Is Charli bigger than it seems? I was surprised to see she has 15+ million monthly listeners on Spotify alone. That seems really really good. That’s beating out some of my favorite rock acts (that play amphitheaters on every tour) by quite a lot. Edit: I feel like a lot these charts and statistics are kind of off anymore these days... referring to the Billboard chart position... literally SO many people are too far gone from actually purchasing their music. The masses have been for the better part of 10+ years... not to mention in Charli’s case her physical copies haven’t even made to shelves yet. Idk, the industry is just so convoluted and messy now, it’s hard to get a sense as to where an artist sits with the GP unless they’re Ariana, Taylor Swift, Post Malone, and all the “trendy” Top 40 groups. Which this whole layer within the industry seems to kind of be fizzling out lately too in a way. Idk... it’s weird.

Throw Round and Round in between Taxi and Good Girls and then we're talking!

”All of the things that we sometimes forget All of the dreams that you put in my head I'm still asleep, but there's breakfast in bed These are the things that could make us OFFICIAL...........” :crai:

I need the next Charli project to have that hyper-pop, sassy, brash, party girl swagger that was so prominent in the Vroom Vroom/XCX3 era. It was indeed a concept. Absolutely slays me every time...

I listened to some XCX World last night and I have to say, the parts I wasn't crazy about with it are kind of growing on me... I really wish she could come to terms with the situation and take control of her work again (I know she feels like her work has been taken from her)... but I saw a comment on that recent interview saying that she "shouldn't let the hacker win" and take back what is hers! I think that's a really empowering take on the matter. Of course I empathize with Charli and respect whatever she wants to do, but this is her work and her livelihood... work that she said herself that she is still proud of... It's HER battle to win, especially with the time, money, and effort she's spent on it and it's ultimately in her and Atlantic's rights to the sales and royalties. Otherwise, in doing nothing, she's (decidedly) lost it all. I also don't even believe the final mixes necessarily leaked... we know there were other reproduced/refinished versions of CTMP, Bounce, and Taxi... and GNO/No Angel were actually released with new (or added) production... who is to say that the other XCX World tracks aren't even better than what ended up leaking out? It could be an outstanding pop album, or a nice addition to her next body of work. A double mixtape, or spread the songs across multiple future releases... add some final bells and whistles on them... they are great ideas to fall back on, at the very least. Don't let the hacker win Charles! :defeated:

They should make a Charli POP vinyl figure with her pink dipped bob...
-
Wow, Tears near the bottom of the list... I stopped reading. No taste...
-
Imagine if we can get the 2099 music video to a million views in the first week! Next level bop.
-
Right... and the first freaking night of the tour?? Like, COME ON guys! It’s like a completely soulless reaction...

I cannot believe people were out there criticizing her new setlist, promoting her NEW album!! Do these people not know how these tours/concerts work?? Charli has so much released material, you’re never going to hear everything you want to hear anymore. It’s just the truth of the matter. I went to a concert last night, one of my all time favorites, but they had to cut so many fan-favorites for newer stuff, and there’s only so much time. Did I hear everything I wanted? No. But was it a badass show?? Absolutely yes! There’s a definite entitlement problem in this fanbase, sorry but it’s just a fact. I get that everyone loves Charli and her music and wants to see her succeed and whatnot, but a setlist is totally different. There’s a time and place for constructive criticism. This is not it. With the leaks and releasing fan-favorite music for example, there’s at least an argument there, where there’s a potential further opportunity to support the artist... but a setlist? No... the setlist itself means nothing for her bottom line. You bought your ticket, you go and enjoy the show. It’s her gig...
-
Also why did Charli NOT book at gig in Orlando, land of the gays?? I would’ve been the only straight person there, but still... lol
-
All the locals in the 2099 comment section with the 2D brain... this song is operating in the FOURTH dimension baby!!
-
I’m not going to say much else but there’s just something so special about the SOPHIE version of No Angel... just imagine it with the final bridge, and it’s just future, mainstream PC-pop perfection. But it will never not make me nostalgic for the hype and pre-XCX3 and the idea of the unknown and what that album could’ve been. The final version is great but the muddy sounding synths vs. that really high attack, jagged synth tone? Thankfully the final version has the new bridge to make up for the production changes.
-
I strongly feel that (in the state in which it leaked anyway) it just wasn’t right... a lot of what’s there is good, it just needs extra polish like you said. Final mastering/mixing... really make the production pop... and some tweaks to pitch/key of some tracks and tempo boosts (particularly with Good Girls, Waterfall, and Down Like Woah)... they just kinda drag for what they are and could sound a little “brighter.” I heard some SoundCloud uploads of them with these tweaks a while back, and it was a night and day difference compared to the actual leaked files.

Can we talk about how infinitely more badass Charli is than Troye in 2099? She straight up served...
-
MELON CAME THRUUU!! Just what we need... a stan with impact!
-
Woahhh yeah... super meta!! :defeated:
-
Hahahaha... Click just pops straight off like I’m literally laughing as I’m listening it’s so good.
-
Zoomin’ like a jet ski... ZOOOOOM ZOOM!!
-
I gotta admit, I was a little unsure about 2099 early on, before the studio version came out... but it's a massive bop.
-
February 2017 is like flying through the loneliness of space and then 2099, it’s like you arrive on a weird planet with like a green sky, orange rivers, and purple grass and there’s like pink little 3-legged, one-eyed aliens running around It’s actually a nice little 1, 2 punch.
-
Liked it too... the visuals were well-shot. Looks quality. But it’s minimalist and then over-the-top like PC Music, with the obnoxious jet-ski tricks lol. It definitely works.
-
Right but you don’t have the typical “verse/chorus/verse/chorus/etc...” a lot of those kinds of songs also have verses that are basically the same just with different lyrics or slight differences, but 2099 just constantly morphs into something new as it plays. As does Click, Shake It, February 2017 (although I really think it could’ve benefited from a more traditional structure, IMO... but that’s just me)... I’m sure there are others I’m missing.
-
There are really no parts that repeat, except the chorus... but even then it’s modified and builds. It’s a lot more unpredictable in its arrangement and production than most other songs, especially in pop. A lot of songs on the album are like that really, in different ways.
