Liked it too... the visuals were well-shot. Looks quality. But it’s minimalist and then over-the-top like PC Music, with the obnoxious jet-ski tricks lol. It definitely works.

Right but you don’t have the typical “verse/chorus/verse/chorus/etc...” a lot of those kinds of songs also have verses that are basically the same just with different lyrics or slight differences, but 2099 just constantly morphs into something new as it plays. As does Click, Shake It, February 2017 (although I really think it could’ve benefited from a more traditional structure, IMO... but that’s just me)... I’m sure there are others I’m missing.

There are really no parts that repeat, except the chorus... but even then it’s modified and builds. It’s a lot more unpredictable in its arrangement and production than most other songs, especially in pop. A lot of songs on the album are like that really, in different ways.

I like the progressive structure of 2099... some of the production is super cool, that vocal pan especially. I wish Charli did a nice little vocal run or two though, kinda similar to that one time they performed it.

The The audio on YouTube has nearly cracked 1 million views already... I mean, it seems like people like it. Charli’s rap on it flows effortlessly. I hope the video takes the song up a notch.

Yeah I know she’s self-conscious, but I personally think she sounds decent if not, great most of the time... maybe she did strain her voice at one point, but she can sing well and her voice is unique. It’s not the typical “singer’s voice” but she more than makes up with how many different vocal styles she uses in her songs. But most people don’t care to dig any deeper than what they hear in the moment. I also think people focus too heavily on the singer’s performance rather than the song itself, which IMO is unfortunate.

Yet there’s always some idiot saying she can’t sing in the comments. They sounded great!

I kind wish Fallon went more into the history of her songwriting and hits... maybe mentioned Señorita... just to give viewers the big picture. But she did great with what they had for her. I will say that that was my first time hearing Dinosaur Sex so thanks for that Jimmy...

I like that on Metacritic, "Charli" is already #8 in most "discussed/talked about" albums of the year. Not sure what that metric is going off of, but that's pretty cool anyway... Generating buzz!!

Noooo... it feels like a victory for Charli and all her fans, and if anything that’s why it feels emotional heavy for me. It’s like “she did it... she FINALLY DID IT!” And it’s a culmination of everything she’s done, hence the references and nostalgia.
