There's absolutely no way in hell she's going be able to perform in pounds of makeup and prosthetic for 1.5 hours every night under the hot lights... I'm wondering if they developed a live show variation of the look for versatility onstage... but i'm also cacklling at the idea of one of the big eye balls falling off her face or one of the elf ears ripping in half on stage sdfjkndnKSJD

It may be veering a little too Bella Poarch/Suburban for me at this stage in Melanie's career, however the production in the drop sounds really good ngl

It took me a bit, but i'm really vibing with "The Void". and i think the production sounds really cool actually... Almost a little Stained Glass by Madison/Tame Impala influence? If anyone was curious, Melanie produced the first demo of Emerald herself... which is why it sounds a bit rougher than the others. it's just a country pop loop ala Kacey musgraves and raw vocals, that K&OL reproduced. I think she produced a couple other rough demos that never made it to the internet... Moon Cycle maybe? Don't shoot me if im wrong. Anyways, what im trying to say is Melanie has already shown a lot of growth as a producer if you compare the demo of Emerald to "The Void" snippet, and we should be supportive of ha I always felt like Needle & Thread sounded like something Melanie would choose for a closing track. It has a sort of "resolution" vibe. Maybe there's still hope?

The developing snippet sounds so beautiful to me. But also faerie soiree 2.0 because of that vid of Mel dancing to it in her home studio

VERY interested to see how Mel plans to bring this whole look and direction to the stage.. Hopefully not with 7 dancers and an inaudible harp player

Just came to mind on the topic of the snippets, for those saying they're too slow/boring... Don't forget melanie picks the weirdest sections to tease. Remember the principal snippet everyone thought was lame? It was the outro.

idk i'm not hearing it.. to me, the ending of Fingers Crossed always sounded like a dreamy voice memo they recorded somewhere in Hawaii

giving my 2 cents on this because as we're upon a new era, looking back on Melanie's existing catalogue, I think it's fair to say some songs do not hold up as well as they used to... like at all 2013: Birthing Addicts the almost James Bond production is so cool Curly Cue CB: Training Wheels Pacify Her Mrs. Potato Head Mad Hatter Cake K-12: Teacher's Pet Fire Drill nothing else really stands out to me on this album these days, the production was dated by 2 years as soon as it dropped and almost every song has some god awful lyric... AS: i've honestly always thought of this EP to be on a lower par than a lot of her material idk.. Numbers Test Me The Bakery Glued (ACOUSTIC VERSION..) Unreleased: Haunted 99 Cent Store (Non kazoo version) Cooties Ring Pop Night Mime (pitch version with filtered chorus vocal from demo version) Band Aid its a serve to me idk bout y'all Void Garden Tunnel Vision Sirens Death Dragon's Blood Needle & Thread Fingers Crossed i'm probably missing a few here and there. Definitely feel that Cry Baby holds up better than K-12 so i'd give the pass on a lot more of those songs in general

I know this is like 7 years too late, but Melanie really should've went to the Carly Rae Jepsen school of releasing your outtakes. Imagine Cry Baby's Extra Clutter: Side B on Gingerbread Cookie Vinyl. (dont even ask what that would look like on a pressing) 13 unreleased tracks

True, the mixing and mastering will add clarity and dynamic to the song. But I believe Faerie Soiree (and possibly a couple of the leaks) were further developed, hence the whole new part we've never heard. Regarding the early PORTALS sessions we have, I believe only Tunnel Vision, Fingers Crossed, Sirens, Needle, Dragons blood, and Garden were the only ones past "v1". The rest were rough ideas (Barely Juice, Jinx, Magnets) or just really good first versions (like Void, what a smash for a demo). There's probably months of work that wasn't stolen in the K&OL breach. Reminder what was leaked represents roughly Melanie's early work on the album October 2020 - April 2021 and her songwriting trips to Hawaii. The batch of songs didnt start leaking until November '21. Maybe theres a chunk of time in the middle where songs & new versions that were never stolen were made.
