Actually, I FELT the same way. You can go ask the sistren on Atrl.net who got me banned because of my rant. Lol But I saw the light... Let it in sistren. Let it SINK in. Appreciates the imperfections of the album that's why it's so great. The vocal performance on this album is NOT POP whatsoever. They are not clean but they serve a purpose. The songs are SCATTERED with very awkward unusual melodies e.g Cruel World, Sad Girl, Pretty When You Cry, Brooklyn Baby (most of the album tbh) BTD is so clean and perfect... The melodies are beautiful but they are very "safe" and "typical" with punchy beat and hooky chorus. UV is like someone beat and punch BTD. Hhmmmmm how to express this properly: BTD: UV: If you let the light in (it's cruel world) you will be able to see thee BEAUTY in both.

I don't know but I don't trust WRITTEN interview that much about Lana. They tend to add something little extra to make everything DRAMATIC doom and gloom esp with Lana. I remember reading a transcript to a radio interview and then listening to the actual interview is like night and day lol

I love every song on the album (my hate for WC and SOC have subsided and I think they are great *album tracks) For me the 1 2 punch started with MPG... I mean Wooooooo She absolutely leave me breathless after the other women (this has to be her best vocal performance to date and it's one of my fav song from her ever.. An amazing amzing amazing cover) A PERFECT CLOSER of the alberm. I don't use any of deluxe tracks. And I think Florida kilos is WACK. And Guns and roses is her WORST song ever (a tuneless mess)... Surpassing Lolita with ease.

I love this album as the standard version. The deluxe needs to be deleted and BB needs to be replaced with the Demo. I'm sorry the new version is cute and all with drums but it devoids of any emotions from the demo. The demo version is so sad but in a delicate and beautiful way. The album version is very showy but with no substance. plus her voice blurred out with loud instrumentals which kinda pissed me off esp during the chorus.

No only a certain group of artists have Grammys. I don't take them that seriously, but the truth is the GP took them very seriously. Not all successful artists have Grammys. If you suck, you're not going to get a Grammy. Many flops have Grammys too as long as the Grammy committee favors them. Also, just because your album is acclaimed on some blog like rolling stone or pitchfork.,.... Doesn't mean you're going to get a Grammy. They are very much political for sure. They have to favor you.

You're right. Good marketing = Huge sales Good marketing + good album = Huge sales and acclaim. (Awards, the Grammys, etc the world take notice) Bad marketing + good album = acclaim from fans circle and nothing else (no awards and no one curr outside of her fans)

But she's been here for 25 years... And why should I care when she sold 200 million records? Lmao. Even if she sold 2 copies of her album it will not erase her achievements. Which are: - 18 number one hits (record) - the last person to have a live recording reach #1 on billboard hot 100 - two songs of the decade (record) - two longest running #1 hits (record) -and many many more.. There's like a huge list... But I don't want to spam this page. I just want her album. because when we like an artist we want them to be successful. It's not rocket science.

It's a blessing that she's BOTHER to make music. Anyway, The promo has been very lackluster. "Let Lana do what she wants with her own career" right let her flop the way she wants... Paradise leak: It started with the preview video she uploaded. Then I think a universal site posted more snippets and fans started snitching the snippets together. Lol That was a mess, low quality loop snippets leaked. After that, a girl on tumblr claiming to have the album but she lied. She got death threats from TeamLana. Lol that was another fiasco. I was so mad back then. It's kinda funny thinking about it now. Then came the leak with bionic in it... And several new tumblrs started popping up with fake leaks. There were also leaks with Kia my neck my back on it. Lmao. Then a week (or 5 days I think before release) tons of fans started searching share beast because apparently someone uploaded it under a different name. (Each person would search 100 - 200 pages of files) There were THOUSANDS of files to go through but with no success. Then came fake torrents and FINALLY a few days later some guy name Plan9 Leaked the album. (Happiest day of my life) ............................... UV has been a NON event so far at least for me.

I remember I was browsing tumblr casually then Dark Paradise popped up.. Took a listen... Bursted into tears. (I was just a causal listener back then) just imagine... Not a Stan crying to someone's music.. *the impact* I rushed to atrl and the album leaked. I cried so hard listening to the album for the first time I just couldn't believe such beautiful music existed. One song is better than the next. The songs just keep getting better after one end. It tuned me to an instant Stan.. Overnight... The magic of born to die. In fact, it tuned a lot of people into Stans. Every one on atrl at that time were shocked at how amazing the album is. I remember people (including me) couldn't eat or sleep because the insomnia caused by compulsively repeating the album for DAYS. And then came the reviews, everyone and their grandmother defended the album. We arranged a rating and group reviews to boost the user score on metacritic lol. Then came the charts (JUSTICE) BTD became the fastest selling album of 2012 at that point.

I don't think so, it's more of a production choice. They purposely made it sound like that that's why I can't wait to hear the demos of this album.

and who said that's a bad thing? But sometimes too much breathing between verses can be very distracting. (Not saying that Bb is like that just in general) It's personal preference that I prefer clean vocals. It's like I prefer pictures without the Instagram filters. Old Money and Money Power Glory are the only song with clean vocals. All the others have this vintage radio effect on them.
