Say what you want, but this is definitely her most uncompromising album yet. There's no Doin' Time, no obvious singles... It's raw, loose, folky, and perhaps not as focused as NFR!, but it has its own vibe. Definitely her most "Lizzy" album yet. And I love it very much. I'm very pleased with it. So happy she & Jack built off of the sound of the Violet instrumentals.

White Dress is my favorite. It's so fucking raw. I cried on my first listen. You can really feel her pain in it. But I love how loose and... searching the album feels. It sounds like Lana trying to put her anchor down somewhere but not being able to, and dealing with the frustration of that.

OK, Breaking Up Slowly/Dance Til We Die/For Free is a really cute way to end the album. She's deeply reflective on this album, and seems almost resigned to not being able to find lasting love... so she finds comfort in her friends and community. Jack's production is still as good as ever. But this may be a little too left-field and singer-songwriter for the BTD twinks, which is amazing for me.

$66 US from Germany for a signed litho? Nah, I'm good. I have the signed art card cassette bundle thing coming anyway.

I ordered the horse one, but now im considering like completing the trio...is it worth it? do yall think the picture discs will be really rare in the long run?
I've been debating that, too. The only album merch I'm missing is the standard picture disc, the black vinyl, and the first 2 cassettes, but I'm more inclined to get the picture disc than the others. The black vinyl will never go out of print, anyway, and I don't use cassettes. I wish she'd make the Cassette 3 picture the last picture disc, though.

Maybe she's just letting the music speak for itself this time around (which is probably for the best after the title track launch). No more interviews or performances this era. We'll see. It'll be interesting if we get nothing before the reviews come out.

So she posts some guy bathing in refried beans, but nothing since January about the album out in ten days. Vibe.

I can’t believe she still hasn’t said/posted anything about the album this month. We’re a week in.
I mean, she technically hasn’t mentioned the album since January 11. But this is release month. I’m not insinuating anything by this, I’m just lol-ing a bit.

Facts. She wouldn't release it if she didn't feel it was ready. That's part of why we get so many of her albums later than expected, anyway. She's always tampering and editing, and takes forever on mixing.

I agree. I love that everything evaporates into nothing but spacy, jazzy drums for a full minute. I know a lot of people don't agree, but it's so atmospheric and relaxing to me. It's going to sound so good leading into TJF.

I genuinely think Honeymoon & Bel Air (+ Ride) are her best music videos.
She had balls for releasing Honeymoon as the first song from that album, then making it track 1. She really did not give one fuck.

in my opinion, i wouldn’t have. yosemite is a song that we’ve been wanting to hear for like half a decade now. I NEED TO HEAR THAT SONG
It seems like Yosemite will fit the album better sonically, but Dealer would fit her headspace better mentally. If that makes sense.I mean, in the end it was her choice and she chose Yosemite over Dealer for this album, so I’ll trust her.

Wait, so did she change the album between last summer & now? I don't think so, right?
If she didn't, like I thought was the case, I'm happy because I think that's what made Lust For Life feel so ... varied, or not cohesive. In updating the album with last minute additions/subtractions it felt like she was aiming for two different albums/styles in one. I'd still like for her to elaborate (more articulately, lol) on what makes her so uncomfortable about COCC, but I think it's a good sign more than anything. I'm excited for all of us to hear the album in full to really understand what the album is serving us. -
Respectfully, I don't think most Lana fans speak/read Japanese, so I'm not sure any of this is that deep. It's just nice to have a limited collectible from this era. I own another artist's vinyl (Yaeji) that came with a limited OBI and it looks really nice, even if it's just decorative.
Assai was clearly in partnership with Polydor for this, so it's real and authorized, even if the language is incorrect. People are buying it because it's a unique, hand-numbered collectible variant, not because they want to learn how to read the phrase "Chemtrails Over the Country Club" in Japanese off of it.

Also loving the slight Velvet Underground/Lou Reed vibes on Not All Who Wander Are Lost.
