  1. Lana from Nylon: "I base the entire record on one song" = Black Beauty. Black Beauty is undoubtedly a 2013 track. Since the three are from December 2012, yes they could be new songs but I don't think they are for the new record. Seems like Rick uploaded them just to say "I produced these" and add them to his portfolio.

Starry Eyed seems to have looped verses and SE/Hollywood/JFK do not seem as polished as AFFA. I know Black Beauty still sounds like an electronic demo so any of those songs could be reworked for the new record.

I wonder what a stripped down version of Hollywood would sound like....:)

  2. I was going through a rough patch, a really shitty patch, and her music really was healing to listen to.

I heard Video Games, and then listened to the Born To Die + Paradise album repeatedly. It was really refreshing to listen to someone actually pour emotion into a song, it felt like there was meaning when I listened. Her voice speaks right to you.

It wasn't until much later that I started researching more about her.

  3. You could? :brows3:

    Ok you're right, im wrong.

Lana said that usually she writes the whole album around one world or specific sound. Like In Born To Die she wanted a dark cinematic sound mixed up with heavy hip-hop beats, that's why songs like KOL and DICWB didn't make it for example. So it's right to assume based on her previous works that songs like Hollywood and JFK weren't intended for a new album, because lyrically and *sonically* they're far away from "spiritual and stripped down" ( how she defined her new songs). But again, the only thing we know for sure is BB

I can agree with that, but like I said, just because she isn't (might not) be using them right now, doesn't mean it won't fit a future project.

This is possibly the most made thread on these forums, how many have we had for just this subject exactly? :troll:

    Sorry, new here.

  4. I feel like people are really digging deep into "what sounds the same" to determine what songs were meant for an album.

I could make arguments for either side. I could argue that Angels Forever sounds like Dark Paradise, based on the composition.

I have to say that I agree with evilentity on the "receipts" debate. There is always an opportunity to create something new, that doesn't quite fit your project at the time...

  5. Black Beauty, Starry Eyed & Hollywood. They all have the same style and they were all on Rick's site together. I'd like the new album to sound like this, it sounds like a natural progression from Born to Die and Paradise. I hope she doesn't put them on the record though and records new songs. I like these but having three out of probably 12/13 songs like half a year to a year before the release makes the new record a lot less exciting.

I really really like "Hollywood" ....I almost get the "Born to die----> album name" feeling from that song.

  6. Out of all of the (more recent) leaks, which songs do you think were intended for the next album?

We already know that Lana intended for "Black Beauty" to be on the album, but if you had to pick other ones, which would they be?

Maybe start the list like this...

    1. Black Beauty
    2.
    3.
    4.
    5.
    6.
    7.

    8.

    9.

    10.

(Doesn't have to be 10, just a set number, you can go above or below!)

After finally being able to find and listen to all of Lana's leaked demos/music, this was just a thought that came to mind!

  7. Thank you, thank you ! Happy to see you're enjoying it ! Means a lot seeing your comment

    Thank me? Thank you! lmao!

I downloaded all of your music from that website (awesome, by the way), and I would just like to throw in that you are legendary for giving us that version of "Heart Shaped Box" live. I cannot get enough of that, literally cant.

Oh and I think i posted about your "Hundred Dollar Bills" remix earlier in thread......but i'll tell you again how amazing it is.

Every time I hear the Jay-Z lyric drop its just like Im done, I cant.

  8. Katy Perry thread, yepp! Please move it! :lmao:

If everybody would think like that   we would have millions of threads here including the same old stuff members have talked about before. :defeated: No need that one song gets its own topic.

    :O ......

    Ok wont happen again.

  9. Made the title more specific. But to LanaBoards: should this be in the KP thread? Or do you like single release discussions? !!!?

Anyway I liked it for approx. a day but it didn't move mountains for me.

In my opinion this needs to be its own thread :)

    ...BECAUSE!....

This is so different from what we have seen from her, I feel like it should foster comparison discussions.

