It's also the worst album to expect people to understand on first listen, which is why I hope the genius behind the reviewer's 'listening party' in the UK gets sent back to business school by the label.

Yeah, that was a horrifying move from her team. Listening to a new Lana album in a room full of strangers? Allowing people to leave while the album is playing? And playing the album once over a boombox

    Beyond cringe.

  2. y'all, is A&W laced with CRACK?

Ask me a month ago and I would have said I prefer the title track over it. But still, after hundreds of plays, once the album was released in full, the song blossomed even further for me and now I can't stop playing A&W on repeat, a month and a half after we first heard it. :thumb3:  Truly the Venice Bitch of this album and a career highlight. Why does Lana's music do this for me? I'm obsessed.

You can email Metacritic to add reviews or remove them.

I wish this were true, but it isn't. I emailed them yesterday about Sputnik and The Quietus. I know a few others emailed about Sputnik, too. The 50 was still added and the other reviews were still left out - they don't care.

That said, if y'all haven't emailed Metacritic about The Quietus and Record Collector reviews, feel free to do so, because it's stupid. editorial@metacritic.com

81/100 now with that fucking sputnik review, the way they count this clownery but NOT the Record Collector (which is also available on MC) is not sitting rite w me.

Why cant we win for once? :oprah2: (I wonder if there's any case that Metacritic would remove a score late on tho, do we need to keep emailing to notify them that Sputnik merit is A JOKE?)

I'm just happy it only dropped 1 point. 5/10 is a bad score and Sputnik always tries to sabotage her for engagement. I don't understand why the Record Collector review hasn't been added. At this point I'm content with an 81. It's still a great score, but it's interesting how so many pop girls get into the mid-upper 80s so easily nowadays and Lana had to fight to even get to 82 with this brilliant album.

  5. They're literally just adding fuel to the fire by their comments. This is what I'm sending -- feel free to use it. I feel like shorter = better, usually.

    "Hi there,

Reaching out because I have concerns regarding the merit of Sputnik Music when it comes to Lana Del Rey.

The same Staff reviewer has repeatedly volunteered to review Lana's albums even though he clearly does not like her, and has a pattern of reviewing her albums a week after release, giving them low scores (30, 50) to seemingly lower her Metacritic score.

One of the first replies to his review was another Contributor to the site, stating 'Brace yourselves, Twitter is coming'. Additionally, in the replies to the review, they mocked a fan on Twitter who shared a User Review (80), stating "Wait 'til they find out [User's] review doesn't count, but [Staff's] does."  This frames their review as a joke, or a ploy for attention/engagement more than anything.

There seems to be obvious bias at play here, and it only felt right to point it out. Thanks for taking the time to read this and considering our concerns.

    Let's fucking do this.

Do we have any template to copy/paste tho? :bebe:

I haven't written mine yet but I'm all for sending an email if y'all want to.

This is basically a draft of what I was thinking - we can add/edit as needed:

We can go from there, though.

  7. It's frustrating because the album deserves higher than an 81 or whatever it ends up with on MC because of biased critics who clearly don't like her volunteering to review her work. She was guaranteed a low score on their site out of the gate. And other positive reviews, like the 100 from Gigwise or the rave review from The Quietus don't even count.

In the long run, you're right, it really doesn't matter at all. It's more a frustration w/ sites like Sputnik having "merit" on MC when it's just a forum full of incel neckbeards who hate Lana (and seemingly most female artists).

One of the replies from another reviewer is "Brace yourselves, Twitter is coming", which just shows they're doing this for attention. It has nothing to do w/ the quality of the music. It just bugs me. If the site didn't count on aggregate sites I wouldn't care at all.

The way that this site also gave Taylor Swift a 48/100 for Midnights is pure misogynistic.

We can only pray for 2 or 3 100/100 scores to pull this album to at least 85/100, but it seems like a wishful thinking rn, hopefully by the end of this release week, we get more positive reviews to cleanse this mess by these fuckfaces who are trying to sabotage her portfolio.

I think we're pretty much done after this, which is why that same reviewer waited. He did the same thing w/ Chemtrails to lower the score.
