I think when she talks about dying her hair, her wedding dress, etc. in Black Beauty she's talking about present day~ she does it to honor him. And it also sounds as though its her way of mourning him~ making her outer self seem dark to match his inner self

Lana lived in the Manhattan Trailer Court mobile park on Tonnelle Avenue in North Bergen, New Jersey- where there is Tonnelle station- you are a tunnel lined with yellow lights. I bet she saw the lights of the train from her window, and heard the loud noises of the train and the trailer park, dreaming of Jimmy to take her away :') This belongs in Lanalysis maybe but I'm having FEELINGS okay. When they were living in California, it took 2 hours to Nevada, it was a happy time, the world seemed new, etc. And now she wants him to take her out of the dark trailer park life because she misses that. I think she was the one using then, obviously cocaine, and it was fucking w/ her dreams~ thinking of happier times with this guy or the life she wished she could live. And they are tearing that trailer park down in 2014

I don't think Chuck is awful but I feel like anyone can be a good portrait photographer if you have a nice camera. Like if you get a nice Nikon all of a sudden you are a ~photographer~ (My apologies to all photographers on the forum) Her + Nicole edit so much (that contrast+recolor tool) to make the people look like cartoons, I don't understand why. The worst is really Chuck's cropping, it's always so fucked. I did like The Dreamland photos, but I wonder if they are just sort of plain for an album? I will say Nicole's BTD cover is iconic and quite striking, imo. Lana is a great muse, I feel like anyone will think a photo of her is "good" because she is pretty And I really like the harshness of this photo by Chuck.

You know how some people get angry and they write a letter and then they don't mail it just to get their emotions out? I think that Lana wrote songs instead of doing that, like as a way to release the negative energy. I don't know that she was really "mad" at Gaga, I just think she was an easy target. It seems like Lana had been working to be famous for a while. She had been on the scene with a shelved album and then all of a sudden Stefani blows up. They had a lot of similarities, namely Bob Leone, who it seems like spent most of his time and energy on Stefani. Lana was still playing in little bars when she heard Gaga on the radio. Maybe Lana felt like Gaga hadn't paid her dues or really earned it, or Lizzy felt like she deserved it more because she had more talent or something. It does seem like a case of envy/ sad realization that her dream may not come into fruition..at least not the way she wants it to. I think of it sort of as a ~ Why doesn't everybody like me?~ song. And it does seem to be the point where she 'sells out' and decides to try a different style of music and even create a new name "Lana Del Rey", as Gaga did. She realized she might not be able to make it as Lizzy Grant and as her ~legit~ self. It certainly fits the time line. I really like this song, it's so sad and desperate.
