Overall rating: 4.5/5 First impression: I thought it was the best song on the album and was hoping she'd make a video for it.. actually, I was convinced she would. I remember waiting for her early performances to come up on youtube so I could watch. When she'd sing it live she'd change the lyrics from time to time i.e. Sipping on your Dom Perignon, oh fuck yes! I think she was still performing You Can Be The Boss around this time, too. Sigh.. Impression now: I still love this song. I think- just based on viewing the video Lana made again- that Gods and Monsters was a continuation of the story told in OTTR. I notice that in the OTTR video, if I'm not incorrect, all of the women featured are Latina, which is interesting. I still wish she'd sing it live. It's so different from most of her set- I get that it's very difficult to sing b/c it's kind of all over the place but it's so interesting to hear. Whatever Gods and Monsters was trying to do, OTTR already did 10x better. iTunes plays: I never use Itunes Songs I play along with it: Radio & Diet Mt Dew (Album version) What I like about it: Upbeat, fun to drive to, theatrical, various intonations used throughout the song. I understand why everyone lusts after a demo version because so much has been done to the song, as far as production is concerned What I dislike about it: The fact that Lana doesn't perform it anymore.. that it wasn't capitalized on for radio play Memories I associate with this song: Early performances, certain outfits she wore while performing this song, I remember this being played on promo for 90210 or Gossip Girl.. one of those shows and being excited Colors/images that come to mind: The color green. I see Lana the way she looked in the National Anthem homemade video and imagine her up in her "bell tower hotel" and sitting by the pool while her boyfriend gambles/ raises hell all over town. It always made me think of a woman avenging her boyfriend's death Favorite lyrics: "You are my one true love", "God, I'm so crazy, baby, I'm sorry that I'm misbehaving." "Raising hell all over town, Sorry 'bout it!" I like when she says "yo" and the "flat broke down life" too. But my favorite is probably "Who else is gonna put up with me this way?" I swear I've taken so many phrases from this song to use irl lmao Interpretation: Ride or die lifestyle, stand by your man, etc

For me, this song represents the feelings of a new love, and how it can bring happiness+ hope for good things to come It reminds me of summer time when I was just getting to know my boyfriend, and he would always drive and I controlled the radio 8) Like @@Rafael, I like the way she uses different intonations for various lyrics, like in "How'd you get so hot?" to make it sound more flirtatious/loving My favorite line is "You tell me not to worry because you're the boss" I like the way its repeated in the video.. the "heavier than heavenly" line doesn't resonate with me as much as it used to, now that I know where that saying comes from ;p Also, I feel like this is one of her more innocent songs. Typically- even in her nicest love songs- there is a twisted element to it. I.e. "Never Let Me Go"- I can be your Nancy, you can be my Sid, "I Don't Wanna Go" - "Loving you isn't right" "It's original sin" In "On Our Way", however, even though she's telling the guy that he's the boss, there doesn't seem to be any signs of an unstable relationship. She's saying WE're on our way ~as in they're going together~ instead of pleading for the guy to stay with her (or leave with her- i.e. Teenage Wasteland/ Lucky Ones, etc)/ lamenting the fact that her man has left her, which I think are common themes in LDR songs. (BUT this song also makes me think of EMGHW~ EMGHW being OOW's darker sibling song.. like the road trip that started in On Our Way turned bad)

TrailerParkDarling replied to lflflflflflflflflflf's topic in Retired Pre-Release Threads
I think the Ultraviolence cover will be something simple, like her twitter dp all i'm asking is for no steelfish, radio, or evil of frankenstein fonts And maybe that song she wrote for her friend was just a personal song.. I'm sure she makes lots of songs that are just for friends/ not for public consumption -

I REALLY don't understand why any intelligent person would send their child with an addiction problem AWAY. If that were true, I'd understand if Lana held resentment toward them in the past.
