this tbh this is the only thing I'm annoyed about. Lana can do whatever she wants with her promo I'm ready to be slain by the flawless music, but I don't like that was basically a false promise. **sigh**

I played TLY for my friend and work (even though he's told me many times that he doesn't really like Lana or her voice but thinks Video Games is "a solid song"), and he said that he actually thought it was pretty good. Then I told him I was so happy and he was like "this is old Lana though right?"...and I was like NO THIS IS NEW LANA YAAAASSSS QUEEN SNATCH ALL THE WEAVES AND GAIN THOSE NEW FANS!!!! He's not really a new fan but I am still excited.

I completely agree. I feel like there are very few true "concept albums" as it is generally defined and I don't think it necessarily makes them any better, it just can add to the experience I guess.

Yeah for sure. I was so underwhelmed when the UV cover came out. I remember thinking "THIS CANNOT BE THE COVER" but now I love it and it's flawless. I love that it's kinda unexpected. Like it's so easy for Lana to take a gorgeous picture with beautiful flowers or whatever, but she went for something a little less obvious. I also love the new font.

I agree. UV's sound was super mature and surprising for a lot of people. I can imagine Honeymoon being received less well if it doesn't end up moving in an "edgier" or unexpected direction. That being said, I think the music has been great so far, and somewhat different for her. I guess I would just say that I'd be shocked if it did critically worse than BTD and pleasantly surprised if it did better than UV.

I really feel like it will be. She talked about it in December (I think) and March, and seemed really excited about the idea and the visual. Obviously things can change (especially with Lana) but I feel optimistic about it.

I'd say it's absolutely 100% the release date - why announce a new single over a month in advance?

I know this doesn't mean anything and Lana is so unpredictable BUT last year the official tracklist came out a day after the WC video dropped. And the album cover came the day after that.

I think that while it's simple, it's also beautiful and weird. Also that shot by the window with the helicopter and the wind...

I personally think Pitchfork will like the album. I don't it'll get in the 8's or 9's, but maybe a solid 7.5. UV has gotten pretty universal acclaim so far, even from people who hated BTD.
