Makes me think of Goodbye cruel world by Pink Floyd.

I can't even watch the West Coast review. Just another sorry Anti-Lana Gaga Stan worried Gagz will get booed off in Williamsburg again.

Also, did anyone else get a sense that there's a disconnection between Lana and some of her past themes besides the drinkin' lyric?

Like when she mentions the queens of Saigons and the groupies, she's no longer identifying herself with that, she's an outsider to the West Coast subculture, and yeah, she's curious about it all still, but she's so sucked into this free-bird, Cuban sweet-boy. Sure, they could be out doing what everyone in the West Coast is, but they're having their fun elsewhere.

I don't know, if that's how she meant to deliver some of those elements, I'd say that's a pretty big deal in the case of evolving artistically.

I think Lana might be shelving the string's that permeated her previous albums. I love the strings, but if Lana goes more rock/guitar oriented on this album I will be soooo psyched!

I like it. I'm not in love with it. The only reason I'm listening to it on repeat is because it's an official single.

I do like the direction she's going. It's definitely not stripped-back as I expected. I always enjoyed her more rock-oriented demos/songs, so I'm really loving the guitar and the tempo change. I just wish her vocals were less filtered and there was more, I don't know, space between the arrangement. The lyrics are nothing to write home about, no matter how deep some people are going to make them out to be. However, I didn't like a lot of the tracks of Born to Die and Paradise, but after some time, some of those tracks became my favorites, so who knows, in the near future I might come back to this and love it.

I think one of the main reasons she's changing the sound is to appeal to a much older crowd. I don't know if it's radio-friendly and it probably won't last long on the iTunes charts. And I'm worried that some critics will think she's trying to hard with it. Which, admittedly, I kind of think so. Anyway, it's only a snapshot of the album so I'm not going to judge it. I'm just happy that the new era has started. Really looking forward to the music video.

Wow. It's definitely a song you want/have to listen again and again.

He looks like Joe Dallesandro here. And Lana is pure beauty, man...

Lana Del Rey completely submerges herself in the ocean while wearing a white t-shirt during her video shoot on Thursday (April 3) in Los Angeles.
The 27-year-old entertainer’s bra completely showed through her shirt as she filmed with some males on the beach.

That same day, Lana reportedly revealed the name of her latest single on her Twitter account.
“West Coast” Lana posted, along with a picture.

    My timeline:

    K: 1999-2004, 2004 spent in Alabama
Van Wilson: A&R 5 points, 2006 met him at the WLSC 2006, probably a short fling.
Jimmy G: 2007/2008. I think it was also platonic, and more driven from Lana's side. Probably covered the period she was at the trailer park in NJ
Mike M: Met him first for the interview at Arlene's Grocery in February 2009. With him for 2009, and early 2010 (dated by tweets), but I guess he did not want her to pursue her music anymore, and they broke up (lyrics of Afraid really encapsulate their break-up). The guy rebounded quickly to the woman he got married to in October 2010. I think many of her songs deal with this relationship and the break-up.

Reeve Carney, can't place him in the timeline, maybe 2008 after JG.

I don't think Lana has had many relationships. She has said in multiple interviews that in real life she is very quiet, lonely, does not talk much, and therefore continues to feel very strongly about her main relationships (K and MM), because few people really understand her. I think the rings she wears is significant, particularly the one that covers both fingers, because I guess that indicates her eternal feelings for two men. I just hope she can move on at some point, and find someone (I hate thinking of her lonely and alone), although any boyfriend would have to learn to live with the ghosts of two people in the room, K and MM.

Welcome to LANALYSIS, where we get real unhealthy in our obsessions and absolutely revel in it.

This is a project I've been maintaining for a while now--Lana + Analysis...get it? The basic purpose is to relate every one of her songs (that's right, every last one of them) to her known and assumed relationships. Not a stone is left unturned. Privacy is violated. The fans rejoice. Mind you, it’s all pure speculation, but ~this is what makes us stans~

It’s pretty long but an interesting read, if I do say so myself. I hope you enjoy it in all it’s updated glory, and I will continue to update as new information is revealed and new songs come out. I will also be adding pictures, sources, etc. Stay tuned!

    Let’s get started!

    EARLY RELATIONSHIPS (1985 - ~2005)

    LOCAL ROCKSTARS (~2005 - 2009)

YOU MADE ME NICE FOR A WHILE (2009 - 2011)

    POST-BREAKTHROUGH (2011+)

    IN THE LAND OF DISCREPANCIES

    ADVANCED LANALYSIS

    IN SUMMARY..

    Lingering questions…
    - Who the fuck is K?
    - Who the fuck is Ray?
    - Who the fuck is Bill? Is Bill really K? Does Bill matter at all?
    - What significance do cars play? She mentions eight in total (white Corvette, white Pontiac, blue Chevy Nova/Chevrolet, Cadillac convertible, Mercedes, pickup truck, Lamborghini, Bugatti Veyron)
    - When was she/who was she with in New York City and New Jersey? Ditto LA? Most mysterious and pressing, her time in the South?
    - Did she have a fling with Bradley Soileau?
    - Did Chris C. matter enough to her for her to write songs about him?

    Assumptions Made:
    - Lana was a gogo dancer.
    - K is a drug dealer/murderer, dead or on death row.
    - Jimmy is her ex-fiancé, addicted to cocaine despite a Wikipedia page stressing how healthy he is, associated with Chevrolets.
    - Much of Sirens is about completely different relationships.
    - She fucked Bradley.
    - Mike controlled her career but their relationship wasn’t associated with anything fucked up like drugs or stripping.

Thanks for reading! I crave both your feedback and theories! This remains a forum collaboration and I don't claim to have the final say on Lanalytical manners.

For the sake of believability, I'm always hunting receipts, and currently:
    - The interview where she refers to "Yayo" as the prequel to "Video Games"
    - The interview where she describes "Video Games" as dealing with mutual sobriety in a relationship--her and her partner both staying clean.
    - The interview where she talks about meeting her boyfriend in rehab and being dazzled by his small-scale celebrity.