Also, I really want to see what people think about Katy Perry's "singing" on this song in particular, because she hasn't "sung" a song like this before

  10. She eat your heart out

    Like Jeffrey Dahmer

    lel

not rly my thing :/ i didn't like roar either so i don't think this album is going to be for me

I actually wasn't a "HUGE" fan of Roar either, but I understand why other people like it.

She is releasing "Walking on Air" on September 30th, so we'll see what that brings.

  11. Ok you guys, lets talk Dark Horse (feat. Juicy J) by Katy Perry

What do you guys think about Katy's latest release?

I liked this song when she debuted the 30-second snippet, and I was excited to hear the full thing. Now that i've heard the full thing, I have to say I could have went without Juicy J. Instead, Katy hitting some high notes and a few cool runs in a different octave would have been a better fit for that part of the song.

    But....

I guess Juicy J's part could have been WAY WORSE, so i'll live.

I've been waiting for Katy to go in a darker direction with her music, and I appreciate the direction she went on this song.

.....and you gotta love a good trap beat.

    "Dark Horse"
    (feat. Juicy J)
    lyrics
    .....

    I knew you were
You were gonna come to me
    And here you are
    But you better choose carefully
    ‘Cause I’m capable of anything
    Of anything and everything

    Make me your Aphrodite
Make me your one and only
Don’t make me your enemy, your enemy, your enemy

So you wanna play with magic
Boy, you should know whatcha falling for
Baby do you dare to do this
Cause I’m coming atcha like a dark horse
Are you ready for, ready for
    A perfect storm, perfect storm
Cause once you’re mine, once you’re mine
    There’s no going back

    Mark my words
This love will make you levitate
    Like a bird
Like a bird without a cage
    But down to earth
If you choose to walk away, don’t walk away

It’s in the palm of your hand now baby
It’s a yes or no, no maybe
So just be sure before you give it up to me
Up to me, give it up to me

So you wanna play with magic
Boy, you should know whatcha falling for
Baby do you dare to do this
Cause I’m coming atcha like a dark horse
Are you ready for, ready for
    A perfect storm, perfect storm
Cause once you’re mine, once you’re mine
    There’s no going back

    [Juicy J - Rap Verse]
    She’s a beast
    I call her Karma
    She eat your heart out
    Like Jeffrey Dahmer
    Be careful
Try not to lead her on
    Shawty’s heart was on steroids
Cause her love was so strong
    You may fall in love
    When you meet her
If you get the chance you better keep her
She swears by it but if you break her heart
She turn cold as a freezer
That fairy tale ending with a knight in shining armor
She can be my Sleeping Beauty
I’m gon’ put her in a coma
    Woo!
Damn I think I love her
    Shawty so bad
    I’m sprung and I don’t care
She got me like a roller coaster
Turn the bedroom into a fair
Her love is like a drug
I was tryna hit it and quit it
    But lil’mama so dope
I messed around and got addicted

So you wanna play with magic
Boy, you should know whatcha falling for
Baby do you dare to do this
Cause I’m coming atcha like a dark horse
Are you ready for, ready for
    A perfect storm, perfect storm
Cause once you’re mine, once you’re mine
    There’s no going back

  12. Hollywood definitely has a special place in my heart.
.....there have been many days where this is on replay with the bass turned up.

The lyrics really give me that "fantasy" feeling, and I really like that. Also, the way Lana sings this song really brings the lyrics to life.

The imagery I see in my head is also that of a 1960's fantasy. So I guess I see a Lana music video in my head!

    My favorite part is definitely....

    Oh, oh
    C-can you see me
    Oh, oh
    My heart beating fast
I can feel it chasing in the speedlights
    I was built to last

    Oh, oh,
    C-can you feel that
    My heart shaking fast
    I can feel that
    You're the one for me
    You'll be my first
    You'll be my last

  13. Gods and Monsters is in my top 5 favorite Lana Del Rey songs.

I really like the idea behind the song, and it has some of my favorite lines from her.

Fame, Liquor, Love give it to me slowly

Me and God, we don't get along so now I sing

    Cause life imitates art
