Respectfully disagree; I don't feel like that's the reason for how she comes across in this article, but we can only speculate. It's difficult to gauge because as several people have said, interviews in which artists interview other artists tend to turn into bootlicking. Like, in much of it, she's talking herself up whilst simultaneously talking up Jack (eg: "we always know everything").

Yeah Lana went to some Liverpool FC games with Ben back in the day (soccer/football), but in this IG story they're talking about American football. Also her support of the Dodgers coincided with her dating Joe, I think - he was a baseball trainer or something. I think she probably has an interest in sports, but I don't see her as someone who's really invested.

They really couldn't come up with a better band name than "The Johnsons", huh ...

Am honestly scared to listen

Oh ffs. You just cannot handle people discussing things that you don't wish to discuss, and funnily enough, the number one thing you take issue with is people discussing her boyfriends. That's very interesting to me, because I've observed that a certain type of "fan" (for want of a better word) doesn't like people discussing them either, as it makes them feel threatened and like they have competition. You're totally okay with discussing everything else, including her homes, her cars, her medical history, you name it. DM me or don't, leave or don't, but stop acting like you're better than everyone else. Sorry to everyone else for the drama but ... I fucking can't. ETA: Honestly I only skimmed this when I wrote that ^ because who the fuck cares, but (again): I am not Russian, however, the generalisation here is disgusting. You are accusing Russian people in general of being homophobic and citing it as the reason for people on this forum disliking you? Get a grip.

Yeah I don't even understand that comment in the interview about raising "dogs, cats and chickens alone, and it's gonna be difficult" (not verbatim). She makes it sound like she will inevitably be alone, and I'm not sure why?
-
Yeah Ben supports ... I wanna say Liverpool FC. She even went to some matches with him and there are pics somewhere
-
I thought she was a football fan because of Ben
-
Don't be sorry, he just likes to dictate what people do and do not talk about.

PLEASE. I am not Russian. The point was that just because you live somewhere, or near somewhere, does not mean you know everything about everything. There is something really wrong with you that you feel the need to try to get back at me by pointing out the Sochi doping scandal and that Vladimir Putin is homophobic. Like seriously, fuck off, bro - even if I were Russian, that would have nothing to do with me. It has nothing to do with everyday Russian people. That's such a generalised, arsehole thing to say. (Sochi is way more than two hours drive out of Moscow, incidentally - it's approx. 1600km which is about 14 hours drive). Sort yourself out, bro. You look like a dick.

Remarkably, I do not care. I will continue to respond to whatever I please, and as long as I'm not breaking any rules, I have every right to do so. Like, you made this big status about how you were only being a dick because your friend passed away (and it's not that I'm not sympathetic, because that's very sad and I'm sorry that that happened) but now you're reverting back to exactly how you were - acting like you know everything about everything. I'm not here for it. Feel free to let Chris Gehringer know. ETA: Also when you first joined this forum you made a big song and dance about how you live in California, which is how you happened to know everything about everywhere she was, had been, was going, what the weather was like, places she was talking about, etc. And now, conveniently, you live in Las Vegas so you are automatically correct in the assertion that she should do a residency there? Cute. Moving on. This Clayton dude strikes me as a cross between Joe and Gerald, so I dunno, but I hope she's happy.

Yeahhhhh but Barrie is very happily with someone else rn, so ... I still feel like Larrie 2.0 might happen when they're like 50, and it'd be so cute, but not any time soon.

We need Lorde to do something because she hates Lorde and if Lorde would stop frolicking around New Zealand and actually release new music, Lala might feel competitive and start trying instead of having this idea that anything and everything she does is so effortlessly marvellous. The answer is Lorde.

It's not your business but you felt the need to wade in and let everyone know you were right about the thing that is not your business? Interesting. In reality nobody has any idea when that relationship ended and this one started, so ... you were not necessarily right. Bye. Anyway I ain't sayin' a word about this guy, because anyone is better than him

Also to whoever said Rick is a yes man: no he isn't, according to Lana herself. In a radio interview last year she said that she enjoyed working with Jack because it was nice to work with a producer who didn't tell her that things "suck". She picked Jack because he IS a yes man.

No, this goes way beyond "I think my work is good"; she's literally saying she's right about everything ... how to make music (fair), human existence and behaviour, relationships ... She makes the point several times that she has her finger on the pulse and implies that other minions do not, which is simply bullshit because any time she speaks on social issues, for example, it's a fucking disaster.

You are assuming that people who are saying she's egotistical would accept it in a man, and I can only speak for myself but no, I would not. I don't think it's okay for anyone, and I don't think it's inevitable, either. Furthermore, I think it's worrisome when an artist gets to this point, because their art tends to suffer, with few exceptions.
-
I hear you - it applies to me as well in that not all of my relationships have been/are great - but she said, "I actually don't see any value in [calling them out] - it's just true." So she's saying that she doesn't do it to try and resolve a situation, she simply wants to blame them because she thinks things are their fault. Not really constructive or healthy. "I'm having a bad day and it's your fault"? Telling other people that they are responsible for your unhappiness is yikes, especially when you're 35.

No, this superior attitude of hers is definitely new. I can never understand why people get soooo pressed when people criticise her. You actually can be both a fan AND critical of some of her words and actions. Props to the people who actually construct counter arguments instead of the blanket "u R a H8eR aNd I dOn'T lIKe iT" nonsense.

That isn't what anyone has said at all. It's the fact that she speaks as if she has a level of awareness about everything which eludes mere mortals. She's obviously very talented and successful, but this interview seems to be a prime example of letting it go to one's head.

Drags incoming but that's never stopped me before, so I'm not a huge fan of artists interviewing other artists because such interviews tend to turn into mutual backscratching, and I am not sure if that's the reason, but I think she comes off as quite arrogant in parts of this. I really don't like this: This just comes across to me as her shirking any kind of personal responsibility in interpersonal relationships and blaming the other person. The whole thing has a tone that I don't like, and she literally says several times, "I know I'm right/was right". That's not to say she's wrong about everything, but Question for the Culture was a disaster so to act like she's some sort of genius who has human behaviour and existence all worked out is ... not it. I suppose this is her doubling-down on that, again? Like does she think other people don't think about this? With all that said, the parts where she talks about the music are good. Idk how I feel about COCC mentioning her girlfriends but that is, of course, her prerogative. I suppose that's why Chunk and Charlie are in the mv, because she said it also mentions her siblings. Idk what she's talking about when she says she's going to have to raise her dogs, cats and chickens on her own, because she is never single ... ever? What is she talking about? Also why would anyone be surprised that she actually writes? That's literally her job. Anyway, to end on a positive note, I hope it's delayed because she's putting "Dealer" in and making sure she's 100% happy with COCC before releasing it. ETA: I also like this comment by Jack That's one of my favourite lines, too, and I feel like it links back to the intro of 13 Beaches.
