this is kind of off topic but like how did all the Angels end up in a Lana Del Rey forums? lol I would expect this forum to be filled with Marina, Melanie, Lorde, Halsey (maybe?) and Sky Ferreira (if she still has any) stans. I came her because of @wheretfissticky mention this forum.

It’s annoying that people think Charli is this wholesome, pop princess, shit don’t stink type girl when in reality, she’s gritty, she’s messy, her music is gritty and messy and it all just WORKS. That’s who she is, she isn’t this polished turd that her label try to make her out to be. And I really feel like she doesn’t want to be like that. Why can’t she pop out on Taylor’s stage in full latex banging out Trophy or Vroom Vroom. Or yeah, even songs like Porsche or Blame it on You or fucking DREAMER omg. She doesn’t even perform 1 Night.

I totally get it on the Taylor tour because like you say, I doubt she has full choice of what songs go on that set list. But with things like this where she’s obviously been asked if she wants a spot on the festival or whatever it is, then surely she has more creative control

This is cute but why does she feel like she has to sing songs like I Love It and Break The Rules, I mean she even said she doesn’t like Break The Rules. It’s frustrating that she doesn’t think her other material is good enough to play to masses of people and that she has to play crowd pleasers to stay relevant. But I feel like that’s just plastering her as a one hit wonder artist to people that don’t even know she has other songs. She comes on and people are like who? And then Boom Clap/Break The Rules/I Love It comes on and they’re like oh yeah I remember this bop from 3000 years ago. Imagine she just blasted on the stage with Trophy.

y'all this weekend was just so fucking much i'm still so salty about her cancelling her Minneapolis femmebot afterparty like I literally flew from NY and had an entire outfit planned for it but I guess some fucking twitter troll managed to make a vague ass "threat" and the whole thing got cancelled? and instead charli threw her own private party with some other random twitter gays

charli has talked multiple times how she finally feels good about the music/sound she is making. i personally believe she not gonna move on from PC music ( at least not ag cook) for a while. 

I'm sure they're aware that letting her get it out of her system through an album would work however miss xcx is only contracted for one more album. If they let her release it, she's not obligated to stay signed to them after that. They clearly see value in her and want her to succeed in the mainstream (aka - make them some more boom clap and I love it money), so they're holding on to her until she has some music they think is worthy of putting promo dollars behind. 
 
They don't care about acclaim, pushing the boundaries of pop music, or artistic excellence. They care about money and how they can make some off charli, which is unfortunate.

do ya'll think her contract expires after 3 albums and 3 album tours so that's why her label is only letting her release mix tapes and singles because they still want to make some coin off of her? Not only that but they still make money from songs she writes for other artist right? I have no idea how these things work so im just guessing here lol

Tbh most of the songs she’s recorded this year that we know of, White Mercedes, 5ITM, 1000 Times, Shoes, Dance All Night etc all sound very watered down in comparison to VV. They’re electronic but not PC Music imo (like majority of POP2 btw)

To be honest, from what I’ve noticed she’s not done with an era until an album is out. IMO the quickest way for Atlantic to get rid of the PC era is to release an album. I also feel PC Muisc has freed her so much that it’ll always influence her. I do feel a new album would have a bit of a new sound but still that PC heart. I imagine it’ll always influence her, but just won’t be as prominent. Kind of like making stuff similar to No Angel, Dirty Sexy Money, 1999, Focus, & 5 In The Morning. She’ll stay pop, but it won’t be just PC pop anymore.
I also feel she’s so happy doing PC Music now & going to clubs & throwing club shows because it reminds her of her past. She was 14 doing club shows. It’s literally her roots.

I don’t think she would hate XCX World by now because it wouldn’t be something forced. Like let’s be real, Sucker sounds forced and false. It’s pretty shit and I think Charli would agree. I feel like right now she’s in a healthy progression within this sub-genre she’s found herself in. She’s never done this many shows, parties, what have you for any of her previous stuff. It’s so good to see her so passionate about her art now.

Yeah, like obviously VV was her vision and then the label made her water it down (like the punk album and Sucker), but if she had've released XCX World, she'd probably hate it by now and have a complete different style and I'm intrigued as to how that would look/sound...
 
But I love that she was able to experiment and evolve through the mixtapes! I'm just hoping for something more... like I personally think 5ITM wouldn't feel out of place on N1A and Focus on Pop 2 (obviously GNO and NA are older), so like I'm excited to see where she goes next

I just can't help but feel that if XCX World had've been released after ATAP, then she wouldn't have ventured into the mixtape/experimental stuff and we'd somewhere completely different now... sonically and visually.
 
I think the lack of an "album" since Sucker has made this feel like an entire era rather than 3 separate projects (VV, N1A, Pop2)  if that makes sense? But I'm here for as much new Charli music as possible 

to be honest, she has left her PC influences. 5itm/1999 etc aren’t. White Mercedes isn’t. Yeah focus was but I feel like that was her last. I can’t really see her releasing any more SOPHIE/AG in the future... it’ll just look messy swapping sounds (if she does actually release 1999 and songs like Shoes etc)

ngl taxi is a cute song, but a lot of you overhype the FUCK out of it....like i don't see charli releasing it as a single, maybe sophie, but i just dont see charli doing it...even though she might who knows, i just don't think it's THAT good
