  1. :smokes3:

I agree, i wish we had a video to this interview. I feel like being able to see her face when she is answering the questions would give us a hint if she is telling the truth or not.

Now, back to the original hacking topic, do we know what else was taken from her computer exactly? It sounds like there were things taken that were a lot more important than just the 211 songs. I wonder ....

  2. I dont even know where to start :smokes3:

In terms of emotion and rawness....UV takes the cake. End of story. I think you're sonically confused if you think that BTD has more emotional variety than UV.

Yes, BTD has more of the main-stream beats at times, and one of the main appeals of that album is that it had that fresh sound with such alternative vocals and lyrics. UV on the other hand is so perfectly dark. It is dark everywhere from the instrumentals to the lyrics.

Comparing any two sounds from the different records is ridiculous. Yes, they are BOTH good. But please do not waste your time comparing the likes of Diet Mtn Dew with Sad Girl. It's too different worlds.

One thing that does bother me is that people are basing their opinions of UV on how BTD sounds. Think about it like this, if you continuously have the same sound on every record--people will get bored with you. UV is such a departure that any comparisons are just unjust.

    BTD= still a label-influenced album (let's be real)

UV= Lana getting her way and having the most stripped-back sound the label will allow.

  3. On my 4th listen through....so more will grow on me i'm sure.......but i think the album is pretty great minus a couple slumps...

    1. Cruel World

Good opener for the album, good taste of whats to come, it sets the mood well. Not sure it needs to be over 6 minutes long but i really like it. Reminds me of being at Woodstock high on weed.

    2. Ultraviolence

Its catchy, i like it, but i don't love it. Obvious single though, one of only a couple songs i could hear played on radio.

    3. Shades of Cool

Nice track, need to be in the mood for it, but when i am i like it. The guitar solo is amazing.

    4. Brooklyn Baby

Amazing, love the haunting verses and Barries addition at the end is perfect.

    5. West Coast

I love it. Did from day one. Now that i've heard the whole album i can see why it was chosen as the first single, it's a bit of everything from the album sound wise.

    6. Sad Girl

I like it, it will grow on me more i'm sure but i enjoy it so far. Makes me want to take up smoking.

    7. Pretty When You Cry

Amazing, love this so much, a favourite from the album, again the guitar is everything.

    8. Money Power Glory

Pretty good, will end up loving it i'm sure, single maybe???

    9. Fucked My Way To The Top

Very catchy, love the chorus and bridge.

    10. Old Money

So, so beautiful, very cinematic, love the vocals and stripped production. I love it.

    11. The Other Woman

Reminds me so much of old skool 50's music, very Twin Peaks, the production is great on it, feels authentic, but its very much a mood song, really can;t see myself playing this outside of when i play the album in full, but its cool for what it is, Grandmas will love it, it will remind them of their dead husbands and stuff. I do think Black Beauty should have closed the album and this should have been a bonus.

    12. Black Beauty

Stunning. Loved the demo, love the album version even more, it's really a gorgeous song, cant believe it didn't make the standard track listing.

    13. Guns and Roses

I think i need to hear it more to make a proper opinion. Its pretty average though, flat chorus, but i like the verses and i love the drum beat and last portion of the album, its ends well. Needs more time but i think it will grow on me.

    14. Florida Kilos

no.not on this album Lana. its kinda cute. but no.

I really like everything you said here, and i agree with a lot of it.

Sad Girl makes me want to smoke cigarettes while sitting in a huge japanese garden. The kind you only see in the movies.

  4. Ok here we go. Im about to dive in :smokes3:

My favorites right now are Old Money, FMWUTTT, Florida Kilos, Old Money, Sad Girl and Black Beauty.

Sad Girl: In my opinion, this song has the best intro of any song on the album. The beginning is so melodic and definitely sets a mood. It makes me feel like i'm sitting in amazing garden.

Fucked My Way Up To The Top: I think just the title and chorus speak for itself. It doesn't have my favorite bridge of any song on the album, but what it does have is the ability to make you feel "bad." In a good way.

Florida Kilos: Wow. This is Lana giving us a song straight from the Lizzy Grant playbook. It is the only up-tempo song (aside from West Coast and its respective radio edit) on the album, and I feel like lyrically its one of the best. The tone of Lana's voice in this song also sets it apart from the rest.

Old Money: This song is giving me Gatsby sadcore to the fullest. Definitely single-worthy, and I think Lana's vocal performance really drives this one home.

Black Beauty: My favorite "leak" of all time, and I think the new production does the song absolute justice. It wasn't overdone (which I was really afraid of), and it definitely has a 'live' feeling to it. In my opinion, the new production reduced the monotony of the song. Lyrically, this song really delivers.

Not too say I don't like the other songs on the album, because I DEFINITELY do, these are just the ones that I find myself listening to more than the others.

I recommend for everyone, who hasn't already, to listen to this album all the way through in the intended order. It is really cool.

  5. everything is so slow :/ i don't understand why she is going in this direction when her best songs are upbeat. could have thrown a couple in there to break up the monotony at least. maybe some will have tempo changes.

Judging by the West Coast tempo change, I think there will be at least a few more.

    Leaked Music:

    Sticks And Stones: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YH9ki_UMvAA

    Tell Me: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-KwpShqYIeg

    Other:

Will Heard & Cara Delevingne - 'Sonnentanz' (Sun Don't Shine):

I am personally a big fan of Cara, and I hope that more music gets leaked in the future! Sticks And Stones is a really good demo in my opinion.

I don't know if a lot of you know this (i'll try and find the article), but she actually was going to be a musician before she was a model. She was working on a record when her modeling career took off so the entire project was shelved. Sticks And Stones and Tell Me are the only demos we have from the project.

  7. I think everyone just needs to relax a little :smokes3:

I don't find her doing this wedding song distasteful or a sell-out thing to do at all. If someone told you that one of your songs was special enough to be their wedding song, wouldn't that resonate with you? I feel like after turning down the proposal performance and then being asked again to do the wedding, Lana probably realized that this means a lot to them.

Cheers to Lana for doing this for people who are a fan of her music.
