting well then that's fine. but if she's just gonna half ass these promotional opportunities then why even bother, she should be really trying to sell it. like it's not just normies that may stumble across whatever interview she may do, her fans are interested in seeing her too. anyways i'm not trying to be negative, it's got to be so exhausting putting this all together especially with her relatively small team but i just want the best for her and am picking up on some untapped potential

loving her lack of energy go girl give us nothing
-
i really like lightning but idk how to download this shxt

i'm fucking pissed wgfu never got a release. i'm mad as hell actually

i honestly don't feel like there is any way either of her mixtapes could have ever gotten any promo beyond what she was willing to fund herself, like even post tik tok trend the best she could do was a visualizer and i feel like that's all we would have gotten back then as well. contractually n1a/pop2 were mixtapes because the label didn't want to fund them and in 2017 tik tok was musical.ly so...
