    Lorde

i looove lorde she's my favorite next to lana, i have all her released music. i think my favorite is bravado "i've been fighting off every little thing that i thought was out to get me down, to trip me up and laugh at me" some of her songs have weird lyrics tbh but i don't care she's great
  2. i think, visually, it's beautiful (excluding a lot of the gods and monsters part, some of that was a little too much for me). most of it is undeniably very pretty. how great the rest of it is is arguable. i can see how a lot of people wouldn't enjoy it. tropico does not fit everyone's taste -- then again, neither does lana's music. i liked the poetry she recited, although i didn't know the authors and stuff while watching it but i just looked up the poems and i plan on watching tropico again later now that i have more insight. i think it was a beautiful and meaningful film although there are some things i would have done differently, such as some of the g&m scenes and i wish there had been more dialogue. but overall i definitely think lana achieved her goal.
  3. yea i didn't like summer wine either, i'm not a huge fan of features in general, i rarely ever like them. i remember the first time i heard summer wine, i was really liking it then barrie came on and i immediately shut it off. nothing against him -- i just don't like features. i listened to it again afterwards but i don't think i even finished the whole thing, just not for me
  4. the website looks reliable because it looks like any other website but i don't think it is. it comes off as trustworthy but we don't really have a reason to believe it. it's just a list, there's no sources or anything, just a list of albums. when she announced UV at the tropico premiere, it sounded like we were going to get it pretty quickly, but then again tropico itself took quite a while, to say at the least. however, a short film is much different than an album, so we could easily not have to wait as long for UV as we did for tropico. tropico was obviously her first film and UV is obviously not her first album -- although we can't totally rule out a long wait, you never know. it's possible we could get the album as early as march but i don't think that article makes it safe to say so for sure. we can almost entirely disregard it because of the length of the list under march 18, it's really not realistic. the website provides no sources or proof that any of those release dates for any of those albums are confirmed. i guess we can keep that date in the back of our minds but we shouldn't go around saying we know when the album's releasing. maybe we should hold onto it, wait till january, and see if the albums listed under january 7 and 14 release on those days.
  5. exactly. if the biggest "flop" is topping the charts then the second biggest is an accomplishment
  6. this was only posted last night and i'm already super excited for next week's! don't know if i can wait ahh
  7. if this list were based on just the outfits they're wearing in those pictures, lana deserves first place, hands down. that dress is SO stunning. i don't think anybody else looks good except taylor (who i do NOT like but i'm not gonna pretend that dress isn't pretty). also i love selena sooo much and i do think she deserves a place on this list but not with that particular dress. they could have used a better example. as for rihanna and beyonce -- i really like rihanna as a person but i don't listen to her. and her clothes, especially the outfit in that picture... no words and i just don't follow beyonce. i don't listen to any of her songs and i know like nothing about her. other outfits of hers don't come to mind but if they're all like that one, she shouldn't be on the list imo
  8. anybody have any idea if there's a chance of touring in the US?
  9. this is making me rethink my previous comment -- i don't think the relationship in this song is as happy and stable as i thought before. i kind of overlooked the whole "you're the boss" thing. it really does sound regretful when she says it at the end. if it weren't for that one line, this song would seem more like a carefree and happy love song. the way she sings "because you're the boss" at the very end makes me feel like it's almost a cry for help, like everyone thinks they're so happy and in love but secretly she wants out. i could be overthinking it like maybe it is just a line but that's what i was kind of getting from it after listening again.
  10. i didn't think about that -- it would be cool to use a film like this as a teaser for an upcoming album. i would love to hear some songs that will definitely make it on to UV. at the same time, i really do like the idea of using tropico to visually close her chapter. i love the idea of opening a new chapter of her career using a film because then we would get new songs, but at the same time using it as closure feels more right to me -- this is just my personal preference though. the teaser idea would probably get more views.
  11. i can't even take this seriously, seeing as the #1 "flop" was artpop, which numbers can easily prove was successful. i don't think lana intended to create some incredibly successful and world famous piece -- i think she succeeded in what she was trying to do. tropico is clearly not supposed to be a film that everybody will enjoy, you either love it or you don't. also, i personally liked the songs she used. just because they aren't the newest, doesn't mean they don't fit the film. i think all her fans can at least appreciate what she was trying to do with tropico even if they didn't particularly enjoy watching it (i did, though). just like lana's music, tropico is a piece of art that will not be enjoyed by everybody, but should be respected by everybody. tropico was by no means a "flop." lana's happy with it and so am i.
  12. i definitely thought of never let me go when i listened to this song but this one does seem happier. i feel like this song is about a more stable relationship where they're having fun and it's light and happy whereas nlmg deals with a less stable relationship where she needs confirmation that he'll stay with her. oow seems more like they were in a rougher place before but now they're good and happy, compared to nlmg where she's worried things could be going downhill. but i love the instrumental of both songs a lot
  13. if black beauty doesn't make it onto ultraviolence i don't know what i'll do. i like how much focus is on the words because of the lack of lyrics - the first song similar to this that comes to my mind is kill kill. and her voice in the song is just oh my god i do hope there are more upbeat tracks on the album though
  14. i love lorde but i'm rooting for lana all the way!
